  1. Hello Josh and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  2. I rarely part with rods - reels yes, but rods not so much. Past few winters have seen me removing original guides on a few of my favorites and spinning on new ones. Over the years the wraps start to weaken making this necessary to continue to fish them. The improvements available in rings today allow for a nice upgrade. Handles the same, like an old friend, but in some respects it's a "like a whole new rod" A-Jay
  3. This kind yes - the other kind, well - No. A-Jay

Hello and Welcome (back) to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  7. Used to call that a dropper knot. It's routinely tied without the hook tied into it but with a short length of line left between the main line & the hook - length is completely adjustable. Works well. Can't speak for how the knot will perform when the shank of the hook is actually incorporated into the knot like shown here. I do expect it to perform at it's best if that music is playing in the background while it's tied up. A-Jay
  8. @Fishin' Fool I started out using the Baby Craw, nose hooked on I think a size 1 Owner Mosquito Hooks (my drop shot hook of choice btw) and I got a ton of bites but many were in the "Keeper" size. So, I bumped it up to the Rage Craw - I've used both a 1/0 Owner Mosquito Hook in open water presentatons and when there's a little bottom cover, I'll go with a standard size 1 or size 2 Gamakatsu standard EWG Tex-posed. Bites got A LOT BIGGER. Both rigs are spinning gear deals with 10 braid mainline & a nylon leader. The nose hook rigs are usually 6 lb leader. When I go Tex-posed and the ewg, I will bump up my gear a bit to match the circumstances; usually 8 lb but have gone up to 10lb on occasion. This is by far my most effective warm water / clear deep water bite getter, especially on smallies. The Tex-pose drop-shot craw is also a decent mid-deep water "search bait" especially on New to me lakes. The rig can be fished around wood quite effectively and even into it a bit, if you're brave enough. I've gotten burned a few times pretty good doing it though, a jig is usually a better choice. Secret to the Whole Deal - cast it out, LEAVE IT ! No 'working" the bait - just let it soak for a bit - you decide on how long, but the bites will let you know. After some time drag it a bit - again, you decide how far. But overworking it will often result in less action, especially if the bite is tough. If the bass are nailing it while I moving it - I switching to something else. Think Live Bait. I'd say try it - you just might like it. oh, and dipping the claws can be Money ! A-Jay
  9. That is a pretty Killer deal ~ Good Looking out. A-Jay
  10. SK Rage Craw on a Drop Shot ~ Sometimes it's like throwing Live Bait And the Z Man Finesse T.R.D. on a Ned rig comes in at second, but is challenging to take over the number 1 spot. A-Jay

  15. The Waters I'm fishing in up here are seriously clear. My approach towards being successful when fishing it has many layers. Bait color is one of, if not the Last one. There are days when it's a big deal, but many days I could use 4 or 5 colors of the same bait / presentation with equal success. However, in many cases, my most productive approach when presenting bottom contact plastics is to choose a color / pattern that matches the bottom color as closely as possible. If it's a mostly open / bare sand bottom, that's what I'll go with. If there is a blanket of vegetation, on the bottom &/or extremely prevalent in the area I'm fishing, going with a watermelon or green something can be the deal. My thought here is that the bass know their environment and although big color difference can & does get bit, the bass's natural prey is almost always trying to avoid detection, so a camouflaging color pattern makes sense. 16. No - it's more of a "Casey Ashley' re-enactment. A-Jay
  17. Nice ~ well I'll be really looking forward to seeing & especially hearing a good ol'boy from the Yellowhammer state take a whack at that ! Post up some video please .. .. .. .. .. A-Jay
  18. When looking at the bait without a skirt (pic below) the space (indentation) closest to the hinge is where the shirt should be positioned. Skirt replacements are simply a matter of removing the old & sliding on the new, not unlike most baits with this design (hinge not with standing of course). The replacement operation can effectively be improved with the addition of a little saliva or even better Megastrike, to promote an easy slide - it's a desirably snug fit. A-Jay
  19. Not a fan of this particular "pre-fishing" move by a recent Classic winner. A-Jay
  20. What might also be noteworthy is that my Mercury Fuel Fund is better for it. A-Jay
  21. I'm starting to see a trend . . . . And with good reason. A-Jay http://www.megastrike.com/cavitron
  22. Houston has a Solid Defense that is Coached by Experienced Men who are very familiar with the "Patriot's Way". The "experts" expected a blow out but as is routinely the case - they were proven wrong. . . . . It was a hard fought playoff game which is the way it's suppose to go - I'd agree if the Pats turn it over against either incoming opponent next week they will get blown out. If not - it should be another competitive game. A-Jay
  23. It's on to the AFC Championship Game With Another Record ~ A-Jay
  24. The Megastrike Strike Back was my top producing spinnerbait this past season. A-Jay
