Can't get my self to use crankbaits.........
Not really. It 's a matter of apllication and knowing what 's out there, fish don 't have to be in agressive mood to attack and be caught with a crankbait, you can catch fish in neutral or non aggresive mood with crankbaits if you fish with the right ones. that is why i stated them as a "bird dog", for instances if you dont know whats out there. a crankbait can be a good lure to find underwater cover,(deflection is key here) or concentrations of fish. although i might have overstated by saying it catches only agressive bass, for most fishermen that ihave seen (as for myself) a crankbait is a great search tool.( not saying that this is always true, there are pllenty of die hard crankers out there to dissect this more thouroghly) just my to cents. sorry for not clarifying this earlier raul, my apologies. -j

Pflueger Reels
the summit is a VERY nice reel, but has a one flaw: a very small spool.(at least the one i tested) im debating between a diawa(forgot he name, its the more expensive one with the twichin bar) or a president. im going to get the prez, its only a 100 bux and is a very nice deal for the money. check em out.

Can't get my self to use crankbaits.........
cranks are the "bird dogs" of fishing lures. sure, they can and will catch big ones, but they are ultimatley lures used to find aggressive bass. cast around a crankbait until you find some fish in a given area, and then slow down with soft plastics and really work that spot over. who knows how many tourneys have been won with this method. good luck! -j

Action of a french fry/centipede???
its a very subtle bait. ive used some cetipedes before skipping docks, using a 2/0 gammy ewg, with a small nail in the tail of it. when usin a spinnin outfit, it actually falls away from you for some reason. falls real fast with enough weight, fish seem to like that round here. have never fished it wacky though, might go pick up some more now that i think about it. ;D

largie: 21 in(round 5.5 lbs) smallie:17 in. hybrid(biggest fish, I WANT BIGGER) 26 in, 8 1/2 lbs bream: 12 in. crappie: 16 in. channel: 27 in.

Whats Good For Striped or Hybrids
big jerk baits have worked real well in the past for me. caught a 9 lb. hybrid on a big husky jerk last fall. some of the hardest fighting fish ive ever hooked into!
-
What would you suggest?
i really like the horny toad. i put em in boilin water for about a min. or so, gives the legs better action. horny is my back up for my ragetail shads, can retrieve it at same speed but is more subtle than that of the RT shad. great for more finicky topwater bite, atleast imo.

Birthday coming up...which baitcaster?
pflueger summit. awsome reel. i would say a diawa millionaire, but they have been replace by the luna(i would recammend this also, but its out of your price range, lol.)

night fishin results
j-boogie, its a big nieghborhood called mallard point, it consists of 3 lakes, 2 smaller ones, and one big one being around 100 acres. chock full of fish. you can only fish it if you are accompanied by people who live there. there is literally no fishing pressure in these lakes, just the local residents. how is cedar creek if i may ask? ive heard there has been some big uns already bein taken out of there. isnt the lake record largie like 7 1/2 lbs? not bad for a lake as young as it is.

Daiwa Millionaire
ive got a smaller one, and has been really good to me for the 4-5 years ive had it. smooth, easy drag, and casting distance with this thing is pretty darn good. only bad thing ive had with it is the handle pads arnt great, i put some of those pro grips on it and it feels a lot better. here is a link to a pretty in depth review on this reel: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwacvx.html

got some cats, the biggest ones in the avy. set up the jugs about 3:30, went back to a friends house for a quick nap, shower and a change of clothes went and got em about 7 or so. must say, was quite a wake up call seeing those jugs goin bonkers! :olol -j

night fishin results
so recently went out on a night excursion at a little 100 acre private lake for a little jug line cat and bass fishing. truth is, i had never had much luck for bass at night, but the tables turned on this trip . only had enough time to bass fished for maybe 30-45 mins, but caught three doing so. all were caught on a 1/2 oz. rattle trap, one on a tapering flat, and the 2 biggest around some boat docks. 2 biggest: (sorry for bad qaulity, lense fogged up pretty bad on me) forgot to mention, caught em around 2-3 am on a full moon ;D -j -

thanks all, ill look into those bps crankin rod. im guessin its like a hybrid or somthing? graphite and glass mix? do they have a good amount of give? im lookin for somthing rather flimsy, but with some backbone. as far as the shimano rod, it just sounds like its expensive. lookin for some input here! lol! -j

Basic arsenal for a bluegill forage base?
chatterbaits with a black, brown, and chartruese skirt, spinners with some sort of 'truese in it, cranks with a brown back, 'truese sides and some sort of orange on the belly. starting to see a pattern here? if all else fails, ill offer em somthing different, like a creature bait or soft stick bait. -j

pitchin'/skippin' docks
usually i use a trick stick, senkos just cant take the punishment being dished out while skippin em hard, imo. matched with a m/h spinning rod, 4/0 offset shank hook, and any where from 8, 10, or 12 lb test mono, i generaly get good hook sets, shock absorbtion and abrasion resistance to get even the biggest fish out n' about. also, another bait that is good for skippin, and works really well for agressive fish(at least for me) is a 1/4 oz. rattle trap. its somthin dock fish never (or very rarely) seen before. works great! -j
