Congrats on a great bass and a new PB. And welcome to the 7 lb club. A-Jay
  4. Just keep fishing. After something like that, I'd move along. If you can see the bass, the bass for sure can see you. Detection often reduces bites. Come back later and present the same bait to the same spot/area but from a different angle and from MUCH farther away. Good Luck A-Jay
  5. I've been watching these for a while. Prices have been all over the place. But with free shipping, this actually isn't too bad. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5UA1YO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3H30ATSR61H8N&psc=1 But my Blue tops are 15 lbs lighter per battery. A-Jay
  6. Arthritis is bad news and bring about life altering debilitation. The right kind of exercise can really help however. It can improve health and fitness without hurting joints. Combined with a treatment program, exercise can add to quality of life. And it can: Strengthen muscles around joints. Help maintain bone strength. Increase energy. Make it easier to sleep well. Help control weight. Improve balance. Improve mood. Bones need strong muscles for support. Not exercising weakens those supporting muscles. Weak muscles put more stress on joints. Adding excess body weight to that is not the best deal either. A-Jay
  7. Total Body 2 for the last workout of the month. Performed 3 working sets. Maintaining my joint health over all these years has been tricky. I'm being extra careful with it these days. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  8. Same ~ Open water - paddle tail on a jighead. Just about any cover at all - Swim jig. Side note - first several bass I ever caught on a swim jig, were from an open water deal, but I was presenting it right on the bottom. Hardly ever do that any more though. Hmmmmm . . . . A-Jay
  9. Yup ~ And considering current inventory deals, we may need to order one now, knowing we may need it two years down the road. Just to have it on hand. Did I just say that out loud ? Might actually be a good idea now that I think about it. Oh Man . . . A-Jay
  10. Thanks for asking. Thought about it long & hard. After a metric ton of research and measuring for fitment, I had a sit myself down and have an honest discussion. End result was, what I have works well and more importantly suits my style. What I was considering changing was going to cost Big $$$$ and in my mind I couldn't justify whatever increase in big bass catches I might realize. So the Pro-V Bass is still the same as it ever was - coming on season 7. I will say that if my Fortrex totally dies, I'd try to go the Ultrex route. A-Jay
  11. I agree with you @Dirtyeggroll Early season is a time for trophies. I've got just a bit more time to wait as the hard water slowly melts away. However, as soon as the opportunity presents itself, a trophy hunting I will go. My rig is already locked and loaded. ? A-Jay
  12. PSA ~ The blue smoke is the worst ! A-Jay
  13. And it only took a week ~ A-Jay
  14. My hair's a little shorter but other than that, pretty close. A-Jay
  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  16. Congrats ~ Sounds like the way to go. I use one service for just about everything. Snow removal, Grounds Keeping / Lawn Care, House Keeping & Laundry Services. Some minor plumbing, simple electrical work, vehicle & equipment mainainance, all the shopping & cooking, pet care, all the finances & taxes, as well as keeping on top of the home, vehicle & health insurance policies & payments. Ordering & maintaining needed prescription drug inventory alone can be overwhelming. So, I use MSA services. Couldn't be happier. btw, MSA stands for My Sorry A$$. Good Luck. A-Jay
  17. That's not from me ! A-Jay
  18. Congrats my Friend and Good Luck to you. A-Jay
  19. 40th workout of 2023 was Total Body 1 this morning. Switched some things around. Plan on running this one for a couple of months anyway. A little change is good. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  20. I hear ya, and depending on the bait & how it's rigged that's a real possibility. There are other options for Drop shot hooks besides EWG; which I do use on occasion. But some straight shank deals are decent and have a bit more 'bite'. Note *** regarding the Hooks Pictured - I use SEVERAL DIFFERENT sizes - I offered these to allow for the name, brand, type, and model number identification purposes. So we've ventured into using a little bigger, longer shanked hook. So if you look at the Picture provided, the bottom row - those are all GREAT DROP SHOT OPTIONS and ones I still use a ton; mostly for nose hooking. That whole top row of hooks are what I go to for bigger baits and when I want to 'top hook' a bait; meaning inserting the hook like you would put say a swimbait on a jighead. Where the hook goes in the front/nose of the bait, is threaded into & down the body of the bait BUT comes out the top. Still a drop shot, but when a fluke or a caffeine shad is rigged like this, the hook up to land ratio goes way up. Brownies are generally impaled in the top or the roof of the mouth and they generally Do NOT come off. I definitely use a little 'beefier gear', like M instead of ML and 8-10 lb fluorocarbon leader instead of 4-6 lb. A-Jay
  21. IME, when using 'typical' drop shot gear, I'd say no but 'skin hooking' is a real possibility as well. Landing percentage on that deal can be 50/50 at best. In the end, when I'm targeting trophy fish, my gear will be appropriate for the job. There's always the rare 'Holy Smokes' hook up when not expecting it. There's usually a lot of verbal pleading during those. A-Jay
  22. Hi Jimmy, I've been running my twin 12 ft Talons since 2016. Starting perhaps three years ago, I've also experienced some on & off 'Squeaking'; mostly with just one unit. First few times I did the same clean & lube deal. That seemed to work OK, and lasted several trips. However, the clean & lube of both units has become part of my regular boat mainainance. Especially after deploying the units at places that have a super soft of sandy bottom. I'd figure at 2 or 3 times a season now. Full dry land extension allows for an inspection of the whole deal. Considering how hard I work those units, should probably be done routinely anyway. And I did need to replace a spike a while back which has been good to go ever since. A-Jay
  23. Jeff's been doing that dangle deal for a while. And James Linder's been doing it for longer than that. A-Jay
  24. This might shed some light on the subject ~ A-Jay
