  1. We have an old bass hatchery here. It's been shut down for many years. So bass aren't native here. Ok now we had a recent complex of buildings build here about ten years ago. My wife went to the gym there about eight years ago. There was a water drainage pond there. She seen movement in the water. The next trip she fed them bread. She told me and I fished there. Plenty of dinks. We fished there a few times every year and seen the bass and sunfish grow. The last trip I was there the bass were 3lbers. There was always ducks there. I believe the fish eggs are transported by ducks on there legs or they eat fish eggs. The place had no fish in the beginning.
  2. We can fish with any rod and reel but we need quality line with a good knot. We have lost the respect and love for our fellow man after all we are all brothers in some way. God bless. We all have a bad day.
  3. I fished with a bamboo rod with no reel then with a $5 Zebco reel with no bearings was better at 11yo. We would wear those Zebco reels out every year fishing when we were kids. We were poor. I raked leaves, cut grass to get my fishing stuff. We didn't make much money. My very first good spinning reel was a D.A.M. QUICK when I was 22 years old with my first income tax return. Those memories with the Zebco reels I will never forget. I'm 64yo now. My PB 10# was caught on a black beauty rod and a Wal-Mart quantum spinning reel. The bass didn't care. My point is we can't put a price on fun. Buy what you can afford and get out there fishing that's what counts. I had holes in my shoes but I had that new Zebco reel. I just gave my 5yo grandson his first Zebco reel and casting rod. The Zebco legend lives on.
  4. I caught many bass in the evenings at dusk. Up to 1 1/2lb to 6lbers max. The numbers was there with the smaller ones between 1 1/2 to 3lbers but it was limited. I started fishing in the dark till dawn when the place was quiet and the bigger bass were feeding at the shoreline. As twilight became daylite I casted farther out because they move to deeper cover. I switched from topwater/cranks to a c rig/plastics. By 8/9am the spot is dead. (Shore fishing) unless I hit the thick weed pockets.(thicker cover)
  5. There are some good quality affordable quality reels out there. While the Japanese brands have taken over our market wait till China really starts up. I purchased a few of there spinning reels lately and they don't look too bad. The fit and finish looks great and it functions on the bench. I hope to test them on the water soon. The Chinese are good at cloning things. I've seen them even make better quality stuff too. Remember how we felt about the products from Japan at one-time? My Chinese baitcaster is up to $28/$35 now. I'd put it up to any $100 reel. I just purchased a Chinese brand spinning rod. It actually feels good action wise. The feel of the taper/action feels good from the handle up to the tip. It feels more even with the flow. Could there actually be fishing rod chee? We could see a lot of changes in the manufacturing soon. Most of our better quality stuff is labeled from China anyway. Why be bias? I still use my OKUMA exiptor and fin nor ahab lite spinning reels but I like to try other brands too. I have a new line up of LEWS SPEED sticks with US REEL SUPER CASTERS. Spinning and baitcasters to try too. Always keep an open mind. I prefer good long lasting quality products without breaking my piggy bank. Tell me really who uses these $400++ rods and $750++ reels? I gots to know. Give Patel some credit he may have an affordable good reel. My Wal-Mart quantum spinning reels weren't bad in the beginning I still have them. They all get a turn in the pool still.
  6. Look at you tube. Baby duck lures.
  7. Mepps inlines, Anglia #3, #4, #5 silver blade, gray dressed. Anglia #3, #4, #5 gold blade, Brown dressed. Mann's classic spinnerbaits, White it's a blue glimmer skirt, twin gold Colorado blades. Trailer & trailer hook. Chartruese skirt, twin Colorado gold blades, trailer & trailer hook. Crankbaits, larger sized baits catch larger Pike. Smaller sized baits catch bass. When the bite is on with the smaller fish and it slows down upside your baits. The larger ones come in to see what the smaller fish are feeding on but won't hit the smaller baits.
  8. Change baits and colors. I believe there still there just not biting.
  9. I'm just browsing for next year's upgrade. I noticed most spinning rods are now med/lite, med/hvy with a few med. There are no hey action spinning rods. I don't get it? Since I'm slowing down on my booklet timing and speed maybe a baby action 6' rod may help. I looked at all the quantum up to $245 nothing in hvy action. What's this fast or slow stuff mean. Taper which is better. Why do the heavier action rods have no strength in the upper 25%? I been fishing with 1970 era rods. I just purchased lews speed sticks. But nothing really hd. Maybe I'm an old outdated fisherman. Or should I look for a specific topwater rod.
  10. What color jig? What color tube?
  11. In a boat for me its trying to eat a sandwich i get a strike everytime. I try to eat a p&j quickly.
  12. I'm thinking about making baby duck crankbaits. Does anyone use these? I need to figure out the orange yellow feet/legs? I'm thinking a Buzzbait prop in the front.
  13. I did this with a brand new quantum code red baitcaster. Parts were missing. They had a complete kit of the assembly. I would think most manufacturers do this. Someone took the parts from it. But I fixed it.
  14. Rocky points cast it down to the deeper Rocky area and hop it back up keeping the line snug at all times little hops. Siebert Outdoors football jig green pumpkin 3/8oz.
  15. Duck lures Duck hunting decoys for really BIG bass.????? Lmao. Baby ducks I'm looking for that one freight train with a bucket mouth.
  16. Weedless? Mepps Timber Doodle silver blade, white grub 4" it's a thick steel spoon that flutters down with the 4" split double tail grub dancing as it wobbles down. I have no clue as to what the bass think it is but it works. I would use the "1" size. Cast it out and let it fall
  17. Terry Clark did mine. TClark custom lures I'm not sure if he still does it his work is unbelievable. More pics to follow
  18. This is the best time of the year to fish.
  19. Copolymer line. I like Excalibur silver thread copolymer line. Light jigs and worms,,,,,,,? 8lb / 10lb test?
  20. When the water is low and we are in a low spot the water can rise very quickly over the top of the waders. It's harder to move when the waders are full of water. Plus factor in the current. Please be safe. Pay attention to this.
  21. The does I fed as fawns return with there year-long fawns and one and two year olds to feed only during hard times. When the snow is gone there gone. The buck is 275/300lbs. He's spreading his genes. I invested in my food plot too.
  22. Please be careful of rivers when using waders we have one that has a dam upstream. They open this dam when ever. You have to watch for rising water levels. Many fly fisherman have drowned here. Just know your river. God bless.
  23. Tom thanks for all the history. U know it. BB
