  1. My buddy uses a 2" yellow curly tail grub on a light jighead. He just drops it down in the weeds. I like to use the weedless mepps timber doodle silver blade with the mister twister 4" split double tail grub. I use the mister twister 4" split double tail grubs in different colors as trailers. They look real when moving. They look alive and like there really swimming. On spinnerbaits, top props there awesome. I haven't tried them on Buzzbait and chatterbaits yet.
  2. I throw everything till I get action in the springtime. From crankbaits, inline spinners, spinnerbaits, minnowbaits, etc. As the temps warm up I add the c-rig with plastics. The rule of thumb they say is, Springtime cranks, inlines, spinnerbaits, poppers etc. Summertime plastics, c-rig, split shot rig, poppers etc. Fall back to cranks, inlines, spinnerbaits poppers etc. Jig n pig all year. Plastic worm all year Poppers/topwater all year That's old school Hard swimbaits Soft swimbaits With all this new stuff I try anything too. The game hasn't changed only new baits, rigs and presentation's were added.
  3. Barbie fishing rod setup? With fishing lures what I buy, I buy extra for my son's, there spouses and grandchildren. Fishing reels / rods too. Almost fourty years ago as my son's were born I purchased them hunting rifles and shotguns. They weren't one month old.
  4. Three of my spots have produced 29" to 32" chain pickerel. You can't get two hands around them because there so fat. I'm mainly after bass but the fight of these pickerel are fun too. I caught one smaller feisty pickerel that tried to bite me three times while I tried to remove my CRANKBAIT he inhaled. He was mad and slamming his mouth shut hard. Pike, pickerel are too boney. I met a guy who removes all the meat and makes fish cakes

I lost $30 worth of new lures in 15 minutes. I was in a rush to fish. My casting was way off. Everything was hanging in the trees. This was twenty years ago. We bought a lot for $30. Funny I been good ever since but I did tripple loop my knot. Some days it happens.
  6. Scents they hang on longer for a hookset. Did you ever fish for trout from a boat using Velveeta cheese? It's the fastest strike I ever seen. In a mili second the cheese and fish are gone. My point with using plastics set the hook on the slightest nibble. When you do it right and your quick enough the fish will be lip hooked. Got to be quick on the draw brother.
  7. I have a lot of poppers in different styles and colors affordable ones. I figured I'd expand my selection with a few more expensive poppers.. I think I have some high roller stuff too.
  8. The rebel pop r in blue still produces. I picked up some high roller poppers they work too.
  9. Fishing from shore when the waters levels are low take advantage of the situation to checkout the bottom structure while it's exposed. One of my spots has a 4'x4' square cement block sitting in the open water. Great snag spot to avoid.
  10. Should of expected it he was close to hit. They call that getting slap happy on the fishes part.
  11. Ugly as sin for sure. Do we have them in ct?
  12. The large spinnerbait box. I have about 100 different spinnerbaits in mine. These were Plano large green boxes. They hold Buzzbait and larger pike size spinnerbaits too.
  13. Tackle storage is a problem fishing from shore. I want to take every lure in different colors, sizes, depths. The arsenal comes with me hard baits, soft baits, spinning baits everything. I need a decent tackle storage setup. Maybe a bench type seat on wheels with tackle storage under the seat. Then I can sit down and fish. I can't carry five tackle boxes anymore. I guess I carry way to much stuff.
  14. That's a nice looking box what are the dimensions on the squares?? I'm thinking one for topwater, one for shallow cranks, one for 4'/6' cranks, one for deep 10' cranks.+ more and a soft sided tackle bag to carry it.
  15. I use the 3700 storage trays in my Denny Brauer Magnum tackle soft boat bag. I also use a 3700 storage for my fish on the fly plastics. Grab a rod setup, box n go.
  16. The hummingbird portable cast out fish finder works great from a kayak or small boat. We just put it on a rod setup and let it float near the boat trolling very very slow.
  17. I entered. If I win I want the second reel to go to the second place winner. If that's ok. From being a ex auto mechanic I'm amberdexterious from working under dashboards. Right left doesn't matter I can adapt.
  18. Sorry it's the nano chemtrails that's affecting the fish
  19. I laugh when I first heard there going to take over our waters. First if they get by our bass, gators the chain pickerel, northern pike and muskies will have a field day. Some may survive to be caught I heard there good eating. If I catch any they won't be swimming anymore. Fresh fish for my abandoned adopted cats they love fresh baked snakehead fish. It's all about the food chain. If I ever catch them. Use the larger heavier pike/muskie spinnerbaits. From over stocked bait & tackle.
  20. I'm buying northern pike lures and my little tackle bag is over flowing. I have all 12"/10"/9"/8" lures does anyone make a tackle box for these baits? Everywhere I fish has large chain pickerel and northern pike.
  21. I mainly use weedless eagle claw hooks when I can. My wacky rigged senkos, worms, my brushogs. Weeds and Snaggs are no problem.
  22. I bought an assortment of them and caught nothing. More Christmas ornaments just cut the hooks off. There were some $20+ crankbaits that caught nothing too I can't remember the name they were suppose to be the hottest thing with there paint jobs. More ornaments for the tree. My affordable bomber crankbaits still rule.
  23. I don't think the extra weight up front matters when I pause it after my famous one, two, three, twitch then pause. (Famous lol)
