  2. This one’s a decent example of how I prefer these Full Body deals to go; Brief, Intense & Effective. While the PowerTech is an excellent piece of equipment, and having a little home gym is super convenient, it does have its limitations. Continuing to be creative (and safe) pays off and can allow me to get the most out of it. If things go according to plan, I’ll put up the next three Total Body workouts as I complete them. I’m using four routines; each one is slightly different. A-Jay
  3. It's been snowing here since yesterday and will most likely continue until dark. I might clean it up tomorrow - or I might not. We'll see how it goes . . . No Promises. A-Jay
  4. Thanks for the support my friend I appreciate it. Great to hear you're trending in a direction that you're proud of - and you should be. The Commitment & Dedication it takes to go from where you were to where you are, is fantastic. Now that that you've got plenty of momentum, there's no stopping you. Congrats and continued success to you. A-Jay I have not tried that, does seem like it would be good though. Core strength has been part of my deal for a while now. This was 5 years ago - I was preparing to celebrate my 11th birthday - for the 5th time. And after this mornings training, I can say, I haven't really lost much. A-Jay
  5. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Congrats on the new rig and Good Luck with your build. A-Jay
  6. OK ~ Thanks for sharing. Back during my busiest Search & Rescue days - I had to take 'summer's' off from training as I was either on the water or sleeping with little to no time to train. Loved the work, hated the no training. Tried to make up for it from Oct to May but it was tough. Wasn't eating much when not training either - looking back, that was a mistake. Worked out though. 7. Thanks. I know - Me Too. How's Medical School Going ? A-Jay
  8. So I guess the winter's are long in Maine too . . . A-Jay
  9. Sweet way to start the season with such a Great Bass ~ Congrats on the new PB And Welcome to the 7 lb Club. A-Jay
  10. @Dirtyeggroll Thank you very much Michael, that was very helpful. A-Jay
  11. Interesting. While you are certainly entitled to you opinion, I do not share it. The quality of the Quantum equipment I have & use is quite good. But I'm basing my opinion purely on the result. Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong . . . . . A-Jay

  13. My eating 'habits' have changed over the years - they had to. I eat small meals - 5-6 a day. By common standards, they are really small. When I'm doing it right, I'm still 'hungry' immediately after each one. (that's the magic) So I feel like I may be 'fasting', all be it briefly, between every one and several times a day. Does that count ? ? A-Jay
  14. We've had worse but this last one was significant. Not over yet - seems more on the way later this week. No sense getting impatient. Made it this far - toughest days are coming though. That's when the suns out in April, it's 50 plus degrees and the lakes are still frozen solid with 4 feet of snow on every lake access road. Not a fan of that scene - but it's coming too. I know the pay off is good so I bide my time, get my gear, boat motor & trailer ready and keep knocking out workouts every other day. A-Jay
  15. I always eat on the water - always. My food prep for a trip is done Before tackle Prep - always. I'd rather forget my rods than my food. Skipping meals and neglecting sufficient hydration leads to sadness in the form of a nice fat headache - hate it. Can't expect the engine to run right without some gas in the tank, so I like to keep it topped off. Allows me to stay on the water longer and be at my best for several consecutive days. I use flat bread wraps a ton - and simply roll up whatever quality protein I'm having at home; usually chicken, turkey, beef or fish. Add some veggies & a light 'sauce' (balsamic vinegar & avocado oil) and I'm good to go. Try to stay away from cheese and standard cold cuts aren't too bad but do have a ton of salt I'd rather not become one with. Other all season staples include but are not limited to; Cliff bars, protein bars, Crockett Creek jerky (no msg), assorted fresh fruit, (but no bananas) and yogurt. Plenty of water and depending on air temps - Hot or Iced Coffee - been known to pound the occasional Red Bull Zero if my carcass is dragging and the bite is on. And I've found that after a full day n the water, having a quality 'meal' ready to eat in the truck on the way home can be very beneficial; Especially when the ride is home is 90 minutes of more. Often saves a ton of time and earns me extra sleep by not having to eat as soon as I get home. Just prep the rig, hit the rack and I'm up at the crack of dawn to do it all over again - is it spring yet ! So chow's a priority for me and I do whatever I need to, to ensure I'm set up. It's not easy or fast, but I'm worth it. A-Jay
  16. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Bass Congrats A-Jay
  17. Way to Grind ~ Thanks for sharing and good luck on Kentucky Lake. A-Jay
  18. Please do both - It may also be advisable to expect every boater is trying to run you down and make it your responsibility to do everything you can do, to never offer them even a chance to do so. May mean changing how & where you're fishing now - but it might just save your life. Risk is a tricky deal I know that sounds grim but would you jump from the plane with a parachute that you know will not open 5 % of the time ? Me either. Unfortunately, experience has shown - that sometimes, it just doesn't matter what YOU DO - if the other human is not looking or distracted - bad things happen. Thankfully these lucky soles were not killed. A-Jay
  19. Hard to tell with all the blowing & drifting action but I guess somewhere between 8-12 maybe a little more. And I think the Kids will get over it - I like the idea of the extended school year because it keeps the lakes quiet just that much longer A-Jay

  21. Not a good sign when the county road commission's rig get stuck in a drift - A-Jay
  22. Thank you my friend ~ I appreciate the support. However, all of my 'logic' simply reduces the viability of blaming my equipment when I loose a Big Tank ! And that only leaves the knucklehead with sad face holding the rod. A-Jay
  23. If simply spinning the hand around on the face of a clock could some how cause this mess (snow & ice) to magically vanish . . . . . I'd have worn my right index finger to the bone a looooong time ago . . . A-Jay
  24. That's a fair question Mike ~ Specifically my stick of choice here is the Quantum KVD composite cranking rod - in the 7' & 7'-4' lengths both MH. A little background regarding my personal over all blank preference - it revolves around 'The Bend'. I like one. I will use an xtra-fast rod for top water & jerk baits - because they do excel there IMO - that's where their use ends in my arsenal. I even prefer a longer MHMF for jigs - although graphite rules here for me. Additionally, I believe that there is a misconception out there carried on by anglers who have little to no experience using composite or even fiberglass blanks (And I'm not including you in this) that because the blank actually 'bends', that it is somehow also - not powerful enough. I do not find that to be the case at all. While there may be a perceived 'delay' in when the 'power' gets there, these sticks have plenty. But it comes from the last third of the blank, rather than starting at the very tip, and one has to get there first: meaning you have to load the rod up. I look at it like using an accelerator. If you want full power, you need to step on the gas. All of this is what keeps me fishing these killer wands. So back to spinnerbaits - I see this composite blank offering me a least two desirable characteristic. The vast majority of my spinnerbait fishing is a long distance toss presentation - composite stick makes that task easier. By requiring less effort each cast, while getting plenty of distance from my rig, I am able to stay at it & on the water longer - First advantage. Despite having a stout single hook, spinnerbaits (and vibrating jigs) design, with the heavy lead head & blade configuration, can & do get tossed away by a few spirited brown bass - a bent rod throughout the duration of the battle, especially boat side, helps keep me pinned up. Second Advantage. Now I'm not saying that other materials / blanks do not provide the same deals, I just prefer the manner in which these sticks take care of business for me. They have accounted for several really respectable brown bass for me the past three seasons, including my PB. So whatever it is about them, they suit my style. A-Jay
