  1. That LTX is a good topwater rod but not great for cranks. I use the 6'10"MH Carrot Stix Gold for the purposes you are needing and couldn't ask for a better rod.
  2. I use P-line CXX and Flouroclear for most of my fishing. I don't like braid and use very little fluorocarbon so copoly lines are pretty much it for me, although, I have bought a couple new spools of FC to try out this year
  3. No kidding... I've got two but for that price I would have three.
  4. I'm not fond of braid and don't use it much but the best I have used has been the Suffix, the color doesn't bleed like others, fireline is some of the worst I've seen .
  5. The cat must be Shimano/Daiwa guy
  6. It is now, the supreme casting reel was discontinued last year I think. Different design and profile than the Summit, close to the old President.
  7. I've always wanted a Summit but never got one. They seem like pretty nice reels. I have a Supreme that is a great reel so I'm sure the Summit isn't far behind.
  8. I don't think it's that important to read the manual, some reels don't even come with one, just an exploded schematic. All that my be beneficial from reading the manual would be how to remove the side plate and adjust the brakes on a centrifugal breaking reel.
  9. had one for a Sony Vaio that I got from Hong Kong for $8, worked for about a month then started sparking from the box. Spent $30 on a Targus and have been using it for 3 years, don't go cheap. I'd rather spend a few bucks more for a charger that works instead of $500+ for a new laptop because you went cheap on a charger.
  10. I have had a pack for about two years and fished them maybe once. They are basically a 10'' worm with a flat and thicker body. they don't float like the Doug Hannon snakes, you use a constant retrieve for a topwater swimming action, it looks like a snake swimming though.
  11. I'm sure there are some bass pro rods that come in two pieces. The Damiki Angel EX is a little higher than your price ($80) but it comes in two peices. They are all 6'6'' with varying powers.
  12. I saw it in theaters, it was a good try. Basic principal as Blair Witch but executed way better. Didn't find it very scary, it felt a little more like watching a reenactment than actual footage. I liked the comedic relief of Micah. The worst part was that basically everything that happens was shown in the first trailer that had actual footage, other than the audiences reaction, it even had a clip of the end. I mean, they had a whole 5 mins of "activity" in the movie, the rest is talk and sleep.
  13. 6'10" for shallow cranks, jerkbaits, and topwater. 7' for deep cranks.
  14. I use a 7'M Daiwa Zillion for my tubes now. I bought it last year for about $170 (eBay offer). It's really sensitive and even though it's a M, this thing is stiff and powerful. I would also say 703 Powell or dobyns savvy in you range.
  15. I saw that fishing university too and thought this was actually a neat idea, the way they explained it made plenty of sense. It seemed like alot of thought went into the design and they said they had to redesign the weight distribution and dynamics. They are a bit pricey but I think they look good and from the show, it seemed that all the fish were hooked in the top of the mouth.
  16. don't have a lure that works 60% of the time, all the time....but I do have a few that I'm always sure to throw, regardless of conditions. One is a shakey head, usually a 6'' Finesse Worm in Watermelon/Purple Swirl or a Roboworm in Martens Magic. The other is an Owner Cultiva rip'n minnow 65sp in Blue Ghost or Black Pearl, caught fish all last year on it.
  17. Not to fond of any of those reels, used to want a Megaforce, then realized the bar was unnecessary and an extra piece to break, and I seen a lot of them broken. I would say take a look at the Vision XLT (urrently $99)or the Matrix XLT ($95), they are both within the price of the Megaforce +. I would also mention the Exceler, seems like a fine reel.
  18. A buddy did that to some of his Rat-L-Traps after the talk about it last year. It worked really well, added a bit of weight, and doesn't affect the action. The only problem was with the Red Craw patterned Rat-L-Trap that youo get at Wal-Mart, the one that used to say 2007 Bassmasters Classic winning bait. The glue had some sort of reaction with the plastic and pretty much melted, it still held its shape but you could bend the tail and it was really soft and gooey. Long story short, that works well for rat-l-traps, never have seen it done on others but I'm sure it would work.
  19. 7'M airrus copperhead... I'm thinking about one for shallow cranks/jerbaits if I decide to replace my carrot stix gold
  20. I got the p-17s last year, took about 6-8 weeks for mine.
