My 3 biggest fish I've caught were on Jig n Pig, Billy Bass Lure, Gene Larew Craw Worm...... didn't weigh any of these fish, but the biggest measured out at 23 1/2" Have to talk about the 3 that got away..... they all broke my line and came on a Zara Spook, Baby Paca Craw, and a Buzz bait..... also lost a huge one on a Texas rigged Zero......

clear lake fishing... let's see- first of all I'd take advantage of using the boat.... and I'd try fishing right along the drop-offs...... the water is real clear so I'd get far enough from where you think the fish are- anchor out and make long casts so they won't get spooked.... A spinning rod and a Watermelon Fluke is tough to beat.... mebbe rig it with a small split shot a couple inches above the fluke to let it sink just a bit...... I'd also go finesse on them if nothing else is working... mebbe throw a panther martin or a roostertail at em' Dropshot fishing- has been working for me- although most of the bass are smaller I have been catching- I like to use a Zoom Finesse Worm. Spinnerbaits- mebbe try a Booyah chart. spinnerbait are make parallel casts on the dropoffs, and in any vegetation you may find..... Early and late- I'd try topwater- something like a Pop-r, Zara Spook, and Rage tail shad or buzzbait...... good luck and keep us posted............

you'll miss some fish on it........ I miss a lot that strike close to the boat..... mebbe try a Chart. white Booyah spinnerbait a few casts???? (you'll get a better hookset if they will strike it.........

There are some good articles listed for info. and I'd take his advice and look through them...... Some suggestions- I'd start out simple- maybe get a spinning rod with a medium to medium/heavy rod..... get a reel that can hold like at least 10 lb. test line..... I have a Pflueger President and its a solid reel... With lures- I'd start simple....... get a few crankbaits, spinnerbaits, roostertails- stuff that is easy to fish with like rat-l-traps......... Also, a few easy to fish topwater lures like the Pop-R would be very useful..... Add some soft plastic baits as well to your arsenal....... like the Zoom Fluke, Strike King Zero, and Berkley Powerworm(blue fleck) and you've got a good start......... I would check out Academy.... one guy said he had a Pelican Predator which they carry there which is a great small boat.... It is fairly cheap- has 2 livewells- has 2 seats.... and seems to have enough room for 2 people and is relatively lightweight....... I've fished from the Alumnacraft jon boats they sell there... if you wanted one of those I'd get the 12 ft. version- and it wouldn't be hard to put seats in this boat....... I'm still fond of the Billy Bass topwater lure- I still have 2 left from the 80's... I caught my PB on a chrome color... Hard to beat a Zara spook... be sure and use split rings to get the hooks down lower to increase your catch rate..... I bought a few powerpack topwater lures in shad and in the frog and suprisingly as weird as the lure is... it really brings out the curiosity in a bass- I've really had great luck with this lure.... A tornado spinnerbait- when it is half-hitched it becomes a deadly buzzbait..... what a lure!!!!!!!! a spinnerbait-buzzbait- and jig all in one...

no doubt check on ebay... you should be able to get a REVO STX for around $150 new..... My second choice is most definitely the Shimano MG 50............. you also couldn't go wrong with Team daiwa

I've fishing hard with my President which i bought off ebay as a demo model... I only gave $30.00 and now am going on my 3rd year with it... I couldn't ask for more in a reel- I believe those off brand reels are only good if you are going saltwater fishing and scared to use your good reel.........

About 2 weeks ago, the fish were really biting at a small lake.... I hung a bass and he swam in a tree and I had to break the line... I didn't know the weight of the fish- but just popped off he was a 10 pounder!!!!!!! A few casts later I hung that same fish and pulled my shiny red hook out of his mouth that had been broken off... he didn't even weigh a pound.... Then, down by the dam, my backlash so was bad I had to cut the line... the fish were really biting so I pulled the line in by hand quickly to get my spinnnerbait back... the weirdest feeling in the world happened as a 4 lb. bass struck that spinnerbait!!!!!!!! My friend said what in the world are u doing??? About that time that nice bass jumped sky high out of the water, and I pulled him in by hand!!!!!!!!!! all this happened the same day- go figure......... ;D

Hi- about to buy a fish finder for small 12 ft. jonboat... fish a lot of small lakes... Also wondering what you guys thought of the Piranah Max 220 fish finder?? Anyways, any help would be appreciated.......

