Fishing scale
Thanks for the complement, I really appreciate it. I wish had and could I could pass on some "secret" but I truly do not. I use a Nikon Coolpix HD digital camera that is several years old and I usually try to fill the frame with the fish. The one thing that always seems to really help me at least, is to catch Big Bass to photo .. .. .. Doesn't happen nearly enough if you ask me, but when it does I hope to get a decent picture. An alterative method of getting a decent picture is to capture a "Still shot" from a video. I think this bass pic is one of those. A-Jay

Power Pro vs Sufix 832
I've been spooling up with 832 for a couple of seasons now. It's on 3 or 4 casting outfits and All of my spinning gear. PP was my braid of choice prior to the switch. I never had a "problems" with the PP, just wanted to try the "New Line". I like it. And although the manufacturer's published line diameters indicate the PP is a couple of hundredths of a millimeter thinner than the 832, I haven't recognized this to be a factor one way or the other. I think the 832 handles a little better especially in the long run. That being said, and since the price for each is relatively close (I think the Sufix is perhaps a little more) I'd say you can't go wrong with either one. Deal is that these braids usually last several season so I'm probably not going to need to pick one way or the other for some time. A-Jay

In a slump, and out of ideas...
Find the steepest drop you can - preferably one that's on an inside turn and drops directly into the main lake basin or the deepest water available. Watch the video in this link, tie on a 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 oz blade bait and fish it exactly like Scott does and I bet you'll get bit. Try setting up on the shallow side, cast into the deep and work it back - the reverse is often very effective as well. Good Luck A-Jay

You know - It's funny. You can't find this old, time tested & effective Plano spinnerbait box for sale anywhere these days. and yet they are routinely popping up on the BR forums. Here's mine. A-Jay

Want To Buy a Dedicated Jerkbait Rod
I'm in the @FryDog62 camp on this one. With the vast majority of my jerkbait strikes coming on the pause (especially early & late season) using gear (rod & line size & type) that allows for hyper-sensitive strike detection is a bonus. That gear type could be different for each angler. For me it's usually a St Croix 7' 1" M Fast Spinner (LTB) A Shimano stradic 2500 spooled w/ 10lb braid & a 10 lb mono leader. And as side tip - I will always approach fish from either directly up or down wind, when conditions permit. The "Bow" caused by the wind not only messes with strike detection but if it's strong enough, may blow the bait around some on the pause which is a little funky and usually reduces strikes. A-Jay

how many spots do you mark on a map?
Perfect Wayne ~ I don't remember if I have mentioned it yet here on BR or not ~ but I've been a Smart Strike User & Abuser since late spring this past season. Remarkable is one way to describe it but so is "hit or miss" as well. Certainly offers a starting point on new water. And when I wasn't getting bit in the designated spots, often times if I just "expanded" it area a little - I did. A-Jay

how many spots do you mark on a map?
Well before getting on the water (especially new ones) and without the need for paper maps, I've been using the Humminbird Contour Elite computer software. The State-of-the-art mapping technology paired with the most accurate lake data available means less time wandering around the lake and more time in what as proven to be mostly productive water. With both CD & down load options it's very convenient. http://contourelite.com/ http://contourelite.com/features/ http://www.humminbird.com/Products/CEGL3/ And to answer the OP's question as to "how many spots do I mark ?" I'll go with Several .. .. .. .. A-Jay

Monofilament
Berkley Big Game Green has been a major component of my Bass fishing for a long time. I especially like it as a leader in front of a braid main line. When I want a nylon (non-flouro) leader or even main line with a higher level of abrasion resistance, I reach for Maxima Ultragreen. I also use an older (discontinued) Stren Mono called Magnaflex that I like quite a bit. A-Jay

Outliers
Is this even for real ? Projecting an individuals level of Success based on when they were conceived seems bizarre and more akin to an April's Fools Day Joke than an actual indication of fact. Sort of like saying all the best anglers have a dog named Benny . . . I'm not seeing it Sam. A-Jay
