Lake Baccarac ~ Oct 2018 In-Sane ! Video Added
Thanks - it is a great trip. We stay at Lake Baccarac Lodge. They provide the guides and yes they do pick you up at the airport if you fly commercial air. There is also a private air option where you are flown directly fm the US to the air strip close to the lodge. (still have to clear customs in Mexico first though) We use that although it's more $$$. We use own own gear - you can rent rods at the lodge if you want A-Jay

Starting a YouTube Channel
I look at the video's I post here as a different way to post a "Report". I thoroughly enjoy seeing & reading about BR member's fishing adventures as well as sharing my own. So if a 'picture is worth a thousand words', digital video may be the next level. Perhaps posting about or sharing your fishing exploits is not your thing; (you've never made one here) and that's fine. Either way, your last paragraph above is condescending. A-Jay

Sign of a stellar up coming season
Wow ~ what an epiphany ! And it's interesting that I as sit here next to an early season hot- wood burning stove, it's so painful each time my gaze wonders out the window. The pathetically frozen half white with snow, half brown with dead leaves tundra is starring back at me. Taunting me almost if saying "Ha Ha you poor sap - you could have been fishing". It's just so reassuring to know that someone else is thinking of me and at the same time sharing my pain. Last season Ice-out came a month late and was cut a month short - just brutal. Still I did what I could within the brief time but it wasn't nearly enough to make up for what eventually turned out to be an Epically Poor Pre-spawn. (5 & 6 lb smallies aside). And now to top it all off - I now have to cope with the image of @Columbia Craw in a deep state of depression, scarfing down his flap jacks ~ What's up with THAT ? ! ? A-Jay

I got a great deal on Black Friday!
Yup ~ And currently 1000 yds of 15lb shows a substantial savings ($73) vs TW's asking price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094FLO1G/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Put that in your pipe & smoke it . . . . A-Jay

What are you putting on your fishing Christmas list?
Some serious rides and You are correct Sir. Bought her new in 06. Sold her 10 years later in pristine condition, with 18K & change on her. Loved her when I had her and loved what she eventually did for me. I do miss her though - Sure was a blast to drive. A-Jay

Launching and loading
I'm always fishing solo. Launching early season means no docks in yet. Pro-V drafts 16 inches or so. With a controlled launch where rig is floating just off trailer, deploying talons - boat sit there waiting for me. With a pair of light hip boots on & off - I'm done. Reverse the operation to recover. Super easy. Once the docks are in - it's like cheating. Pic below, rig's Talon's down & sitting in 20 inches or knee deep on me. A-Jay

drop shot with deep vegetation from shore
Here's some thoughts ~ Your pond offers some distinctly challenging conditions - especially fishing from shore; but I believe it's manageable. Initially, you'll need to be able to accurately & effectively present a bait to the bass in order to get bit. Then, you'll need to be able to detect the strike, set the hook and be fishing tackle (rod, reel, line & terminal tackle) stout enough to land a big & no doubt determined bass up, though or out of all that vegetation to your waiting thumb. In my mind, a traditional light line drop shot may not be the way to go. Although often thought of as more of an open water presentation, a drop shot can be an option if you pump up the tackle sufficiently to get a fatty out of that mess. I'd consider a Texas rigged bait instead of anything open hook though. Still a weight dangling down into cover and behind a hooked bass during a fight through matted vegetation might be problematic. Have you considered or tried a weightless Texas rigged stick bait - like a Senko ? Allowing these baits to settle on the vegetation on the bottom and then slowly working them back, (with plenty of long pauses) is in many instances very effective; especially when fished in the conditions you've presented here. Good Luck A-Jay
