  1. I use Cabels Guidewear - huge fan The Gortex Angler Jacket & Pants are great for rain & cool wind but not for cold - as it's just a shell. For very cold use I have the Gortex Thinsulite Parka & Bibs - these are very warm but a bit bulky to fish in. But when it super cold & wet - these and good. For the in bewteen deals - I layer thermal clothing under the Shell outfit - it's lighter, easier to fish in all day & does keep me warm & dry. A-Jay

  3. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  4. Try fishing a spybait like a slow motion jerkbait ~ A-Jay
  5. Dude ~ ! Nice Smallie PB's are Always a Blast Congrats btw - stop throwing topwater in November - you'll hurt yourself . . A-Jay
  6. Nice work ~ The freak bass in that last pic are so stout that they actually look deformed ~ but in the best way possible. Congrats A-Jay
  7. This may be the last trip ~ but it's hard to put up the boat when there's still a solid Jerkbait bite. A-Jay
  8. Sounds unpleasant to say the least. Hope you can get to feeling better soon. In the mean time a little snoot of Berheim Wheat every now & then might help to take the edge off. A-Jay
  9. I'm with ya ~ It's all good. I had a good laugh when I opened the thread. That one has to possess some decent old school Mojo. A-Jay
  10. Sweet Rig ~ and you're very tricky . . . . And there's this winter's project. Congrats A-Jay
  11. Have only had my Lund for this one season, but so far I'm quite satisfied. This one's 18'9" LOA with a 96" beam - she weighs 1475 hull only. The IPS2Hull design though Time Tested & Dependable is certainly Not a speed demon. However, with the 200 hp 2-stroke it has no problem getting around. Top end is 60 mph with just me & my gear. Additionally, trailering, launching & recovery (solo) are all completely doable, especially considering your own level of experience. Best of Luck to you on your journey from Plastic to Metal. A-Jay
  12. Saying you're fishing Mexico - is a little vague - it's a big place. It's like saying "I'm fishing North America - what should I use?" So Realistically Effective recommendations may be hard to get here. Your best bet is LISTEN to your Guide if you're using one OR fish whatever the anglers that fish this specific body of water regularly (and recently) recommend. Also, if you've been there before perhaps start out with baits that have worked in the past. My experience there is that Big Swimbaits do not necessarily guarantee the big bite but may contribute to less bites. I'd recommend fishing what the bass are biting and if & when you come across a Grande, you'll have just a good a chance of getting her with standard baits. Nothing wrong with bumping up your gear a notch or two though; especially line, hooks, trebles & split rings. btw - my four largest bass south of the border came on a 3/4 oz Rattlebait, Magnum Flukes, 1/2 oz Jig, 1 oz Spinnerbait, & 3/8 oz Scrounger- Good Luck. 13. I knew that was coming A-Jay
  14. Great SMB lures ~ SMB are suicidal during the spawn - so during that period a spark plug is OK. What's getting it done during pre-spawn, the dog days of summer and the fall transition ? Refer to farmers post - "Suspending jerkbait silver buddy style blade bait tube drop shot with a nose hooked 3"-4" minnow type bait 4" single tail grub on a ball head compact football jig with small craw trailer" A-Jay
  15. Can't link the video - but here's some info https://lockerdome.com/6601924556364353/9240757295010836 A-Jay
  16. I saw that video last night - impressive to say the least. I really like it when an angler gets as much enjoyment & satisfaction in a successful release as he does with the record breaking catch itself. Congrats to Mr. Renolds. A-Jay
  17. Nice Boat Buying weather right there ~ A-Jay
  18. I know right - but it's too bad I had to divulge my secret weapon to catching Grande' Bass. A-Jay
  19. WHAT ? You're trading in the Predator ? Say it isn't So ! Kidding. Very Cool - Good Luck and btw - hang the MAX HP Rated Motor you can . . . . under powered vessels are dangerous. Just stoking the fire bud . . . Can't wait to hear about it - very exciting. A-Jay
