which Shimano Cardiff
Well it's nice to know I can help . Originally I was looking for smaller swim baits to throw with my current set-ups, but after reading several posts, I found out a swim bait rod would'nt be all that bad. Im not going over the edge, rather trying to stick to a lighter buget. So Okuma's swimbait rod and the Cardiff fit the bill. Go for it islandbass, I did.

well I just picked up 2 NIB Cardiff's for a great deal from a fellow member, couldnt refuse, I really liked my round Garcias so I think I'll like these as well. After a couple craigs lists sales n a few more off ebay I'll be grabbing a new swim bait rod. Thanks for the input here guys.

Anyone else have lower back pain?
A response of mine in an earlier post stated that I too suffer from a lower back injury. At 45 yrs old (this year) it can really suck. You may find humor in my question but: Have you by any chance put on a couple extra pounds over the winter months due to lack of activity? I find this can really kik my azz with lower back pain. I actually need to be very carful that I maintain a certin weight, I've added a few lbs over the past month or so and I can start to feel it, need to start my slimming down real soon or I too will be in the same situation.

i got a boat!!(TM Question)
Im very familiar with that smaller 12v batt, i used it for a starter box when I raced RC Nitro off road buggies and truggys, that batt would barely make a day at the races, I'm sure it has plenty of power for a FF but I couldnt imagine it powering a TM for very long at all, but of course I may be wrong...Have you ever had to use it? Im seriously looking into a LiPo conversion for TM's and boating electronics, Lipo's will out power and outlast any conventional battery, mark my words, a brushless TM and LiPo battery will be available for the TM's soon enough.

i got a boat!!(TM Question)
I run my 55lb ona Sears DieHard Marine battery with no trouble, I fish out of a 10ft Jon, and I've been out all day. You can power your FF off the same battery. What I do like about the Fishing Buddy from Hummingbird is that it has its own power supply, no need for extra wiring.

Reds, thanx for the response, I'd love to jump on the CTE or the Curado 300, but Im tryn to stick to a buget, when I bought my Curados & G-Loomis's over the summer I sold off a ton RC equipment, bought my boat, motor, battery, seats and a ton of gear, I also did a little bartering with my LTS so I got lucky. Swimbaits are a style I'd like to try yet not go broke doing so....thanks for the referals I wish I could spend alot more....but my 7yr old is waiting on Santa.

thnx Branuss04, I actually have 3 200's and really like them, I use to only throw Garcia rounds, and did hav 1 Lews. I liked the rounds alot but wanted to try something new so went w/ Curados. It appears alot of guys run the rounds for swimbaits I wasny sure the LP Curados would be up to the task.

In my swimbait post I was hoping to throw smaller baits like Mattlures baby bass, but I dont think I have a rod that'll handle them so I considered an SB rod, I dont think I'll get to crazy on the big big stuf but I want to make sure I have enough power in rod & reel to handle what I do throw...Mattlures n TT's look like the way Im leaning. Thanks Guys...Hey Burley.Scrooge, feel free to pic me up 1 of those Calcutta's, tis the season you know.

Swimbait?
I took a look at the Dobyns, nice for the price, I even found it for $129 shipp'd, also looked at the Okuma, TackleTour gave it a good write up, Powell's are nice. Like I mentined earlier Im really not sure I want to go the whole new rod route, Im trying to put some cash away for a bigger boat, thats why I was hoping I could use what I have. Thanks for all the help so far guys.

i got a boat!!(TM Question)
this may be somthing to consider for your fishfinder needs, real close to your buget, and they offer others at a higher price as well. http://store.humminbird.com/humminbird-products/sonar/fishin-buddy/110-fishin-buddy/prod407110-1.html as for TM's I have the Endura 55lb thrust on a 10ft JB, it moves it along fairly well, thats with 2 guys bout 200lbs each and full gear.

Swimbait?
I dont have a specific rod for the application, but RW recommend the smaller version of the mattlures. these: http://www.mattlures.com/babybass.htm
