Plopper style bait hook up rate
Change out stock hooks. As for misses - whatever the bait was doing to elicit the strike - I'll keep doing after a miss. So if I'm throwing a walking bait and get hit but the fish missed it - I keep on walking it. If I'm throwing a popper and the fish hit & missed it at rest (which rarely happens to me btw) I'll leave it sit. Might pop it once after a moment, but I'm not moving it much (distance wise) at first. Come back hook ups are more common for me with moving topwater baits than baits like poppers. Perhaps because there was more than 1 bass following the bait. Either way, getting big brown bass on walkers & poppers always pegs my fun meter . . . . A-Jay

Bassmasters top 100 bass lakes 2019
I've posted a lot of big fish here from #5 on the "Northeast" list. "Northeast" ? - Maybe that explains my funny accent. I always thought those bodies of water were part of the Lake Menderchuck Chain . . . . . . Who Knew ? A-Jay

The latest sale thread
I usually use TW sales to 'stock up' on disposable items, - line & assorted terminal tackle. Brand websites routinely command top price point. Just for reference - May not be the case for EVERY item, but you can decide for yourself. A-Jay

Seems TW has adjusted (insert raised) the prices on several items. As the 'sale' discount is applied, there is less of it actually realized. Disappointing. A-Jay

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
Clearly I am straying well into the off topic lane here but . . . . . That type of callow response comes easy if you are not currently employed in a LE / public servant capacity and never have been. Perhaps think about how much you would need to be 'paid' to have being shot at as part of your job description. I'm done. A-Jay

Calling Aluminum Boat Anglers!!
Very Dry ~ From rain or water / waves washing over the deck. There is a raised frame up from the deck at the top & inside each space which 'seal' nicely into the foam material inside each lid. Effectively channels topside water away from the spaces and into the bilge. The 'latch' on each lid is adjustable to ensure a snug closure. The spaces are not 'ventilated' - so if left closed up tight, there can be some condensation associated with fluctuating temperature and or humidity. Simply airing it out address it. A-Jay

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
What may be equally as 'sad' is when people conduct themselves in a manner that elicits that type of response from the brave men & women who chose to protect us and put their life on the line every minute of their entire work day (and night) for total strangers. A-Jay

New to drop shotting
Sounds good. A small bead at the end of the line could act like a weight stopper as well. Those VMC DS hooks will do the trick too. Leader (hook to weight) distance length can vary but 12-14 inches is a good starting point. A-Jay

New to drop shotting
Fishing a drop shot, like many techniques, can be as simple or complicated as we want to make it. There are some priorities that regardless of how far or not that one takes it, can make the whole deal more effective. First one for me is line twist. The constant up & down of the rig can twist the heck out of the line. Rigging the bait straight (no spinning) helps as does using a weight rigging method that come through the water (up & down) without spinning is highly desirable as well. SO yes you can tie a bullet weight to your line and it will get you to the bottom, but if it's spinning like a top the whole time, you're going to realize the badness in short order. I prefer braid (8 or 10lb) and a leaders (6-8lb) but may anglers do well with Mono & FC too. As for baits, there options are endless. Worms, stick baits, fluke style and everything in between work. Here's a little more info Good Luck A-Jay

The Law
Nicely Done ~ Looking forward to reading your version of the accounts of this crazy tournament. I watched the weigh-ins. So many huge bags of brown bass. Seemed unprecedented for that level of competition. Congrats on a great Derby and your 5th place finish. A-Jay

MEGA 360 Is Here
Well, despite my feelings towards the following statement, I don't have enough time left on the planet to justify chasing this electronic money missile . . . Pretty certain I'll be fishing what I have until this deal is done. Been doing OK so far. Besides, there is No Way I'm doing anything to undermine trips south of the border - just too epic ! A-Jay

Boat Planing Issue
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ So you're running a 22P on a 90hp motor, the boat will not plane out but your motor over revs ? Is that right ? Seems like a rather unusual situation. Your rig is rated for 60-135 hp - so at 90hp, you're sort of in the middle right there. While I will attest that I'm NOT a Prop expert by any means, I can offer some info for reference. I am running a 21P Tempest Plus on a 200HP V-8 Pro XS - on the back of an 18 ft Aluminum Hull Pro-V Bass boat and it's pretty much perfect. I had a 22P on my rig initially and it was clearly Too Much Prop for 200hp 2 stroke Optimax I was running at the time. Can't imagine 22P on your 90hp is going to improve anything. Has your rig been re-powered ? How long have you had this boat ? What other rigs have to had or run in the past ? Also, you can always contact Tracker and or Mercury Marine and ask them for some guidance. A-Jay
