  1. All watercraft on Michigan waters, including privately-owned lakes and waterways, must be registered except: ~watercraft 16 ft. or less, propelled by oars or paddles, and not used for rental or commercial purposes, ~non-motorized canoes and kayaks not used for rental or commercial purposes, rafts, surfboards, sailboards, and swim floats, regardless of length, ~watercraft registered in another state and used only temporarily in Michigan. For most watercraft the registration fee is based on length. All registrations expire on March 31 in the third year of issuance. So, my Old Town canoe w/trolling motor is registered as per state law. (and due for renewal this spring) A-Jay

  3. I like most of the changes. I do not like the "vote for your favorite angler" portion of the post season set up. Despite all the major sports using voting for their All Star ballots, it still sounds a little lame. :-/ A-Jay
  4. Yup ~ explain your situation and your schedule/availability. YOUR schedule just may be exactly what THEY are looking to fill ! Good Luck A-Jay

OK - Joke time . . . . . . . A husband and wife were spending a quiet evening at home watching some television. The woman was splitting her attention between the TV and some knitting. The man had the remote and was diligently switching between fishing shows and porn. This went on for most of the evening and the Mrs. was starting to get a bit frustrated with the too frequent changing from program to program. When she finally she couldn't take it any longer, she just blurted out "for crying out loud, will you Please just leave it on the Porn, you already know how to fish" ! A-Jay
  6. I am all about the snow, the more, the better. The ponds and lakes in this area are So low and drawn down, we NEED the melt off. We average 150 inches a year and last winter we got less than half that. There is very little shore line structure here as it is, so when the lakes are down it's bad. So I say, Bring it on all winter. I'll deal with the drifts, the plowing and shoveling the roof. But come the spring, I'll be smiling ! A-Jay
  7. Very nice selection - Congrats ! So in all fairness, you Will Be Obligated to wear that very sporty SK Hat all year . . . . . A-Jay
  8. I watched "A day on the Lake" the other day featuring Alton Jones. He was asked about his preference in knots with fluorocarbon and he named this same knot. He called it a "hangman's noose" though he admitted that he thought that there was another name for it. He also demonstrated it nicely a couple of times. A-Jay

Keep plugging away ~ I'd trade places with you just to make a cast that didn't bounce. A-Jay
  10. Cool - sounds like it was a good time. I was not able to get down there this year. So, my stud of a brother-in-law, who was there Saturday, streamed the KVD seminars to me with his phone ! Very neat and the next best thing to being there . . . . A-Jay
  11. Congratulations ~ Can you post a copy of the photo here ? A-Jay
  12. I think each state has some version of this angler recognition program. I'm in Michigan and this state's program is run by the DNRE. They offer a Catch and Keep category and a Catch and Release category as well. Catching fish that meet or exceed minimum weights / lengths is tough and surely qualifies them as true trophies for that state. Who else participates and in what state ? A-Jay
  13. OK ~ but I don't routinely wear a helmet like that bass fishing and I don't think that suction cup would stick to my head even if I shaved it. A-Jay
  14. I originally spotted these in an LL Bean catalog. Is anyone using these ? I surfed up a few samples of assorted events shot with them on youtube and they looked promising. A quick check on a some "review" sites revealed mixed opinions. If these are ok, fishing alone could be allot more entertaining. http://i-kamstore.com/?gclid=CLmE34yBsaYCFQO8KgodvQmzoQ A-Jay
  15. x2 ~ Santa delivered the newer red model that I'm looking forward to trying for this also. It seems a bit lighter but the tip is a little softer as well, which might not be desirable, we'll see. A-Jay

I have become a big fan of the tubes made by Provider Tackle (Owned and operated by Art Ferguson) The 3.5" & 4" have been very good on both lmb/smb. These tubes are enhanced with a product called "X-Juice". Before using these tubes I had not heard of this scent. It's pretty pungent but it works. These baits are durable and reasonably priced with some great colors ~ "Roadkill" has taken at least one citation smb for the last three seasons. Check them out. 17. Good for you ! However, it sounds like you are in the early stages of CRS. An example of this cruel affliction becoming more acute would include forgetting that you even owned and then lost the Cuardo in the first place . . . . . . . A-Jay
  18. I take care of all my equipment and expect that it will take care of me ~ that includes the truck, trailer, boat and tackle. There is just no good reason not to. A-Jay
  19. I handled some 832 at a local shop this week. I seems like this stuff is a thinner diameter than current braids of the same test. I'm planning on spooling it up on a couple of jig rods this spring for a trial run. Also there is a brief but informative piece on the newest braids written by Doug Stange in the Winter 2010/2011 In-Fisherman. A-Jay
  20. I wish my wife would tell me that. Nice fish Dwight ~ btw, are you sporting the white shoes ? A-Jay
  21. Darn nice fish ~ and looks like it was a pretty nice day, especially for December. A-Jay
  22. I got mine 2 days ago but I haven't been through it yet. Can't get it away from my wife ! A-Jay
