I agree that it's pretty tough to tell from that pic. But either way you've go a 50/50 shot at getting it right. And I bet regardless of how which one end up on top, you 'll be good. If not, switch it. You might not even to able to tell A-Jay

My Most Productive Baits ~ 2021 Edition
My quest for the Plus Size brown bass that inhabit the water I fish here continues. And while I was super fortunate to introduce myself to a few, I also caught more small to mid – sized bass this season than in many years combined. Can’t really explain it, but something changed. I was on the water more early (and some late) season. This list of ‘the most productive baits’ reflects that. Meaning, much of this is happening in relatively cooler and even cold water. So definitely pre-spawn, perhaps some post spawn with a few summer and fall trips mixed in at the end of it. Bottom line and what might be the important factor here is, these are the baits that took the better fish for me this season. https://youtu.be/xOItisrL3EM While I have quite a bit of this burned in to my memory, I do not remember every bait I fished in every situation all year. Still, it’s hard to forget the deals that took the better fish. Just to be sure, going back through report videos was very helpful and somewhat enlightening actually. Not going to discuss all of the horizontal moving hard baits that to me, feel like a glaring omission. But I just never got a bigger bite with that stuff this season. Either way this is what I came up with. The baits listed are pictured in the most productive colors/patterns based on the conditions I fished them in. Jerkbaits; Megabass Vision 110 Silent, Megabass Vision 110 Megabass Vision 110+1, Megabass Vision 110+1 Jr Strike King KVD 300 Deep. That Silent bait is really proving to be a shallow water killer. Blade bait Dimiki Vault ½ oz. Vibrating Jigs Z-Man Jackhammer Chatterbait 3/8 & ½ oz Z-Man Chatterbait Freedom 3/8 & ½ oz Vibrating Jig Trailers GYBC Zako and a Paul Krews Custom Baits Hand Poured Goby Evolution Baits HD Goby on a football Head (Totally new deal for me ) Outkast Tackle Feider Fly Marabou Jig 3/32 & 1/8 oz Everegreen Shower Blows 105 Strike King Rage Tail Cut-R worm A-Rig G Funk Baits Bama Rig with Strike King Rage Tail Swimmer, Keitech Swing Impact FAT and / or Strike King KVD Swim N Shiner Mounted on Dobyns Light Hook Swimbait Head or Dirty Jigs Tactical Bassin' Finesse Swimbait Jig Heads or VMC Boxer Jig Head – usually all 1/8 oz. Baits are usually less than 4.75 inches. I also fish the above swim baits & heads as stand-alone presentations in ¼, 3/8 & ½ oz. sizes Strike King Burner Spinner bait – I changed the blades on some baits I’ve fished painted blades in the past (white) so it’s something I went back to this season. Megabass Dark Sleeper ½ & ¾ oz *** Baits along the Right side of the picture are Presentations I fished some and intend to fish more next year. These are in the ‘High Expectations’ category. Megabass Vision 110+2 - (really hope to discover the Magic in this bait – if it has any. @Munkin Custom Perch Spinnerbait Megabass Sonicside crankbait Tackle HD Hi Def Craw - (as a standalone bait and a trailer) Tubes Hair Jigs (bottom contact deals) Wish List- Baits that to the best of my knowledge do not exist, but I believe there’s a real need for. 5/8 oz Jackhammer (Seems it could be a real sweet spot as far as weight goes) A SILENT Megabass 110+1 and 110+1 Jr. that will still cast well. As always, please feel free to add your own selections to this thread should the mood strike you. We like pictures. Stay Safe & Fish Hard A-Jay

Taking Aim
I am less concerned with 'casting form' than I am with fish catching results. The need/level of Casting Accuracy for me is almost always directly related to where and how I'm presenting a particular bait; so clearly presentation specific. Sometimes it's shallow or deep, or close by or a long way off, or somewhere in between. It's never a mighty heave all Willy Nilly with no direction in mind. IME, results suffer if & when my accuracy suffers. So I'm Alway casting to 'something', much of which, is only electronically detected. And speaking of electronics, there's been a certain 'new' type of casting accuracy developing. Over the past few years, and with the advent of this new fangled forward looking sonar, being able to present a bait right to a bass WITHOUT ever looking at the water, has come into play. Kind of impressive actually. Talk about pin point. Either way I'll keep practicing where & when I can . . . . A-Jay

Shoulder Surgery
Can happen doing any thing, any where, and at any time. Some of it can be 'overuse'. Fortunately, I've never had a severe shoulder injury, but I still do 'rehab' all year long. https://youtu.be/1c_ncpSciAo?t=143 A-Jay

A Job You Love vs. A Job That Pays Well
Job satisfaction Can Not be over stated. One's "Pay" may or might not compensate for a lack of it. So much of that happens on a personal level and can & does vary wildly from person to person. Some folks get their identity from their employment. Is it what you do or is it who you are ? Again, a personal deal. As a young person with limited experience, it can be hard to 'select' a long term path for yourself. My advice is to pick something and go for it. But keep your eyes and your ears open to other opportunities. If you fall in love with the first deal - great. If not, CHANGE LANES - early. IMO - "I hate my Job" is a supremely bad place to live your life. Regardless of the pay. Good Luck btw - the military is always looking for a few good men. A-Jay

Introducing the Newest Member of Our Pack ~
We have a fairly massive deer herd that lives all around us. Really find out just how many there are and how they are all over the property every night after the first good snow. I have 'several' huge oak trees out back and they come in to dine on the acorns. We leave them 'piles'. Our Dogs get used to them. The prey drive is a little different in each and I've had many that would take off after them and never come back. They stayed on lead all the time. My current pack is somewhere in the middle, they'll make a short chase but when the deer get way out, they turn around and come back. Except for Tank, he still thinks that one day he'll catch one - he'll figure it out here soon enough. But The Rabbits are playing a very dangerous game with him - like peek a boo. Tanks gets a little closer each time. It's only a matter of time before Old Bugs Bunny will be getting his pencil neck snapped in half compliments of Tankus Erectus . . . And as for being being better behaved, that's a relative term in our pack. We train them to co-exist with us, not to be crazy in the house, chill out after all meals and relieve them selves ONLY in the 'dedicated area' - we call it the Zone. They know. Every once in a while some one will steal third. We know they get it when a couple will be ruff housing in the back forty, suddenly stop, and head over to the zone to poop it up. Hard parts over after that, Foster dogs though, that's a whole different story. A-Jay

High Sticking
Anything is possible. That was a Fenwick Methods Travel rod that had been put through the ringer a bit. It was the lone survivor and the other 3 I had All suffered similar fate. On much less stress I might add. Hear I blew up one of Big Fish Jeff's Rods, same MH stick. A-Jay
