Are lures made for people not fish?
IME, colors play the smallest role in this whole deal, when it comes to presenting artificial baits. IMO, the fact that whatever we cast, unless it's live bait, will never appear or be considered by a bass to be 'the real thing'. Inanimate presentations lack any 'life force'. Just hunks of plastic, metal, rubber or some combination of them. However, that has never mattered, ever. Close enough has been good for years. No need to know why. Just go with it. Fish what you like. (btw - 139 Days to open water . . . . . . ) A-Jay

Come On Man !!!
Interesting concept ~ I'll play . . First I like the no anti-reverse Shimano spinners - not a back reeler so that switch is useless for me. While I can pretty much echo most everything noted above, I'd like to see a True "Tangle Free" landing net that weighs in at something less than my boat anchor. The remainder of the items on my wish list come from the 'You Must Be Dreaming' category. So I could really use . . . New & Improved GoPro Batteries that last 4 hours each and recharge in 30 minutes. A 200 HP out board motor with a super charger on it, that runs on lake water. A Lund Pro-V Bass Boat made with a Carbon Fiber hull. A pocket size 'line infuser' that magically bonds braid & mono/FC leaders with NO KNOT: and at 150 % line / knot strength. A Soft plastic and especially a paddle tail swimbait, that's effective yet impervious to toothy critter attacks. A superior Cloaking device Incorporated into my Humminbird unit which would effectively make me invisible to all the jet skis and pontoon boats who once they spot me , invariably simply must come close by and visit. And finally, I'll need the new Minn Kota Bow Mounted Rocket Launcher, for those special moments when I really need one. A-Jay

Aaron Martens Signs with G. Loomis
Jake Boomer (Owner Alpha Angler) & BP are friends. I have been fishing their Jerkbait rod for two seasons. Excellent stick. Helped land several respectable brown bass as well as the occasional by catch. A-Jay

Winter weather ‘19-‘20
A frigid Arctic air mass is expected to drop into the Midwest and northern Plains behind a strong storm system next week. Overnight lows in the single digits look likely. #getwood A-Jay

Today’s Total Body Workout started with some single leg training. Always challenging for me, especially when it comes to maintain my balance & utilizing good form. I think I did OK. #borninfiftynine #fitforlife A-Jay

New to site from Arkansas, no luck in about 13 fishing outings. Advice?
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Although I've not fished there before, pretty sure there at least a few bass somewhere in northwest Arkansas. Perhaps revise where & when you're fishing, in addition to you're throwing. Good Luck A-Jay

Blade baits vs lipless crankbaits?
I fish both baits quite a bit. A blade bait is fished most effectively when presented very close to or on the bottom. And a fairly clean bottom really helps; meaning the less weeds, the better. Rocks, sand, or gravel are best. So while I can & do fish a lippless bait like a blade bait (and it's very effective for me) I rarely fish a blade bait like a lippless bait; meaning moving it mostly on a horizontal plane through the water column. Just about everything you need to know about a blade bait - is in the video in the OP in the thread linked below. The rest of that thread is loaded with all types of knowledge nuggets that should help you out. Good Luck A-Jay

Cleaning / Preserving Rain Gear
For those of you looking to extend the life of your rain gear - I usually end up cleaning my gear once or twice a season (or whenever they need it) and have been using the above products for several seasons with quite a bit of success. Seems much better for the gear than ordinary laundry detergent & especially fabric softener, which is usually not recommended on this type of gear. Follow the directions. Super sorry to hear that. Happened to 2 of my training buds quite a while back. I stopped doing D/B Chest Flys because of it. Hope you can be on the mend sooner rather than later. A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
Pretty Much ~ There's been a recent influx of 'Swimbait guys' who are killing it each fall, you know they are coming back. We've fallen into a little groove on when we like to be there & the water levels at that time help promote where & how we like to fish. Booking (and paying) early helps lock us into all of that. Seems this next trip will include a few more humans. Good chance we'll be looking to book the larger King Air for the flight right into the lodge. Should be plenty of room . . . . . . . . . . . A-Jay

Quantum reels
Thanks - Both the 100 & the 200 EXO have helped me land many a quality Bass; Green & Brown. However if you look closely, you'll notice that each and every EXO stock handle has been replaced with an after market Hawgtech Carbon Fiber Handle. https://www.hawgtech.com/ Makes a decent reel that much better. Huge Fan of these. A-Jay

Quantum reels
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ While I have no hands on experience with the Vapor PT, I do fish other quantum reels quite a bit. The ones I have work well for me. Like most any brand out there, the better quality product comes from whatever their top of the line model(s) is or are. The Mid-Tier products are often quite serviceable if cared for. As one starts venture into the base or economy line reels, it may not be reasonable to expect more than that level of performance & durability. Perhaps consider this when making you selection. A-Jay
