Fishing big lakes
J that is exactly what I have been doing (and trying to perfect) since I started fishing from the Old Town Canoe a decade ago. It's a slow 'process' for me, especially on big & new water, (but one I've learned to savor). It's also something that experience has proven to me - can not be sped up or hurried through. And the more time & effort I put into the early stages of it (meaning time on the water) the more it can often pay off later on. A-Jay

Supreme Ultimate Bunk Boards
Came back to my truck & trailer in an empty parking lot and one of my ShoreLand'r trailer bunk boards was snapped & sagging. I can only guess what happened, but I don't really know. Either way, I prefer to only deal with this 'replacement' process once. After some research, I'm about to pull the trigger on a complete set of Supreme Ultimate Bunk Boards. This product is made from High-Density Polyethylene with an added UV stabilizer to resist fading. No more rotting carpet or wooden boards to replace every few years. The price point on these makes this like an investment. I'd appreciate any & all input from experienced users of this product So what's the Good & the Bad ? Thank you very much in advance. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
OK - First off - not an expert. I do have several years of experience that includes quite a bit of trial & error - which still happens. 'Building a workout' most often begins with determining what one needs the workout to accomplish. Since I do not know what you're looking to do or get from an arm routine with just D/B's and a bench, I can't effectively provide you one. What I can & will tell you though, is if you're looking to improve your yourself with resistance training (weights), a couple of D/B's and a bench is totally sufficient - especially in the early stages of the process. More on that in a bit. Next, while 'arm workouts' may be better than nothing, they may not offer you the best opportunity to transition you & your training to a more complete facility, like a commercial 'Gym'. You'd be much better served if you trained your whole body. By incorporating a combination of body weight exercises with D/B exercises, and adding a ton of determined commitment & dedication, you can effectively & safely get yourself headed in the right direction. So the Question is - How. My answer always starts with and must include eating the right stuff to support whatever your goal is, and staying away from the things that don't. Then using the correct movements while training, at the right frequency and then getting enough rest (days off & sleep). So getting back to expert advice, D/B's and a Bench - What I would highly recommend is checking out Jeff Cavaliere at AthleanX. IMO He Is an Expert ! in every way shape & form. Much of what I do - I got from him. He has a web site https://athleanx.com/ & a youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/JDCav24 that is LOADED with Everything you could possibly need to know & do to accomplish whatever your goal. As an example - this is a video of a total body workout done with 8 D/B only movements. Have Fun . . . A-Jay

Matching vs Contrasting Trailers
At this point, I will always fish something I have confidence in more effectively. So there are some jig / trailer combinations I am bery partial to. Most of them sort of match I guess. Either way, I don't believe that "matching" is the secret. I like these. A-Jay

Favorite Size Topwater Walk-The-Dog Baits ?
I rarely throw the walkers that have two trebles. The exception being the Duo Realis 110 Pencil - great bait. After that the list of non-three treble deals pretty much ends for me. The reason is fairly simple, I get bigger brown bass with the bigger bait. It's proven itself time & time again. So I don't fight it. A-Jay

What is your "If they are here they will take this" lure?
A-Rig's are a commitment for sure. For me they've become sort of an addiction /obsession. It's interesting to note that I did fish an A-Rig for two full seasons WITHOUT a BITE ! Took me a while to understand how, when & where to fish it to get bites; and I'm still learning each trip out. So Every fish I do get on an A-Rig is like redemption. It's one of the few deals I throw where it seems every bite on is a 'good one'. Admittedly there are probably other deals I could use that may get more bites but the big fish appeal is addicting, despite the intense upper body workout required. Finally it's worth noting that an A-Rig as totally helped me get through the 'Summer / Fall Transition'. During what has routinely been a 2-3 week period often leaving me asking "where are the bigger brown bass", fishing (committing to) this technique has lead directly to quite a bit of net & scale use. And if things go according to plan, next couple of weeks could be good. A-Jay

Making a big splash
Hello David and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ While I'll admit to being far for an expert in the 'art' of the no slash entry on a cast, pitch or flip, the successes I do achieve here have come from quite a bit of practice. Shorter, slower and lower trajectory offerings are often where i see the best results. So perhaps give all that a try. Good Luck A-Jay

Humminbird G3N Has Updated Software Available
Thank you for the updated feed back and sorry to hear updates went the way they did. I'm NOT a Very Technical guy - might have just enough skills to be dangerous, but I am 100% with you on the need to Restore these units in advance of an every update - PIA constantly setting the units back up again. Mine update seemed to go as planned but I haven't been on the water (hopefully tomorrow) to check for the actual fallout. I will admit that I'm looking forward to checking out what this ones leads to. Hopefully it's net use & not cursing. A-Jay

What is your "If they are here they will take this" lure?
For me, when & where big brown bass are 'found' plays big a role in technique & bait selection; current weather / water conditions too of course. I have not had major success all season, in every situation with any one deal. Early & late season, when smb are 'feeding down' - Blade bait, Vibrating Jig or Rage Bug on a Swing head. Used to be a tube but for some reason I hardly throw them any more - probably a big mistake. Especially with the Goby Infestation - Best thing ever btw. Early & late season when smb are feeding in the 'middle' of the water column, Jerkbait all day, everyday. Mid-season when smb are feeding up (not including Mayflies - that's fly rod time for me) it's a perch colored Pop Max. Mid-season when smb are feeding down, used to be drop shot a ton, now it's a Ned Rig more often than not. Also great during the big fly hatches on the bottom. Mid to Late season when smb are feeding in the middle of the water column, A-Rig. It's a big fish confidence bait for me - may not get a ton of bites, but the ones I do get, will be the Right Ones. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. A-Jay

Feeling terrible and discouraged about accidentally killing a bass
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I also love this sport and do try to handle what I catch carefully, with respect and with the intentions of releasing anything I've chosen not to keep. But experience has proven that there is always going to be a certain percentage of carnage. Understand it, do what you can not to deliberately contribute to it, but know that it happens. It's a lot like Life. Good Luck A-Jay
