  2. I love my wife, my son and my brother. Certainly have strong feeling for others in my life, especially those few in the inner circle. However, despite the importance & strength of those relationship, they are not love to me. Finally, I do 'love' my dogs. And that's a different deal too. It's sort of complicated and super personal. 3. I'm in this lane as well. This wasn't always the case, even though I 'thought' it was. But after watching myself 'set the hook' in a few of my own video's, I realized I was pretty close to a "Hollywood Hookset". Wasn't exactly the most effective or even consistent approach; unless missing fish and busting gear was the objective. At the time, I was pretty good at doing both. Not to mention coming close to flipping myself right out of my canoe a few times. So my own video review has helped me see mistakes, correct them and pretty much streamline the whole process. No wasted motion. Currently I suppose I have a few different versions of hooksets, which are application specific, but do seem to crossover a little. Treble hook baits with braid is just a quick snap set. (topwater & perhaps jerkbaits) Drop shot falls into the above. Treble hook baits with FC is a reel and set deal with more set than reel. (most any type of crankbait) Single hook baits with FC line is also reel & set deal, but there's usually at least as much reeling as there is setting. (Vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits, most any bottom contact or A-Rig, swimbaits, swimjigs, etc). The most pressure I ever place on my gear happens during the hookset, whatever is needed. After that, I use the minimal amount of force necessary to compel compliance. YMMV Fish Hard A-Jay
  4. And here's why you do throw them in Mexico . . . My First DD bass, she walloped a 1 oz bait fished off a cliff; deep. Was The Only bite I got all day. Not complaining. https://youtu.be/YtFl-6Whtfk A-Jay
  5. I have & fish both sticks. They are both nice but fish a little different. The MH F Victory blank fishes 'faster' than the MH F LTB IMO. I talked a little about them both while on the water last spring in the clip below. A-Jay
  6. Current deal is no fun either . . . Can we at least get something in the middle ? A-Jay
  7. Casting Distance & SPEED ! I throw spinnerbaits at late summer brown bass. Best fish come on long casts and burned baits. Including my PB Smallie. https://youtu.be/frJAlndpO7E https://youtu.be/NpVmd8ll1Dg?t=168 https://youtu.be/Z95g3H4qmp0?t=84 Fish Hard A-Jay
  8. My favorite time to fish for plus size brown bass. But access to the fish is often a little on the sketchy side. A-Jay
  9. I grew up driving a stick, so I was definitely a two foot driver. But my brakes lasted at least as long as my re-tread tires and refurbished battery did. Now I lease my trucks new every three years. So no mainainance for me. Radio knob falls off, it goes back to the dealer. A-Jay
  10. Thanks Allen. I like it when folks assume this is all of it. ? A-Jay

  12. Don't know much about Zander and haven't ever caught one or even seen one. I do bump into a few walleye now & again. (ok, a lot) A-Jay
  13. Seems the biggest challenge for me at this point is to be at least as capable as I was yesterday. Working sets were longer today. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  14. In my last 'update' I had mentioned that we were hoping that a new medication would prove to be 'helpful' and that Lynn had just started it. She's already consuming a truly staggering number of meds daily, and along with her infusions, any & every time we 'add' to that, raises the concern level, if that's even possible at this point. Well, she's been on it for going on 5 weeks now. Here's the Good News, It's helping. Not a miracle my any means but the 'passing/blacking out' is not happening and she's able to play with the dogs for a while most every day. This might be the new norm, but it's a lot better than what it was just 6 weeks ago. So we're still taking it one day at a time and appreciating the little things. There are the good old days. Thank you so much for all your kind messages and continues support. A-Jay

I have never actually timed how long a bass will hold on to any presentation. I'm usually trying to come tight on them as soon as I realize I'm bit. That particular time frame does vary a little but it's never 40 seconds. At least not by design. I suppose the closest I come may happen while I'm picking out the occasional mid cast professional over run. A few times upon completion, which again that time can vary, there's been life on the end of the line as I reel it in. Bonus ! A-Jay
  18. I took a couple of LC Pointer 158's to Mexico last trip. We have had solid success with the 128 previously so . . . . . Bigger is better right ? No bites for me with it. And this thing is Huge. Have your Wheaties in advance of 'working' this one. A-Jay

  21. Sometimes my workout is mostly about stress relief. I added weight and did sets of 8. A-Jay
  22. That's what I was going to say. Might be a little late by then. Either way, perhaps contact a local guide. They'll be able to tell you what's what & when. I have no affiliation or experience with these folks but here ya go. They are experienced in fishing that area. https://www.gettingbitguideservice.com/ Good Luck A-Jay
  23. Come on up to the north woods . . . btw - My opinion of the 'colorful leaves' quickly changes once they are 2 feet deep all over my property. A-Jay
  24. LC 128 accounted for my first Brown bass over 6 lbs. American Shad I do believe. (Box on the left) A-Jay
