  1. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ The search tool can be very helpful. As mentioned you can always ask just about anything. Responses are routinely quick & insightful. There's also a rather huge Bass Resources 'articles' section that has plenty of very good info covering just about everything bass fishing related. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_articles.html A-Jay
  2. Safely at their new digs. Owner say Jana is snoring and Ruby sounds like she's talking to herself. #nailedit A-Jay
  3. Just a heads up ~ Pretty sure I'll exceed my daily 'like' limit any second now . . . . A-Jay
  4. There are several levels of it for me, but in a word ~ Yes. Takes weeks, months and even years to earn their trust & respect and 1 second to lose it. A-Jay
  5. Since 2007 we've been living in an area of northern lower MI that is affectionately known as "The Snow Belt". I grew up just out side of Boston, MA and before coming here I 'thought' I knew what snow was. Well, this place is next level. The average is usually 140 inches a winter. So from Nov to Apr it will snow just about an inch a day, everyday. It's a grey sky just about all winter here and is like living in a Snow Globe. #shakeitup. Getting 4-5 inches 3 or 4 days in a row is routine and adds up fast. But the most intense thing is when it's coming down at 2 inch or more an hour. Never seen ANYTHING like it until I came here. It's surreal. Seems so quite & beautiful but it's just dumping and dumping. Flakes are huge. I will often just go out and stand in it. As a result, this is a huge winter sports area and has been for a long time. Snowmobiles are allowed to drive on the roads and are often the only way to get around. Something I had to get used to when I first got up here and I am. But it's still makes me smile seeing 20 of them at a gas station. Snow machine trails are EVERY where here and the county is constantly grooming them. When I came to look at this place for purchase, the previous owner had 7 snowmobiles in the garage. btw- dog sledding it a good time however shoveling the roof is not. A-Jay
  6. And we are Mission Complete ~ Entire deal was super smooth and went without a single hitch. Wish they all went like this one. Jana & Ruby should be almost to their new home by now. So glad they were adopted together. Side note; after completing the paper work at the animal shelter, we always take a stroll through the holding pens to check out the dogs there. I met my next project. "Bob", is a year and a half mix breed who's a bit of a wild one. Bummer is, he's so hyper, he's been at the shelter since June. Once this weather clears, I'll be going back to work with Bob. Start out with just some walking & leash work, and we'll see where that takes us. But this guy has energy to burn and really needs 'a job'. More to follow. A-Jay
  7. We want the snow - Makes the dog sledding better. Also we almost always get more than "Predicted" I did see that Buffalo NY snow forecast. First one I read said SIX FEET . . . . . That's a little much . . . . Especially all at once. But those folks have been getting dumped on for a long time. So they know the deal. The pictures are always pretty wild too. A-Jay
  8. Killer post ! And I love "The Braided Wonder" Certainly seems to fit, quite perfectly I might add. Nicely Done A-Jay
  9. The malamutes have really calmed down surprisingly fast and adjusted very comfortably into our 'routine'. So we are a full go for an adoption later today ! We'll all be meeting with the new owner at the local animal shelter. Taking on these 2 pups is a special type of handful and this one seems like a really good fit. Hopefully we can snap a few pics before they go and then Jana & Ruby will be on to their next adventure. A-Jay
  10. Heavy snowfall is expected today and tonight across parts of northern Michigan where localized amounts of 12" or more will be possible right on A-Jay's house by Friday AM. Intense snowfall rates of 1-2” per hour or higher will lead to quick accumulations on roadways and near-zero visibilities at times, resulting in dangerous driving conditions. A-Jay
  11. Total Body Three this morning. After a couple of warm up sets, two strict working sets gets it for me. Showing one here. Feeling Good. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Good Luck with your search. A-Jay
  13. Once the dogs are 'ready' to go, the less time they are with us, the better. For the dogs anyway. Best case is our time together is sort of like a weekend retreat. Just to get them back on their feet. And as luck would have it, seems we have a most excellent potential new owner for the girls. Nice lady contacted us last night and there will be some back & forth follow up today. But right off the top she's close (down state a couple of hours) and checks all the boxes & then some. Some times it goes like that. Other times, it's a waiting game searching for the right deal. Takes dogged patience (see what I did there) but we're very willing to wait. Has to be that way. Not the case on this deal though. Very exciting for all parties involved. Love watching the new owner meet their 'new dog(s).' That smile is some thing special. More to follow after we get some final details. A-Jay
  14. Thanks ~ We're hoping that as well and they certainly like to hang out together. But I think they'll be OK either way. IMO, adopting a senior dog, especially a large breed, takes a special kind of human spirit with a very generous heart. Social media is just flat out AMAZING when it comes to this type of deal. We're working hard and keeping our fingers crossed. A-Jay
  15. Pretty funny actually ~ When it comes to puppies & foster failures in particular, my wife & I take turns doing this to each other. A-Jay
  16. Thanks guys ~ And Yes Ruby's the red & white and she's a character for sure. A real 'talker' and she moans when she eats ! It's hilarious. A-Jay
  17. Over the weekend we added Jana & Ruby to the pack, temporarily. Both 11 years old spayed females who lived together and are now looking for a new home. We actually fostered & place these ladies both with the same owner 10 years ago. Sadly, the man passed away last Thursday. So we're helping these pups destress and be ready to adjust to whatever comes next. Both sweethearts and could easily be foster failures. Expect them to be re-homed here pretty quick. Especially with that story. https://www.facebook.com/ThePAWZ/posts/pfbid0nDwyyUQSNPWBEbN69GDFKXrNuFzL4v7V6hc735YDnJNHBsxwQook5KcoNMj7JKHcl A-Jay
  18. It was part of my job description for a long time, pretty much by default. Saw some gruesome scenes much of which I've had to work on to forget. Boat propellers and human tissue don't mix, Commercial fishing rigging kills guys just about every week somewhere, suicide, bridge jumpers, the list is long. It doesn't 'bother me'. Started early enough. Watched my Dad take off his middle finger with a table saw when I was 10. He barely flinched. Wrapped up the severed digit along with the wound with his white handkerchief (always carried one) and said, "Go get your mother and tell her we need to go to the ER". They re-attached it but it was a prop for the most part. Things we remember. A-Jay
  19. Easy to understand your concern. Sending you both our best my friend. A-Jay
  20. Been running these. Both the older and this new version. Very stout. A-Jay https://m.tirerack.com/tires/description.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO2
  21. This time of year makes 'feeding the machine' a little easier. Meaning I'm getting plenty of calories. But I may have scarfed down a little too much anniversary cake yesterday. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  22. Your boy has that entire deal backwards. He pays you to work on that unit. I'm thinking $800 a month should be more than fair compensation. A-Jay
  23. I rotate through three pairs of Onos myself. (blue, amber & green lens) Big fan & have had nothing happen to any pair as of yet. I think going on 3 years now, maybe more. If they are not on my face, they live in the case. Good Luck with your search. A-Jay
  24. You Know it. It's been Bravo Zero (which mean ready to go) for a couple of weeks now. Don't plan on using it for the first several snow events though. I like to let the drive get all packed down with a solid base layer. One that hopefully lasts until March or so. A-Jay
  25. Fred Arbogast Mud Bug A-Jay
