  1. I think we all want to go out on a high note. Sitting on a last trip bogus outing all winter can be pretty rugged. A-Jay
  2. Guess we'll find out . . . A-Jay
  3. Lake Minichuck was much better to me today. Decent conditions with more & better quality smallies. Small swimbait was lethal today. Getting pretty close to calling it a for the season. Fish Hard A-Jay
  4. @Darth-Baiter Sorry your Mom is having such a hard time and that you tweaked your back. Hope you both can be on the mend soon. Life is hard. A-Jay
  5. Sorry to hear you're feeling bogus. Hope you can get to being better soon. A-Jay
  6. The Meat & Potatoes ~ "The scoring change will slightly alter how anglers advance in each Bass Pro Tour event. The 40 anglers in Group A will compete on Days 1 and 3 and the 40 anglers in Group B will compete on Days 2 and 4. The Top 20 from each group, based on the two-day, heaviest cumulative weight of five bass per day will advance to the Knockout Round (Day 5). Anglers who win the Qualifying Round will no longer receive an automatic Championship Round berth. Weights are zeroed for the Knockout Round, and 10 anglers will advance to the Championship Round (Day 6). Weights from the Knockout Round will carry over into the Championship Round, and the winner of the event will be decided by the heaviest Knockout and Championship Round two-day cumulative weight." One interesting aspect of this scoring change might be as viewers, we are probably going to hear just about every way there is to say "this bass won't help me". A-Jay
  7. Made my scheduled assault on the home gym this morning. Been wearing the (red) 5 lb ankle weights during many sessions the past few months. Today I was back in the (black) 10 lb deals. Felt like it was time. Sort of amazing what a 5 lb difference can make over the course of the workout. Quite noticeable. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  8. I have had some success throwing 3-5 inch paddletail swimbaits for brown bass. Here's a little info on how I do it. A-Jay

  10. It was but I was kind of determined. You know the feeling. A-Jay

  12. Took The Old Town out yesterday, first time in a while. Wasn't exactly fisherman friendly weather, especially for the canoe. Warm but big southerly winds were a bit much. Still managed a few on a rattlebait fished like a blade bait. This one had some 'fall' colors herself . . . . A-Jay
  13. Highly recommend looking at some yolotek mounts . A-Jay
  14. Thanks and right back at ya. But Man, I hope you're right. A-Jay
  15. I joined the service a little more than a year after graduating high school. Before that, I had a few, let's call them unskilled labor type employment adventures. During each one I was the co-worker that sucked. And I was really good at it. Always late, sluffed off most of the day, was a total smart azz with just about everyone including my 'boss'. None of this was tolerated and after a few weeks at each job we went our separate ways. Usually I just quit because I was a spazz. Well somehow I ended up in the US Coast Guard and about half way through the 9 weeks of boot camp, my DI made it very clear that (in ways probably not acceptable in todays world) that I was going to need to modify my behavior. I did thank goodness. And the rest is history. So the Moral of the story is, . . . Yea, I don't know what the moral of the story is . . . . . . But at least I didn't go to prison. A-Jay
  16. Resurrecting this one, because it's still totally applicable. While I am very close to putting the Pro-V bass up for the hard water season, there may just be at least one or two more open water adventures ahead of me. The Old Town canoe will be making it's fall debut tomorrow morning. Forcast is for clouds, a little wind but warm (relative term around these parts). Hoping it goes something like last years final deal did. Fish Hard A-Jay
  17. Sorry to hear this mu friend ~ That's a serious deal. Hope he can pull through. A-Jay
  18. Mice, moles, grass, garter & hog nose snakes. An assortment of bugs including but not limited to grasshoppers & dragon flies. Toads get spit out almost immediately, frogs though harder to catch aren't usually so lucky. Seems deer & rabbit poop is some type of delicacy, because every one of our dogs hunts it down like a crackhead. And we had a big male malamute several years ago who was addicted to worms & night crawlers. Good protein I guess but still sort of bogus. As for house hold items, by now the place is doggy proof, but every once in a while a dirty napkin or paper towel will disappear only to show up later on the shovel we use to 'huff' the logs into the woods. 19. Took an extra day off since my last workout. Didn't really 'need it'. Just want to go fishing instead. Back at it this morning. Showing one working set of the 7 exercises performed. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  20. Agreed ~ and the funny part of this is that just about every time I launch with full intentions of "getting a mess of walleye". You know what happens . . . . . . Nothing ! A-Jay
  21. Left the dock on this gorgeous October morning looking for Brown bass. Started catching these guys instead; early & often. Never saw a bass so I eventually swallowed my pride and went with it. I literally lost count, practically Blacked out the graph at one point. 8 feet thick in 25 feet of water. The Jackall TN 70 Lipless in chartreuse & purple of all things. Kept these two for the grill. 23. I've done this a number of times. Usually it's a case where a decent bass has my bait and is running at me. Especially when my rig is moving forward at the time of the strike. So I'm just trying to keep her tight and pinned until she finally changes direction. Or jumps which is when I usually lose the fish . . . https://youtu.be/19PNWrSRWX8?t=253 A-Jay

  25. I really Love buying new vehicles - Seriously. The mental wrestling match is a blast for me. Reason being - I have ALL the power and legs. Which always allowed me to walk away. Sometimes some of what is said or offered is so insane, it's hard not to burst out laughing. Since moving to a small community up north here, the local GMC dealer has ended becoming a good friend. Actually tried to hire me the first time I went there AND The dealership owner bought my GTO (Cash) so I could get the Lund. So I love him. A-Jay
