I have four rods that aren't cheap.($50/$99) the rods are marked med action. The rod from the handle up about 65% feels a med action backbone. The upper section is weak. I'd be afraid to trust a big bass on it. Each rod tip is weak. The heavier action rod is stiffer in the upper section. Now I purchased another brand ($79) another med rod has chee (Even flow to the tip) the tip feels stronger. There's no standards for actions vs taper. The rod blank lacks flow to the tip.

My guess would be around 3.5lbs.

Nothing is safe if it moves and fits in there mouth. This is why I chuckled when they predicted the snake heads would take over our fish population. I feel the bass can hold there own as predators along with the great northern pike and muskies. Don't forget the feisty chain pickerel too. When a bait, any bait moves it's eaten. Mann's once offered plastic dragun flies. I took the 3" purple shad colored one and split shot rigged dropped it in the weed open pockets then brought it up like it just hatched the bass loved it. Mann's discontinued it.

We're I worked we had a pond that never froze in the wintertime. Tons of turtles never fished it too scared too.

We would go bear hunting which overlaps bow deer season. We're deep in the forest at a abandoned Apple orchard. I come across ground scrapes and cover them up. Mess'in with bucks. The next day the scrapes are back again. Just having fun with nature.

That's ok my question was already answered. For over two decades I been trying to figure out the feeding frenzy I see happen in freshwater and saltwater. If you constantly stay going you will see this feeding frenzy happen sooner or later. With the spawning happening possibly more than once. Could this feeding frenzy be happening when the fish come off the beds or before they go to the beds. It's a bass catching phenomenon that happens every so often. I swear they would bite a bare hook it's so intense. To me a weather front coming in or during the light warm rain or between rain showers(a lull) it's when this phenomenon happens. Maybe Mr Lusk or Bill Dance could answer this. I actually stopped doing a logbook when I seen this feeding frenzy happen. It threw my records out the window. I need three people to record this phenomenon. I caught bass on every cast ranging from 1 1/2-6lbers. Back to back non stop. This was the second time on a rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH crankbaits. The first time wads the swamp with the mepps Anglia #3 spinner. Me and the son had doubles for a long time. The third time was 19 bass standing in one spot on the shoreline using a joesfly 1/4oz bass size in firetiger apache. Every time, every cast was fish on. Something turns on these fish with a weather front. I wonder if the full moon and spawn ties into this too. My brothers father in law has a boat in saltwater. He told me the flounder were biting so good it was unbelievable. He caught fish after fish. Could this phenomenon happen in saltwater too?

I use locking ball bearing snap swivels. I use a AA or AAA battery flashlight. I put my tackle box lid to block the light from the water. I don't want to see what's making noise on land near me.lol

I have a LEWS med/lt action rod that would love to hang one of those on it. But I like trout on UL rods with 4lb test stream fishing. When we used salmon and cheese eggs we couldn't feel the nibble on the heavier rods.
