  2. Still working on that New Years Resolution - from 1979. Chest, Shoulders & Triceps this morning. Finished up with some Core Work. Creeping up on 60 years old and all things considered, I feel pretty good. Hope that continues. A-Jay
  3. Nah, we just let him have his head at the end of a good run - He'll usually gas out after a couple of hundred yard and then come back for a 'treat'. A-Jay
  4. I have actually approached many a manually powered vessel in places where power driven vessels are routinely on plane at speeds in excess of 75 ft per second (just over 51 mph), to politely notify them that due to the low light or low sun, combined with the sea state & the color of their clothing and craft - they are virtually INVISIBLE. Some thank me. Some don't seem to care. And few - well we'll skip those. A-Jay

  6. I've spent a fair amount of time on the water behind the wheel of many different types of power driven vessels as well as paddle powered crafts. While under power & especially on plane, I'm following the rules of the road, keeping a safe distance from all vessels including kayaks. While fishing from my canoe, while I 'can' fish where ever I want, I will rarely allow my safety to be dictated by another person's vigilance - or lack there of. Meaning, I'm not ever putting myself anywhere near anyone who can kill me - regardless if I have 'the right to be there' or not. Falls under the rule of gross tonnage. I'd also have the right to end up in a body bag. If you choose to take that risk - that's your business. At the very least get something like this ~ Please know that it can only help if & when the person operating / navigating the other vessel, is actually looking where they're going and or not some how otherwise distracted. Good Luck. A-Jay

  8. I ordered both the Calcutta D's I demo-ed ~ before I even returned them. But I 'needed' them; really . . . . . Not long after I had 5 Recently traded one for a Tranx. A-Jay
  9. Warning - this is the Reel Monkey's "secret weapon". A-Jay
  10. Yes ~ Do it. btw - the first time you use the Demo program, along with the shipping charge - you may be required to supply a "deposit" equal to the reel(s) price. TW will charge your CC which they will refund the day they receive the returned reel(s). It's a CYA thing. A-Jay
  11. The slack line flutter accounts for at least 75 % of the bass I catch on the RES. A-Jay
  12. The Charlestown Chiefs & the Hanson Brothers ~ They know where it's at ! ? A-Jay
  13. Single hook baits & hooks used while rigging ~ Yes. The excepting being I guess drop shot hooks - I just replace those. Treble hooks get replaced - often. A-Jay
  14. @Fishin' Fool ~ Guess you & I need to be learning sum stuph ~ A-Jay

  16. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Here's a little light reading that might help you out. It's worked OK for me. A-Jay
  17. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I've tried quite a few on my spinning gear, with various levels of satisfaction & results. I keep coming back to and am currently using Sufix 832 in 10 - 20 lb test. For me, it has the right combination of size, strength, manageability, durability, predictability, consistency & $$. Leader type & size varies depending on application but includes 6-12 lb mono (Big Game) & 6-10 lb Flourocarbon (Seaguar Tatsu, Invisx & AbrasX.) And despite the plethora of braid to nylon connection knots used, I have been using a uni knot to uni knot connection for a long time. In both salt & freshwater application, the uni-uni is strong, small enough & easy to tie while offering what I'd consider at least an average level of effectiveness & success. YMMV I purchased my first spool of 20 lb Power Pro Maxcuatro Spectra Braided Line Moss Green to try this spring. Initial impressions are good; seems very thin & manageable for it's test. We'll see. 18. Still getting used to this deal - Like it so far though. A-Jay
  19. Not so much - Fortunately we got a two-day flash melt between this and the last blow. So at least 50 % of the raw tonnage went away without human intervention. I'm good with that. Be looking for another one soon but it's not looking good. A-Jay
  20. 4th warning in a row for us - snow is piling up here pretty good. The good thing - this always means the lakes will all be very FULL. The bad - ice out might be later The worst - even if the lakes somehow melt off before June, Access roads could ALL be snow covered until Jew-Lie ! 21. I fished from a canoe for over Ten Years. Had a great time and managed to catch a few along the way. Purchase a new rig a couple of seasons back. Having a great time and managing to catch more & bigger fish. Have not regretted my decision for even One Second. My Grandfather told me that when I thought something was 'expensive' it meant I couldn't afford it. Actually not the case regarding my new rig. IMO Time is a much more valued commodity than $$$$ will every be. Life is short and tomorrow is guaranteed to no one. The richest among us realize this sooner rather than later; regardless of how much $$$ they may have. A-Jay
  22. Nice ~ And sweet lace job too. Congrats J A-Jay
