Finally Going To Try Senkos
Love them or hate them. I'm not sure. My very first time using senkos was a success. And more success where ever I try them. I use a 1/4oz brass bullet weight with a ticker on a 24" leader c rig. Presentation is the key. I have a 9' droppoff in front of me. It's a channel with a deadline edge to my right. I can cast the c rig senkos and let it fall keeping the line snug watching the rod tip for the slightest nibble. Or twitch it as it falls letting the ticker do it's thing. At the same time the senkos that's wacky rigged waves itself. I only use scent on used senkos after a hit n miss. If I'm seeing success with senkos then everyone should if your on the fish. If not you need to find where the bass are.

New To Crankbait Fishing...need Help Please!
I mainly use shallow cranks and reel them just slow enough for a nice side to side wiggle. Don't reel too fast.

Why You Should Check Your Local Sporting Goods Store Often!
My dicks sporting goods had a discount table one year with the larger round CRANKBAIT reels and OKUMA spinning reels and fin-nor rods. One year sports authority had discounted rapala shad raps. Watch Wal-Mart and dicks. Remember sales, clearances, bargains are only good if we use this stuff.

Triple Trout Problems
I throw a 9" castaic trout lure. If I reel it fast it gets squirrelly. If I slow it down its just a tad below the surface making a perfect wake swimming natural looking real.

Split Rings On Topwater?
The added split ring and ball bearing locking snap swivel acts as a hinge. It's a much smoother action.

Split Rings On Topwater?
I add split rings to poppers. I can't get the ball bearing locking snap swivel on the eye on the popper without a split ring.

Do You Remember Your First Spincast Reel?
Zebco 202 on a 6' stiff saltwater rod. Using a 1 oz lead sinker and a sand worm I could cast all the line in the reel. I fished freshwater too with it.

Lake Drops 3Ft
One place is very low my son's caught panfishing only. From shore the bass are deeper in the middle. One reservoir is 9' lower than normal. I think we're in a drought. Some towns have restrictions on using water.

Fishing With Live Bait
Once u learn the presentations you will out fish live bait.My buddy was using live minnows dropping them in the weed pockets. I was dropping the mepps timber doodle in the weed pockets I surpass his numbers. The size 0 silver blade with the 4" split double tail grub timber doodle weedless bait works awesome. Once we master every bait with its different presentations trust me the catch numbers will go way up. The bass like baits moving. I was fishing two rod setups, one live bait and one lures. As I became better at picking the correct pattern with the right presentation I out fished the live bait setup.

Inexpensive Prop Baits
There are larger spooks that have props single and double. Check "over stocked bait & tackle" (sale) I'm not sure but they may have them. Check ebay for used lures.

Does Anyone Else Care About Aesthetics Of A Combo?
Rod color vs reel color vs line color vs bait color do I have that correct? Now factor in the color of the fish lol The women fisherman have nothing to do with this. It's a guy thing. I need to look for my Godzilla baitcaster need to post pics.

Does Anyone Else Care About Aesthetics Of A Combo?
My $14 Shakespeare green baitcaster reel matched my green Godzilla rod. Really. Does it matter to me now I could careless. As long as the setup balances and functions I'm good. God only knows what I fished with as a kid.

Bait Monkey Is On My Back
The bigger Rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH CRANKBAIT that dives to ten feet caught my PB10# casting it parallel to the shoreline that's a drop off two feet from shore. As I ripped it through the weeds into the open channel she hit it. The rebel crawfish crankbaits are hot. I use the chartruese in the springtime into the summer. The bright red one has also caught bass. I just never took the time to try all the colors. My ponds/small lakes the natural crawls are black backs with red sides. The river craws look like the stream color rebels. The dead empty bodies are a beige color. I fish the Housatonic river up in falls village and in one area the shoreline is covered in dead eaten craw bodies. I have no clue what can eat that many. This is a wild area. Lots of timber, and forest land. Ok back to the op my next hot bait is the topnocker by bps. Just twitch it, 1-2-3 then pause. Walk it near the pads. I'm looking for a replacement bait for it since its discontinued. To me tossing a small 1/8, 1/4oz inline spinner with the smaller bass can be a fun trip too. The rivers are full of bass up to 3lbs here. Don't exclude river fishing. Make a note; behind every rock sticking up out of the water the pool or backwash behind it usually has fish in it waiting to score food. Sometimes I cast on the rock and let the spinner drop in the pool. Sometimes catching many dinks can be fun with a few larger ones inbetween. But in the shallow running rapids the bass seem to average 3lbs being the biggest.

Bait Monkey Bit Me
But I believe from an engineering stand point the U.S. REEL super caster baitcasters are or were way ahead of there time. There is no one hole line leveler. They used a rotating wave bar. There's less friction with the line when casting. The pro 1000 and 1000 models have a height adjustment on the wave bar. Very smart unique idea. You can raise and lower the wave bar to the amount of line that's on the spool. I think they were way ahead design wise. I'm very surprised no other reel manufacturer copied this design today. If the single hole line leveler guide is off to one side there's more friction on the line. This can't happen with the wave bar line leveler there's no hole fishing r the line to go through. There not junk there really innovation. Far ahead of there time. I could see making a few changes to bring them up to date. I think they could run with the big dogs. I think the one hole line lever is a very antique design every time I look at my other reels. Why does every other manufacturer follow the norm. We need some new advanced technology. The only thing I see on some baitcasters is the hole in the line leveler is a vertical slot now.

Yes I agree with you. I will buy a better baitcaster if I could find one with the advanced wave bar line leveler system..
