Nice ~ But it seems I have this on going feud each winter with the local road commission. They must get extra pay for plowing down residential road side mail boxes and for what ever reason Mine must be worth a little more. Because they work overtime each season trying to take it out. "Capable to go on Erie" may mean something different to each boater. My own Lund Pro V Bass boat is just under 19 ft. It's an aluminum very deep V hull (when compared to most traditional bass boat configurations). Although this Lund is very capable on any & all of the larger inland lakes I fish, the big lakes get dangerously nasty fast. And although I'm surrounded by the Great Lakes, my boat will never seen one. There's a ton of other & safer water for me to fish so I choose not to intentionally take on that much risk. Just no need. The boat that is truly safe on the Big Lakes, may actually be too big for many of the mid to smaller waters I current fish. "When All Else Fails" my fall back is a Drop Shot with either a SK Rage Craw or a SK DB Craw. Nose hooked or on a tex-posed on thin wire ewg. If this doesn't do it I go to a wacky Senko ~ ( just Please don't tell @Darren.) A-Jay

I had the same deal as well. If you're looking for a beefy (but not too much) EWG - try the Owner Wide Gap Plus Black Chrome Hooks. I have had Very Good Success with them; It's advertised as having a "Cutting Point" and it does. But it's a different sort of triangular design that translates to Solid hook ups without gashing through the plastics when tex-posed. One of my Go To Hooks in many situations. A-Jay

Where as the Subaru Outback (2014) weighs somewhere around 3400 lbs A1500 GMC pick up crew cab (2010) for example weighs a bit over 5400 lbs The extra ton is a nice to have right there; especially when braking. The rule of gross tonnage applies. You may need a different vehicle to safely tow that boat. A-Jay

If I have a choice, especially in shallower waters, I prefer the sun in my face & the wind at my back. There have been times where the wind in my face would double my bites. A-Jay

I been using a uni to uni-knot to connect braid to a mono leader for several years and when tied correctly and re-tied when needed, it's NEVER let me down. I've attached a thread (and video) of a 25 lb plus pike that I fought & landed with spinning gear while smallie fishing. This battle lasted over 15 minutes. The 10 lb Sufix 832 braid and 10lb Berkley Big Game (green) mono leader that included a uni to uni knot was certainly tested but did it's job. There are certainly any number of connection knots that when tied correctly would have worked here - the uni is the one I choose & have confidence in; especially after this event. I'll admit and you'll hear in the video - I was intially a little concerned. A-Jay
