Trimming Jig Skirt Lengths : How Do You Trim The Bottom ?
I'm with Tom @WRB on this deal, but I like to trim just about 1/2 inch or so past the hook bend. Happens on most every jig, swimjig, vibrating jig and even spinnerbaits and for two main reasons. One, I'm often targeting smallmouth and do prefer a 'slightly' smaller profile. Two, never want the skirt length to interfere or impede the action of whatever trailer I might be using. Depending on the bait & trailer, I may shorten the trailer too which makes the skirt length even more important. YMMV A-Jay

Landing nets
For me, using a net to land bass is part of 'the system'. Unless it's a super mini dink, I never reach for them or boat flip fish. Especially treble hook deals. I use a Frabill Conservation Series Landing Net with Camlock Reinforced Handle, 20 X 23-Inch Model 9510. And it's on sale ! https://www.amazon.com/Frabill-Conservation-Landing-Camlock-Reinforced/dp/B003JSLWLQ/ref=asc_df_B003JSLWLQ?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79920803409785&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583520395360151&psc=1 A-Jay

Meet Finn ~
Picking the name is one of my favorite parts of this deal. Between the fosters, sponsored pups and our own dogs, we've been through a few over the years. We follow a few 'rules'. Name can't sound like or rhyme with the name of any other dog we currently have. We never 're-use' names or use the name of our friend's dogs. Try to avoid using common 'people names'. Need to be able to shout it and have it sound ok, because that's gonna happen eventually. Internet is a Great resource & help in many ways when it comes to picking names. One of our malamute breeder friends uses a 'theme' to name each litter. The last name of famous criminals was one of my favorites as was Disney characters & even Muppets. At some point it pays to get creative. We got more snow last night, I think Finn's going to be liking it. A-Jay

Meet Finn ~
Thank you my friend. Learned the hard way that we needed at least 6 ft. Some spots (Back corners) have an extended section at the bottom that's buried a couple of feet to slow down the escape of 'diggers'. Deer still jump it from time to time. Scared the heck out of me a couple of times at night. Just don't expect it. Our dogs always know they are there though . . . #chaseison A-Jay

Meet Finn ~
This is Finn. We know very little about him as he was picked up as a stray by the wonderful folks at the Otsego County animal shelter. Seems like he’s at least a year old, about 55 lbs. or so, in great shape and might be some type of Lab mix. He’s High Energy for sure. Lynn and & I are not fostering him, more like sponsoring him. Meaning, he’s not living with us (for now anyway). We’ve been taking him on daily walks from & back to the shelter. Patiently working towards gaining his trust and doing what we can to modify his behavior to be more socially acceptable. Doesn’t seem like Finn has much in the way of training #hideyourcrazy. We both feel he has quite a bit of potential, most of them do. Today Finn made his first visit to Pawz Pack Inn (our place). We let him run around a bit off lead, worked with him some and then took him back to the shelter. But not before letting him pick his name. More to follow. A-Jay

My Problem With YouTube Fishing Videos...
When it comes to fishing video content type and presentations, I'd like to offer some food for thought which might help some basshead's here understand why certain video's are presented the way they are and perhaps why channels often seem to evolve a bit over time. YouTube Creators who have channels that have over 1K subscribers and over 4k hours of viewing are eligible for monetization. (Insert commercial advertisement) That can and often does change things. Creators are also offered something called YouTube Studio. This is basically channel analytics on steroids. Just about every conceivable aspect regarding how each video is viewed, who is watching and for how long is captured. It's actually pretty intense. Long story short, if a Creator wants to, he/she can use this information to make more of what people watch most, and many do. Can't blame them really. While clearly not always the case, the more subscribers a channel has, the more of a factor this may be. When I am looking 'for something else' in the way of content that might be less $$ driven and contain 'less popular' but perhaps just as useful info (and not just entertainment) I start with non-monetized channels with less subscribers. I will add that the BassResource.com channel is IMO, one very decent exception to the rule. Finally, I don't 'use' that Studio deal at all. Not a factor for me and never will be. I deliberately present my content in a manner that 'misses' most of the analytics simply because it's not why I do what I do. YouTube still sends a monthly email that let's me know everything about "how my channel performed". I delete it. As long as the channel is still there in the morning, I'm good. A-Jay

My Problem With YouTube Fishing Videos...
Right off the bat ~ I really appreciate the support and kind words directed my way. Thank You To the OP - Do you produce videos? Yes, I do record most of (but not all) my fishing. Been doing it now for almost 10 years. For me there's quite a bit that goes into it and in the beginning I tried to take a lot of short cuts. And my results reflected that. Experience has proven that forethought, & planning go a long way. As does having the right equipment and a suitable platform. Putting yourself out on the world wide web can be intimidating. However as @Glenn noted above, being myself is the only way it works for me. I've done my best to streamline the process however the whole deal definitely cuts into my fishing time. No way around it. But the reward IMO, totally outweighs any & all time, effort and $$$ spent. Hard to put a price on the ability to cue up once in a lifetime memories in 1080p, anytime. Sharing this stuff sort of has a life of it's own. This thread may be a example of that. As for watching & liking fishing videos, I do some of that. Most all of it is either tutorial or folks going fishing. I don't do hype, drama, or Fluff. YMMV A-Jay

Switch from right to left hand reels?
I prefer Right handed casting reels, Left handed spinning reels. I cast two-handed. Been that way for a long time in both salt & sweet water applications. When it comes to hook sets, I believe I am close to equally as 'strong' on either side. All of that just feels very natural to me and seems to happen that way. Tried a left handed casting reel a while back. Just felt really awkward and made me 'think' about what I was doing way too much. When the ultimate goal is putting big fish in the net. I'm doing OK and never realized any 'advantage' to The Switch. So I canned the idea. Still have the reel. Not sure why. A-Jay
