Finicky Pond Bass
I've been hammering them this Spring... and for a while on these lures... #1 Fluke- Watermelon seed- if they don't bite this your in trouble #2 Senko- I fish these in the heavy weeds texas rigged weightless- one of the best bass lures ever... I use the Strike King Zero version... #3 Zara Spook- has always been deadly early and late on big bass as well as the Pop-R #4 You'll catch a ton of bass on the Powerworm texas rigged in Electric Blue or Blue fleck colors... You also have the issue of very clear water... may have to go to a spinning reel and lighter lines... that would be my recommendation... you'll get longer casts, but may have problems landing bigger fish... do some research and get a light line that the fish will have a hard time seeing but still is tough and hard to break... I don't have enough study yet on this to give you much more info. on lines.... I think you will have super luck on those flukes.... i rig them on a spinning rod with a small splitshot about a foot above my lure... in the slop you should fish them weightless however... I'm sure many more tips will come in to help you land some of those greenies.......

Brand Baitcasters
you can still get this reel and Ambasseduer 5500 c... man was it a good one... unfortunately a 13 lb. catfish while bass fishing stripped all the gears on it... it was great for spinnerbait, topwater, and worm fishing... not sure of the price tag for new but have seen them on ebay cheap....

Pond Management
sounds like they are drastically reducing the fish population... Personally, I never keep bass, unless it's going to help a small lake out by keeping some smaller ones..... I've seen large lakes down here in Texas nearly fished out by overharvesting......... :-/

Bank Fishing Tackle Box?
Let's see been bank fishing here in Texas all my life... and the tips I've seen so far are excellent... you will need a light tackle box first off and no more than 2 rods since you are walking..... Here are some top producers over the years.... Strike King Zero Watermelon color- texas and wacky rigged Powerworm- Electric Blue Tornado spinnerbait- white/chart.- half hitched Zara Spook- dynamite for early/late bite Rat-l-trap- Gene Larew crawdads Zoom fluke- white, watermelon, white ice and- dont forget for those small impoundments- bass pro roostertail copy, and panther martin's w/ a gold blade.... I have a few hard to find lures as well that catch a lot of bass... billy bass topwater, powerpack topwater, bagley small fry perch... If I could only have one lure- it would be hard to choose... many places are very weedy and thick especially towards the summer, so I'd pick a Senko/Zero texas rigged weightless with a Zoom Fluke second... don't forget your frogs- there are many to choose from.... I have an old Strike King topwater frog that has done well over the years.. hope this helps....

productive fluke colors
watermelon seed and pearl white(i put a few yellow grubs in with the white to make it more of a perch color) works good.... but by far watermelon is by top producing lure.......

Combo for Shore & Bank Fishing in Brushy Areas
I fish a lot of small ponds, lakes with heavy cover and brush... going to need a strong rod to get em' out of there... so I'd go with medium heavy 6'6" or even 7'- I've got an Allstar Rod and it's worked great.... I like the Low profile reels to reduce fatigue... Best I can tell you is go maybe to Bass Pro if there is one in your area and look at the reel, reel it a bit to check the smoothness and ask the clerk your price range and what he'd recommend- I believe you'll be a happy fisherman then.... I can tell you my buddy had a Team Daiwa reel- they are expensive but well worth it.. Maybe you could find one of those??? Also, you are going to need to use a heavier line in these situations so make sure the reel/Rod can handle a heavier line..........

Ya'lls go to baits?
Helicopter Luer No way.... Texas rig-Powerworm #1 and Watermelon Senko's bout all I fish... and zoom fluke....

Senko day
I'd rig one Texas Rigged Weightless with the baitcaster... maybe even with a small splitshot... get up in the thick moss and heavy cover... It's virtually weedless when rigged weightless... On color I really love the watermelon... don't know why it catches so many fish.... with the spinning rod, I'd rig it wacky style... sometimes a different look will get their atttention... I've caught big bass both ways.... I fish a lot of small lakes down here in Texas with super thick weedy cover- frogs work, but the Senko rigged weightless is the true money maker, and also works good at night.... Zoom flukes work great as well, but not as weedless as the Senko....