Some baits that have really been working for me lately are the Baby Paca Craws.... strike king red eye shad.....baby brush hog.......zoom fluke(watermelon seed).... and the best bait lately has been the Booyah 3/8 oz. chart. white spinnerbaits.........

Well I see you've had some great support here.... I hope you get a trolling motor and get back started soon..... it looks as if your well on your way...... I live down in Texas and you might look into this..... every year around March is the annual Sand bass run...... they are easy to catch!!!!!!! you might look into some local areas where you might fish for them!!!!!!! they are a blast to catch!!!!!! Private waters/tanks/ponds- great places to fish and it seems the fishes IQ lowers a lot in these areas!!!!! Inshore saltwater fishing- all you need is some live shrimp and a popping cork and the fight is on!!!!!!! might check into this for a summer trip......... South Carolina/Florida/Louisiana/Virginia....... Don't know if you have the funds to take a trip like this, but I thought I would throw it out there........ I read your story and it hurt to read the pain you went through..... I am sure the other members can agree with this...... Your perserverance is unbelievable..... gotta keep on keeping on... I, to have had my share of problems over the last few years, but after reading this they seem do-able..... It's sad when bad things happen to good people- I hope now you have turned the corner and are in store for many bright and sunny days on the water and in life....... God bless.......

thanks for the info..... i will definitely check that out.... if you even get down to fish at POC ask your dad about the Army Hole... I've caught some huge Redfish there and I heard the trout fishing is great there 2.......

I hate the bait monkey!!!!!!! I have a perfectly good Calcutta reel I was going to trade and get a Revo!!!!!! now the bait monkey says I have to keep the Calcutta in case I go saltwater fishing, and I have to have a Revo as well....... darn him- I just can't disappoint de monkey........

My fishing buddy turned me on to this lure.... it's a Bass Pro shops copy of the Roostertail.... It's only .99 and try the one with the yellow feathers and silver blade in 1/8 oz. I've caught more on this lure than any other.......

I've heard a lot of good reviews on Silver Dollar City... my wife's been there are loved it...... I did go see the Jim Stafford show and highly recommend it for family entertainment........ One thing I wanted to do when I was there was go on the dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake.... my wife didn't want too so I was outta luck on that deal...... I'm sure you'll have a great time....... I sure did when I was there.......

I've got 2 Jack Russel's- 1 is a short coat and one a rough coat.... They are tremendous dogs... very smart and love to play.... But like everyone has said they need attention.... if they don't get it usually they find something to tear up..... They have very interesting personalities to say the least........

Got a fishing buddy going with me to Galveston or Port O Connor...... waiting for the winds to die down before we go........ At POC they used to have a ferry to take you to Matagorda Island State Park.... Like to take him there but don't know how we could get there.... since we are wade fisherman.... One Sunday morning a Preacher awoke to a beautiful day.... He liked to fly fish down at the stream for Rainbows and just couldn't resist the temptation!!!!! Called the Assoc. pastor said Brother feeling a little under the weather... Don't worry Preacher, I can fill in just fine..... So he headed off to the stream, fly rod in hand... With his best hand tied fly.... At that same time an Angel was talking to God.... Did you see what he's doing?? He's skipping out today on the whole congregation... What do you want me to do??? Shut the fishes mouth??? No, said God... You want me to put a hole in his net??? No About that time the Preacher made a fine cast and right on the edge of the current he had a huge strike!!!!!!! Line ripped off as he fought the monster trout downstream!!!!!!! Finally about wore out he landed the fish.. went back to get ready for the Sunday night service grinning ear to ear........ Members of the congregation asked how it was going?????? Oh man did I catch...... what preacher????? what did you say??????? Man did I catch the biggest.... uhhhhhh.... cold......... achooo.... I feeling better though....... yall take your seats......... Now the poor preacher was blush red as he knew now he could never tell how he hooked and landed the largest trout in the stream!!!!!!!!! :D

try a weightless texas rigged zoom fluke in watermelon.... that one nails em' most of the time.... I guess they think it is a perch... who knows?????????
