  1. Just checking in here ~ Been taking full advantage of my 'off time' to be on the water quite a bit and it's been paying off with a few respectable bass. However, I haven't been totally out of the gym. Still getting in there every other day to do a 'light' sort of warm-up style workout. 30 minutes just to keep everything moving & lubed up. Cut my calorie intake down to mainainance or even slightly below that. Should eventually result in less 'smoothness'. Expect to be participating in more of an actual regimented deal in a few more days. Unless the big brown bass bite goes completely nuts. Then, all bets are off . . . . A-Jay
  2. Early season (Pre-spawn) here this state's Regs require catch & immediate release. So no fish in the live well until the 'possession' rules go into effect. Either way, if & when your local regs allow it, even without a live well, a few minutes along side your canoe with the fish in the net, can go a long way to not only allow the fish of a life time to recover, but you'll start to see much of the color come back into that beast as well. Good Luck. A-Jay
  3. OK ~ Good Tip. A-Jay

  10. Thanks and Yes, just climbing in. Time in the home gym paying off again. Also - helpful tip for when you recover to the trailer: It's good to know that the water you're stepping off your rig into is SHALLOWER, than the top of your hip boots. Don't ask me how I know this. I have since added a 'tape line' on my push pole which indicate less than crotch freezing depth. A-Jay

  12. Here's a video of a no dock solo launch & recovery. Early and late season here there are no docks so this is common practice for me. Hip Boots for cold water & shallow water anchors are helpful. Without the Talons, the boat would just be slid onto the beach. Finally, a push pole can be helpful as well. https://youtu.be/6p3qjh0e0w4 A-Jay
  13. Summer Time and the Living is easy . . . . Get them while you can. Hard water's not that far away I'm afraid. A-Jay
  14. I just hope that some how, some way, and some day I won't have to fish with this inferior Quantum gear anymore. A-Jay
  15. I have some Quantum gear that has performed well for several years. And with proper care, I expect that to continue. However, there's nothing in any of the the current Quantum line of freshwater rods & reels, that excites me. A-Jay
  16. You can fix this and it's not nearly as complicated as you might imagine. GoPro & Scotty both make useful accessories and there's even a GoPro remote control which is helpful if you mount your camera out of reach. Don't recommend voice control as you'll have the unit going on & off randomly and at what seems like the worst times. There's even a GoPro App which will connect to your camera, offers all the controls as the remote and will even allow you to see 'what your camera is seeing'. Very helpful. You can take pics with these cameras or capture them out of the video; which is what I do most often. I have a couple of units set up in my Old Town Canoe and after a little trial & error, they get the job done for me. https://scotty.com/product-category/mounts/page/3/ https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories?utm_source=CRM&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=batch_promo_em_2_15off_manda_gps_us_null_20220826 Do It ! 22. I get it. The carpet bunks didn't scratch my rig either. But after see how much crap they hold, I was really surprised. (and yes I 'rinsed/dunked' them prior to every load). The most beneficial aspect of the composite bunks for me is the easy on & off the trailer and they seem to wear at least as well as the carpeted bunks. The rest is a wash. A-Jay
  23. Perfect. And to be honest, paint on my aluminum hull is cosmetic anyway, so I don't even care if it's scratched up. But easy off and easy on the trailer is totally worth the switch. A-Jay
  24. Ok, story time.... Try taking a few strips of carpet, dunk them in the lake over and over, let them dry/bake in the sun all day, know that all kinds of sand and grit from every parking lot you leave the boat at will be blown up and in to that carpet. It's never actually cleaned, never vaccuumed which is how we all generally remove deeply imbedded matter from any carpet. Then slide your rig on and off it multiple times. How could anyone actually believe this could not scratch a rigs bottom paint ? I can and do wipe off my composite bunks right before I load every time. Takes 1 minute and they are clean as a whistle. Try that with sand filled carpet bunks. If this sounds extreme just take off one dry bunk and tap it on a hard surface a few times. Bet you'll be pretty surprised at what happens. I certainly was. 25. Just Epic Smallies @Dwight Hottle~ My best five are 33.42 lb. Nothing to sneeze at but You've got me by just under 2 lbs. So I have some work to do. However we both know once we get into this neighborhood, it's pretty tough to move up. #thejeffersons A-Jay
