Ranger Z185 or PT 198
I ran a 2 stroke from 2016 - 18. (Optimax) Repowered to the V8 4 stroke ProXS 2018 to current. Both 200 HP. Weight & Top end Performance is similar. 4 stroke is quieter, less to no exhaust fumes, has a different power band, And IMO looks and definitely sounds much better. Good Luck with your decision. Brag about your state's bass fishing.
I've only lived up here in northern lower MI since 2007. Am very fortunate to be surrounded by quite a few lakes; of various sizes. Many of these pristine waters have a very healthy population of smallmouth bass. I have a few favorites but Lake Menderchuck is easily the best. So many plus size fish. I don't always catch them but am addicted to trying. Looks like I'll be starting the fish pics in this one . . . (if you're into that sort of thing) Fish Hard A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
As a younger man, I can't say I really knew what I would be like when I was in my 60's. Well now I know. Seems it's as hard as you want to make it. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Coming up to a waypoint
That's up to you to determine. I'm not certain exactly what type of rig or set up you have, but being able to maneuver and or control your rig with your trolling motor is IMO a basic & very necessary skill. Having sufficient TM power is helpful as is understanding/know what your rig does in the wind. And then anticipating your moves to be where you want to be, when you want to be there. I learned this doing it at night. Makes day light fishing pretty easy. Using an anchor is the same deal. You'll need to learn where & when to drop it, how much line to lay out and how your rig will eventually sit depending on where you secure the line on your rig. ALL this is super easy when it calm and not so much when it's not. Bottom line, a trolling motor used effectively is "Easier". But an anchor works too, it's just way more work. The unit @txchaser recommended above seems right. I use 3/8" x 150FT of DOUBLE BRAID NYLON ANCHOR LINE. A-Jay

Merino Wool Base Layers
I wear a lot of Columbia Omni Heat as a base layer under a second layer of fleece. Been very good. My wife picked ,me up one set of MERINO WOOL MIDWEIGHT BASE LAYER - Love the stuff. I wear it all the time now as my base layer. Need more. Super good in every way. Can Shrink when washed though. Follow the instructions and be particular with your washing process or you'll have kid sized stuff. https://www.meriwoollayers.com/collections/all A-Jay

Name the baits..
If I fished the same type places where there was several constants - maybe. I have a boat full of baits I 'feel' like I can catch fish with, but none that work for me all the time and or in every location. 3 ft to 30 ft - 40 degree water to 75 degree water. On a sand, rock, weed or silt bottom. Spring, summer & fall. Truely ? No A-Jay

Rain Gear/cold weather gear
I haven't been able to find a "Do It All" set of gear yet. The temp extremes are too much. Layering under lighter gear works OK for me until it doesn't. So I have three sets. HUK jacket & Bibbs for late spring into summer warm lite rain. Guidewear Gortex pants and jacket for Total keep me dry in heavy rain and cooler temps. And the newest and warmest gear is a Simms challenger insulated jacket & Bibb. Best set I've own so far; light super warm & dry and very comfy. NOT for warm weather though. I wear a single insulated layer under that Simms gear and I'm all kinds of toasty even in the coldest of temps and wind. A-Jay

eating Oatmeal.
Regular Quaker Oats for me; 1/2 cup every day. However the addition of half a banana, handful of Craisins, scoop of canned pumpkin & Greek Yogurt, cinnamon, ginger and once around the pool with the Genuine Michigan maple syrup; this ain't your grandma's oatmeal. A-Jay

It's Always A Little Sad
I know what's ahead of me. No trip to Mexico this year might make it seems a little longer. No time to waste though, I'm headed to the lake right now. Fishing Hard right up to the bitter end. Need to go down swinging and a few fatties would surely be welcome. And right now every lake has Views on Views . . . . . A-Jay

Wisdom Tooth Removal
I had 3 removed in High School and never found out why they left the the top right still in. Fast forward 30 odd years later I find out; during a service related retirement dental X-Ray. The root of that last wisdom tooth had grown up INTO my sinus cavity. They wouldn't let me retire until it was removed. Went to 3 different 'specialists' before I found a guy who was willing to dig it out. This guy was quite an interesting cat. After taking his own X-Ray, he said "yea, I'll take it out". But he had that sort of maniacal look in his eye when he said it. I was concerned. Either way he did it, went fine. I did end up with a hole in my sinus where the root came out. So for about a year I had to drink in a specific way that didn't allow whatever it was from running out my nose ! Good Times. A-Jay
