  1. Although I can & do fish jerkbaits on casting gear, hurling then into a stiff breeze all day (which seems quite prevalent early & late season) isn't best case scenario. I use spinning gear for the vast majority of my jerkbait presentations. The Main benefit in my eyes is the ability to make long casts using light line STRAIGHT into the wind. I catch a lot of decent smallmouth this way. A-Jay

  6. I spent TWO DAYS at that show last year - I went the first two days and did catch multiple shows with Zona & did see KVD - Both did Q & A after each presentation and did a nice job. My mission was to check out the new Lund Pro-V bass boat as my closest dealer didn't have one. Also got to check out all the accessories I needed to add - electronics, Trolling motor, Talons and got to talk to sales reps from Hummingbird, Mercury, Minn Kota and of course Lund. Well worth the trip south for me. Not going this year though. No Need for me. I'd recommend it. A-Jay

Although your "approach" of "think bass will only bite because they are actively feeding or something makes them react instinctively" may be different from anglers you've fished with, it's something most all of the best sticks I know are quite familiar with. And while agree that "soaking" a bait waiting for a bite is not a super popular presentation, (insert dead sticking a Senko) that might not be where the use of an effective bait scent is most beneficial. Clearly, until bass start to talk to us, we'll never really know how or even if the use of scent makes any difference at all. Being very satisfied with your own fish catches without one is what leads me to believe that you're a perfect candidate to actually use one. You see @RichF, you're already getting your baits in front of many great fish and catching plenty too. But what you & I don't know is just how many true GIANTS, are turning their collective Huge noses up are our Jigs .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Having been using Megastrike for a while now I know that many bass eat baits that have it liberally applied. I'll never know about the ones that don't. But considering the piles & piles of $$$ I'm already spending to catch those green & brown fish, another 8 bucks doesn't even register. PM me your address, I'll send you a tube. A-Jay

  11. St Croix LTB TBC74HF / SLOP-N-FROG & SWIM JIG Rod. 7'4" H Fast 14 - 25 lb 3/8 - 1 1/2 St Croix presents this stick as a perfect rod for fishing slop and lily pads with frogs and rats and it's also recommended for swim jigs and I can't argue with that. However this rods length, nice tip & seemingly never ending power, light weight, impressive sensitivity & perfect handle length enables it to fish big spinnerbaits very effectively. A-Jay
  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ All great response so far. You're getting the benefit of a TON of bass fishing experience. I'd have to agree that there are a lot of different ways to present soft plastics and which one you chose is often just a matter of personal preference. "Lure Versatility" is handy I suppose, but I want as many effective tools in the box as it will hold, Versatile or not. Being proficient with them all is also quite beneficial. A-Jay

There are quite a difference of opinions regarding scent use. I choose to use @Bobby Uhrig's product. This stuff has been as important an addition to my bass fishing as Braided line. I slather this stuff on just about everything I cast. A-Jay
