Help me pick a depth/fish finder for my canoe... please
I'd be looking hard at the newest Humminbird Helix 5 line coming out soon. Might have to spends a little more but these units offer quite a bit of bang for your buck. A-Jay

Good To Be Home! (18lb Limit)
Fair Enough. As one of the younger and routinely very successful posters here, your solid & well earned reputation is a great way for you to be a steward for good decisions. The PFD is definitely one of those. The Law is one thing, but I do honestly believe you understand what The Right thing is. This will be the last time I reference this in any of your threads. Please know I thoroughly enjoy your posts and hope to continue to do so. A-Jay

Gonna flip till I can't flip no mo!
I'm glad & Thanks. You know even though I am not exactly a huge D/S fan - I did try it and couldn't get bit - which is a little weird. Either way - Jerkbaits & Blade Baits fished low & slow has been the deal. A-Jay

Gonna flip till I can't flip no mo!
Can't give you exact dates & temps but between below 50 & above 40 covers it. I'm mostly on Smallies btw - And just to help get you in the right frame of mind, here's a few from the past month or so. A-Jay

I've no idea where you're at but up here in the north woods of Michigan, it's been all about Jerkbaits & blade baits for the last month. Good Luck A-Jay

When to use a spinnerbait trailer
Agreed. I fish a spinnerbait at night quite a bit. Before I started upgrading the swivels & split rings on my favorite night baits, smallies were routinely tearing the single Oklahoma blade off. It was a little weird at first too as there would be this solid rod-thumping strike and then no hook up, only to get a bait back that was essentially done for the night at least. Trailer hook was no help there. Paddle / boot tail type trailer seemed to give them a more attractive "Target" - don't lose any where near as many blades now. A-Jay

Surprise Otter Lake Slam
Nice ~ Multi-Species abundance. There's a few lakes here where I'm always trying to "Hit for the Cycle". For me it's LMB, SMB, A Waldo & a Pike. Seems a little easier to do real early & sometimes real late (like now) in the season. Came close last two times out but I was left at Third both trips as I could for the life of me get a darn pike. Figures though right ? The rest of the year the little choppers are all over everything but when I actually want one - Not happening. Congrats A-Jay

Fiberglass Cranking Sticks - What are your thoughts?
My personal favorite Crankbait rod is actually a 12 ft Fly rod used for Tarpon ~ It's also especially proficient for use as a drop shot rig when using a Banjo minnow tipped with a 20 inch Jelly worm. Good Luck. A-Jay
