There not state of the art high tech reels but there designed in the USA. They were manufactured here. SOme models are assembled here. But there made over seas now. To me there unique. I have shakespear baitcasters I still use often. New old reels. My first bass caught with a jig n pig was caught on this setup. My better baitcasters are quantum code red. I know I'm still in the dark ages.

When I gotta go, I gots to go fishing. I'm worse than a beagles chasing a rabbit. I fish from shore with 5 tackle boxes and 5 rod setups. But sometimes it's like moving or packing the car for vacation. Now I have a quick fish tackle box. Just a few of everything. I grab my topwater and crankbaits setup and I'm gone. A fast short evening trip. On the motorcycle I had a few lures with a telescopic rod under the seat. Cruising the back country roads looking for new places to wet a line.

I ordered 9' minnowbaits(hard), assorted affordable inline spinners for river fishing, assorted wordens inline spinners, more plastics, Mann's Indiana classic spinnerbaits. Another order at mister twister. They have some great buys right now. You can get more for a $ if you shop smart. I want to still hunt the new state record for LMB, but also want to catch great northern pike and big chain pickerel.

I just received four brand new US Reel super caster baitcasters from a fellow member. I figure to add a few of the U.S. REEL models to my museum collection. Some will get used too. Since the U.S. REEL company has been for sale who knows if we will see them again. .

I never caught bigger bass over 3lbs. On live bait.(minnows) I hook the minnows in the lower lip so they twitch. I haven't used live bait in decades.

Yup a 40 is good too. I feel really tired after making hundreds of casts with spinnerbaits.

Put a new tip on it like it is. The last rod tip I cut off was sticking out my side window. I had my new $300 fly rod I got on clearance for $125 with reel, line, leader ready to go. Kittery Trading Post hooked me up. I had the new fly rod setup out for its first try. I murdered the panfish. I loaded it in the car in the dark. When I heard the crunch I knew what it was. I put a new tip on it and a tiny spinning reel for crappies.

Stay on top of your health. In the past I skipped doctor appointments. Even the one to the doctor for prostate cancer. My regular doctor screamed at me I had to go asap. He didn't say cancer. It didn't matter either way at the time. But there was a halftime show in my life prostate cancer was performing. It lost now it's the 3rd quarter of my life. After a few days of wearing the support belt for the hernia I can stand and walk again. The pulling pain is gone. Im exercising soon. There was a 17yo boy going for radiation for prostate cancer. It knows no age, race or color.

There seems to be a rash of spider bites locally at the ER. Be careful look everything over closely. These bites cause infections. Go to you tube and search spider bites. It's nasty. If you have a weak stomach don't look at the bites. There open wounds. Be safe, god bless.

I put used plastics with hooks still in them in a separate bag. Each used plastic has its own bag. Now I use scents I never seen a used hook rust yet. But I'm not sure how much salt is left in the plastics. Plus putting used plastics that are wet can contaminate and activate the salts in the new plastics. The water contains contaminants too. Wash your hands more often. Wipe down your rod handles and reels too.

I had really no one to teach me about these lures once my mentor passed on. I wasn't heavy into bass fishing back then. I try to explain things clearer or better so the new guy or gal can start using lures with success. Not everyone understands. I was like most of them I carried a few lures for decades and didn't know how to use them. Glenn with his early bass resource site taught me a lot. I just want to thank everyone for putting up with me. I like to see everyone catch bass and enjoy this sport to the fullest. I'm no pro or will never be one. I just enjoy bass fishing. God bless. Big bass eat smaller bass. The breeders are larger. Up size your bait or fish with smaller sunfish. Your not throwing the baits the bigger bass are eating. Try fishing at 5am? Be very stealthy, quiet.

I'm going to say a jig n pig there is no off season it works all year. Colors may vary from molting, to mating to your average area color.

Are you trying to burn spinnerbaits with this reel? Tom is spot on. A 20/25/30 size reel with the same gear ratio with the larger spool would be better. My spinnerbait setup is a OKUMA 30 epixor spinning reel. I tried the 6.3:1 gear ratio and it wore me out the 5.2:1 in a spinning reel is much better. If cranking spinnerbaits with a spinning reel is hard try a reel with less bearings too. Just keep it lubed.

I have put non salted plastics one per bag soaked with scent. But a scent injector into the plastics makes more sense for a slower release of the scent. Tips, Remember not to keep your salted plastic baits with your topwater, crankbaits etc. Hook rust in your tackle box. Keep your tackle boxed closed in the rain. When you return home open your tackle box to dry out. Prevent hook rust.

