fishing license
Thanks Darren for the assist, that's what makes the Forums a great resource. halochef, the "Second-Rod Sport Fishing Validation" is currently $14.61. When it originally started, I want to say it cost $7.50 and was a "stamp" afixed to your license. I really appreciated having the stamp when still fishing from shore with little ones

What was your worst fishing purchase decision ever?
My wife went fishing twice when we were dating. She doesn't want to go fishing now when I ask, saying "What's the point, I landed the biggest one there is"....

NBA Playoffs
I was watching the game and Parker have a turn back the clock game and how Houston was having trouble finding an answer. And then this unfortunate situation. Hopefully this isn't a career ending injury

Leaving Fish to Find Fish. When to stay/go?
IMO, one of the Golden Rules- "Never Leave Fish to Find Fish". Quite a few times after a successful day, you'll hear how 'caught all my fish on one bank", "stayed there all day", "just had to wait for the bigger fish to move up". Granted, the decision to leave is easier said than done. And in my experience, if you do leave you're counting on that next area to produce quality fish. And when it does you made a wise decision, and when it doesn't....

What was your worst fishing purchase decision ever?
I'm gonna go with my Color-C-Lector and associated plastic worms. I learned my lesson and didn't get reeled in by the Helicopter Lure or the Banjo Minnow. And delayed my use of that famous stick bait designed after a Bic pen...

Good camping at clear lake CA?
fisherrw, Clear Lake Cottages would be my other choice if you didn't want to stay at Konocti Vista. Hope you have good fishing and a safe trip. JB

Boat registration numbers placement
X-2. Bought Ranger awhile ago and had the guy hand paint my numbers with matching paint. Still looks great. I've gotta say some of the options mentioned and shown above can tie into the factory graphics really well.

What I need to know for my first boat
Hello Kye Abraham, well come to Bassresource and the Forums. Congratulations on the new boat. Regarding the Merc, I would say only use Optimax oil and only run 87-89 octane gas and you should years good service. Don't neglect the trailer or the hubs, every boat with a trailer on the side of the road are victims of the hubs being neglected. Sounds like you have a solid foundation with your dad and grandfather's help, and the Bassresource community will be happy to fill in any gaps. Good fishing to the Abraham family, JB

Rare animal sigthings
Wish I could trade that fox for a bunch of our Delta sea lions Brad. Did I mention they're easier to keep out of the hen house!

NBA Playoffs
Jar11591, Westbrook should get the nod for MVP in my opinion. Triple doubles aside, he plays D and took his team further with less in the way of surrounding pieces. Kawhi is definitely deserving, but I don't think it's gonna be this year. As for Harden, half his points come from the charity stripe, without mentioning his reluctance to play D. Lebron is the bell cow of the league, so he'll always be in the conversation regardless. Curry's numbers are comparable to last year's MVP season, but he isn't even mentioned because for him this year it's about the jewelry....

School Me on Investing
Kyle, you're asking the right questions and getting a lot of sound advice. Here's my .02 on the matter. A wise man once said when asked about investments, "buy land, they're not making any more of it". I know a guy, who was very focused on being successful and saved all the money he earned when he was your age. When he turned 18, he bought his first house. He fixed it up, sold it, and bought another house. He ended up running a property management firm for his properties and those of others, retiring at an enviable age... Best of luck to you, JB

FAIR TRADE OR NOT?
BASSEDOUT- Welcome to Bassresource and the Forums! As for your questions on this trade, I believe you probably already know the answer, but I'll say it anyway. The other guy will definitely be getting a relatively new, tricked out Jon boat tailored to you as opposed to a fishable 29 year old, 18ft, "Fish n Ski" Tracker. The cushions in front of the consoles are to allow a passenger to sit, legs stretched out, while the boat is under power. At least that was what the pictures in the catalogue portrayed at the time I considered buying one. I ended up getting a used Ranger by the way Above, fellow posters agree this trade wouldn't be in your best interest. Holding on to your boat and saving for another boat, either new or used, would be a wise decision in both in time and money. From the pictures, I'd like to say your current ride shows your pride of ownership and you shouldn't have much trouble when it comes time to sell. You mentioned wanting to start fishing tournaments, however have you considered doing so a co-angler, either in a club or a local circuit? I suggest this as a way to get an opportunity to talk with other boat owners, "test ride" different makes and models and see which layout you like prior to buying your new boat. Just my opinion and I hope it helps, good fishing, JB

NBA Playoffs
Hopefully Kerr will be OK and returns to the bench soon. Judging by the Portland series, I don't think the Dubs are going to repeat last year's mistakes. They've added a few wrinkles and seem a little more focused. Go Dubs!

Rare animal sigthings
Caught these two sealions napping and sunning themselves as I went into a marina to fish some docks. I'm guessing they had a bass breakfast because I didn't even get bit. They're not a rare sighting on the Delta, but thought some of you might appreciate the photo. This was taken 15 minutes north of Stockton off the main channel.

That sound you never want to hear...
Sorry Justin to hear about your lower unit issues. It definitely sucks to have your boat outta' commission for any length of time, it took three weeks for me to get my boat into the shop. I'm sure your shop is like mine that the backlog is they do quality work. As for the 400R, I couldn't agree with you more. A friend has a 300 Verado and when riding in his boat I have to chuckle to myself because it sounds like a jet engine compared to my Merc. I asked the mechanic how fast the rig go, and the boat owner said he's had it up to 86mph on his GPS with still more throttle to go. I had to shake my head when I heard that, cause you could prob use the boat for bracket racing after installing a four point harness.
