  1. so i went out to a new lake yesterday with my buddy. its a little 150 acre lake with lots of docks. the water was pretty stained from a lot of rain recenly, and pretty much weeds(coontail) everwhere. i used a 5" wacky rigged trick stick, skipping under docks all day, targetting mostly old wooden docks with a combonation of wood and grass in the backs of coves in the lower lake. Seems like a good pattern, but i just couldnt elicit a strike. i think what it was is that a wacky rig being a sight oriented bait, the water was just to dark for it to be effective. im just to stubborn to try anything different. ;D Oh well, cant catch em all the time, but my question is what are some good techniques for fishing docks and stained water? -j
  2. i like owners for heavier texas rigs, but i use gams for finesse baits. both are great hooks, but its like comparing apples and oranges.
  3. im exactly the same way. i love ifishing, but its a hobby, i dont want to make it a chore.
  4. well first i make sure im in complete camo, and set up a blind.... naw, but seriously, dont wear bright clothes, make light casts, use some flourocarbon. try skipping the bait past the fish, this has worked miracles. wacky rigged stick baits, t-rigged floatin worms, and very light jigs are what i use. GL! -j
  5. rage shads are awsome! i caught all my largest fish last year on topwater, with a good chunk of em off this bait. the shad color is the only color i have used. just pull the tab off the tail, with a ewg 4/0 gammy t-rigged with tail up. reel it at a quick clip and make sure that head is wobblin, and hold on!
  6. i would like it try somthing new this season. just need a little insight on these. -floating worm -tubes -soft swimbaits -poppers foolproof ways to fish em? i dont want ot jump the gun to much on em, just some tried and true methods. thanks! -j
  7. between 60-85. although during late fall, they will demolish buzzbaits in 50 degree water. they are stockin up for winter. in spring however, hmmmm, not so much.
  8. shoot for a trion. dont bother with the xt, its the same thing as the original, just in red. its really not all that much lighter either.
  9. check out the carrot stix crankin rods. good tip action and lightwieght.
  10. im going to be buying a new spinning setup soon, somthing around 200+$. i was thinking of a croix mojo and a pflueger supreme XT, but wanting to see what others think. kistler make good rods? what about diawa? thanks.
  11. i own a 6'6" mh casting rod, and it is great for what it is. for 90 bux, it really is a good rod. though it is a little top heavy, its very sensitive and comfy. i bought it because my "generic" premier(triumph) broke.
  12. 5/16 oz eakins jig in pb&j with matching eakins craw trailer.
  13. my secret is dynamite... just dont tell the warden! :-X but seriously... a modified buzzbait
  14. the only time i would think "matching the hatch" is during fall, when there a lot of shad that have spawned earlier in the year and are everywhere in the shallows. the only reason i would think that would come into play is because the water is at its clearest that tie of the year. other that, show somthin new!
  15. bingo. thats all i wanted to know. thanks t9.
  16. legend extremes are up there. i dont own one, but i used a buddy of mines and i swear i felt a fish fart.
  17. ditto on twin tailed grubs.
  18. ive heard of people doing it, but with so many companies out there that make so many varieties of one bait, it saves the frustration to just buy em. take the shad rap for example. original is solid balsa. but now they have the plastic RS, jointed, and the new x-rap model.
  19. quick question. ive heard numerous times of how baits have a "hunting", "seeking" or "searching" action, like crankbaits, and the one i hear of the most, rage 'condas. im clueless. :-?
  20. great info. ive been wanting to try rage tails, but im hard headed, lol. my old power worm may have to take back seat for a while.
  21. burn a lipless crank around. if you find a concentration of fish, slow down and milk em with a jig. eakins jigs are great for this. -j
  22. snacks? who needs snacks? when im on the water i catch my own sushi! lol, but seriously, i like me some taco bell. with 2 cheesy double beef burritos and some nachos with cheese, when im fishin at night i never have to worry about gettin pestered by bugs.
  23. three fav's: Rattlin rap, loud spro aruku shad, louder rat. trap, loudest, these things rattle the boat!
  24. 5 in trick stick, or eakins jig. close tie between the two. for big bass, my best lure is an old strike king buzzbait.
