Football Jigs
BR sponsor Siebert Outdoors offers a wide variety of quality jig including an even Dozen different types of football jigs. The quality & color selection is top shelf. Makes it tough to pick a favorite but the Derocker G2 Football Jig is next generation football jig. It incorporates a recessed eye for knot protection and angles on the bottom of the head. For me the Black Green Pumpkin color is a fan favorite. A-Jay http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Football-Jigs_c52.htm

Plastics in Ponds - Retrospective on the Rookie Season
Nicely Done ~ After reading your above account, I do not see any mention of a jig. Sounds to me like this would be a very natural & seamless transition for you to make. The infamous Jig & Craw is historically a bait that will get a quality bite. And if you choose to go that way, I do believe that you'll be pleasantly surprised at your results. Good Luck with your continued success. A-Jay

This is serious.
Until it happens to the human in charge of making the decision to change it (or an immediate family member), it could be a while. Thanks for the heads up. A-Jay

Going back...
Like so many, my memories are sacred and seem to become even more precious with time. Not so sure I'd be willing to go back. Don't want to mess up a good thing . . . . . . . . A-Jay

1999 Triton TR19 - Should I pull the trigger?
Everyone's Idea of a 'great deal' is different. I'm not attempting to discourage you, just trying to present a different perspective. So the lower unit's new - good I guess. What about the rest of the motor ? There have been quite a few threads here over the years regarding pre-owner boat purchases. The happiest customers seem to be the ones who purchased a rig from the current century. Don't get new to me rig tunnel vision ~ that can be hazardous to your future time on the water, wallet & frustration level. Good Luck A-Jay

1999 Triton TR19 - Should I pull the trigger?
You're buying the Boat Motor & trailer. So I'd encourage you focus your assessment energies there. The accessories are just that. The current owner did replace some stuff - the EASY stuff ! But the boat's wiring, battery charger, the trailer wiring, the trailer axle, the MOTOR (which you did not mention and is an important component of any deal), the boat carpet, the condition of the decking & Transom, all that (and whatever I left out) has a decent chance of being original equipment at 18 years old. So you could probably plan on replacing something else. Additionally it seems like your financial position may not allow for immediate extra costs. Finally, just because a newer rig for sale hasn't fallen into your lap doesn't mean that they're not out there. I'd keep looking. May be a good deal if you think it is ~ I'm betting the current owner thinks it is. Good Luck A-Jay

Is it even worth it?
Regardless of the conditions, if you're not enjoying yourself, what's the point exactly ? Bad weather has a way of becoming a non-factor when I'm using the net a bunch. Good Luck with whatever you decide. A-Jay

Stick-on readers on sunglasses
I'm a 'reader sunglass wearer' as well. Tried the stick-on. Did not care for them. Didn't really work for me. Have since gone to ONOs. Solid, quality & comfortable sunglass with readers that work. Many style (and sizes) to choose from. I have 3 pairs, One in the truck & 2 in the boat. A-Jay http://onos.com/bifocals-readers-sunglasses.html