Here's my true story. We always fished for trout in the springtime. But just a few times per year for bass. My son broke his leg on a motocross track in the woods. Everyone stepped up and took him fishing. I was spending up to $50++ a week on live bait fishing just about everyday with the kids. One night we were fishing the swamp just before the front hit the rain was two hours away. I just purchased a mepps #3 Anglia bass kit. We were using night crawlers and culprit 10" worms two setups. As I reeled in the night crawler I had a strike. They(the bass) told me they want something moving. I put on a mepps #3 Anglia silver blade gray dressed and caught two bass right away. I tossed the mepps red/silver babe Brown dressed #3 Anglia to my son. We caught doubles for about 45 minutes till it got dark. Now I'm throwing lures more and a live bait setup. Once I learned the presentations my lure setup started out fishing the live bait setup, night crawlers and live minnows. I stopped using live bait and used the extra money I saved to buy lures. Focus on your presentations, and how many different presentations you can do with one lure. The skill and education comes in when figuring out which pattern will produce success.(what style lure) one pattern may catch a few bass while another pattern may load the boat. Trust me lures will out fish live bait once we understand what pattern works matched up to the correct presentation. A shot of bass scent/attractant helps too. I throw about 12 different lures in my ritual of baits. It's a challenge to me to get the pattern. Trying different colors and sizes works too. In fishing it's all skill. I carried a few lures all my life in my tackle box. I didn't know how to use them for 30 years. Bass fishing to me is way more fun than trout fishing. I like all types of fishing. Get a rapala original floating minnow F7 in blue. Go out and try all the different presentations with it. First try a slow reel. I think the biggest problem we bass fisherman have is we tend to fish too fast. Don't rush, relax, fish slow. Read all the articles on this site, watch every fishing video here. Do it over and over all winter and spare time you have. Hone your skills. Now hit the water to advance your skills. Nothing teaches us better than time spent on the water fishing. You will soon figure out that lure size and color does matter.

Three of my better spots are fed from a healthy lake. Good clean running water does matter. The eco systems are healthy. Of course I been told the stocked the lake above where I fish with trout and salmon. That night heavy rains came and washed some of them down stream into my place. There locked in my place and just grow. There's a really good balance there. It's loaded with bass, trout, salmon, pickerel. I guess the predators feed on each other's fry. Be thankful you have a spot like mine to hone our skills. Remember what we learn there works everywhere else we fish. It's a great place to test new lures and presentations. It's skill that catches fish.

I just glued up the holes in my new lunker frogs. I guess every other brand will need gluing too. Just incase the glue has a oder to it I have the frog scent from bogbaits.com

The water temps change slowly below the surface but cooler temps should trigger feeding because they know winter is coming.

I now wonder what was the pre-steel fishing rods like? Bamboo? Fly rods? Baitcasters? I'm not sure when or who invented the first fishing rod? 7' or 8'+ straight bamboo rods? No reel yet? Fishing equipment evolution? Like; Fishing rods Fishing reels Fishing hooks Fishing bombers cork and wood Fishing line. Metal tackle boxes Wooden lures. Early plastic lures There's no history of fishing tackle. I have no old timers in my family left to ask?

The first telescopic steel rods where manufactured by a Quaker I believe I read about it. They didn't believe in fishing. So this machinest made his fishing rods telescopic so he could sneak out and go fishing. I know the steel fishing rods aren't worth much but i find them interesting. I think in time everything becomes collectable. I still have my first 1973 D.A.M. QUICK 110 spinning reel on its original Garcia five star UL spinning rod. I'm at a antique shop a couple years ago and see my quick reel for $70. My first buy of better fishing equipment is antique now. Take care of your equipment it might be antique someday. I have a very old Fenwick UL ROD too. So old the eyes string rotted off. It needs to be retied someday.

Well after having prostate cancer the PSA is "0" yup zero I been told. My spinal stenosis isn't treatable(no operation), my golf ball sized kidney stone is inoperable, (bad risk), the steroid injections in my L3, L4 & L5 discs are working out. But I have this weird pulling muscle tention that's so bad I can hardly walk. I have the belt/support for my hiatal hernia but I haven't been wearing it. Stupid me. I put the belt on the pulling muscle pain is totally gone . I can go fishing now. I can walk again. My point is, Get your prostate checked it's a blood test. Get your kidneys checked for stones. Any back problems get it checked. Wear your supports when required. When your young take care of yourself at any age. I found out there's no big "S" on my blue tee shirt(SUPERMAN). I thought I was. See a doctor for a checkup at least once a year. Take care of yourself. Most of this stuff is a silent killer. That's aches and pains isn't from old age sometimes. That cancer took 60lbs off of me. I was 390lbs of tough guy. Thank god I had the weight to lose. Now lookout world I have a new lease on life. Look out bass I'm back. I'm not perfect but I can cast a line. Please take care of your health. Your family needs you.
