New ! Rod
I have this exact rod except mine says Small Swimbait Special but the exact same specs. I have been fishing plastics, tubes, small jigs, and small spinnerbaits and love it.

KYntucky Warmouth replied to FishDontLikeMe1301600221's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsLooks nice but puts me in mind of a new Exceler, definitely didn't expect that price from just the pictures. I don't like the aggrest on it like that but other than that I would give it a shot

"Brand Guy"
I can't be pegged to just one brand of rod or reel. I would consider myself a "Get a Deal Guy" As far as reels go I have 3 Pflueger Patriarchs, 1 Pflueger Supreme, 1 Pflueger Asaro, 2 Shimano Curados (E5 and E7), 1 Daiwa Sol, 1 Daiwa Alphas, 1 Daiwa Fuego, 1 Quantum Energy, 1 Quantum Code, 1 Abu Revo S, 1 Abu Revo Toro, 1 Quantum Energy Spinning, 1 Pflueger President Spinning, and 1 Mitchell Advocet. For rods I have 2 Kistler Magnesiums, 2 BPS Cranking Sticks, 1 BPS Pro Qualifier, 1 BPS Extreme Spinning, 1 Lucky Craft Cranking rod, 2 Carrot Stix (1 LTX, 1 gold), 1 Powell Max, 1 St. Croix Avid, 1 Damiki Dark Angel Spinning, 1 Castaway Big Show, and 1 Berkley Lightening Rod. The only things that were purchased at retail cost were the Mitchell Advocet, Berkley Lightening Rod, and the Lucky Craft Rod. I don't think I left anything out.

New Rod
Sounds like me, I have two Kistler Magnesiums, a Powell Max, Damiki Dark Angel, Castaway Big Show, St. Croix Avid, Carrot Stix LTX, Carrot Stix Gold, Lucky Craft Cranking Rod, and a BPS Pro Qualifier. All were bought either here, on ebay, or Tackle Warehouse sight unseen, except the LTX, Avid, and the Pro Qualifier. The PQ and LTX were bought at BPS and the avid at dicks and were handled before purchase. I have been lucky that I have liked all the rods I have gotten so far but it pays to be able to handle them. The Kistlers and Powell rods are lighter than the Castaway and the Avid I have, the damiki is around the same weight, the lucky craft is probably the heaviest but its fiberglass. If you haven't checked out the Avid at BPS you should do so, they also carry falcon, quantum, and I think they started carrying kistler but they aren't in all stores

Best Shaky Head Rod
you're gonna get many different answers, I personally use a 7'M Damiki Dark Angel and it is great. If you wanna stay BPS I would say a Pro Qualifier or Pro-Lite Finesse. Depending on your budget, there are almost too many rods to choose from.

first baitcaster...... will this do??
Here dicks has a silver max/lightening rod for $70....you gotta watch if you buy a combo that is already together at dicks or anywhere else, they get abused and are most often broken in one way or another.

Help with Revo Parts
call pure fishing on the Abu Garcia line, emails are worthless with pure fishing, make the call, tell them the part, give them your CC number and you'll have it in less than 5 days.

fireline braid / power pro
not used the new fireline but have fished both PP and suffix and prefer the suffix. I didn't like the fact that the caoting on the PP rubbed off so easily and it was too flat. The suffix braid is lighter in color but is superior and cast better as well.

New Rod
The Carrot Stix are gonna be lighter than most rods in their range, a minimalist rod. The Kistlers and Powells are similar to each other, the powells feel a bit more tip heavy but balance a little better with heavier reels. I have and fish all three brands, I also have and Avid that is a in that price, it's a little heavier than any of the other mentioned, seems to be a beefier blank. The best way to decide is to physically hold the rod before you purchase one if possible. There are always little things that you may not like and won't know until you hold it. If I had held a carrot stix gold first, i don't think I would have one, tips a bit spongy, but it makes a heck of a shallow crank rod.

need some rod help
depending on how long you've had it, BPS will replace it, and sometimes it doesn't matter how old the rod is, but that depends on your local store. The Extremes are nice, the Pro Qualifier is better and only $20 more when on sale. The Avid is always a good choice

Revo S vs Revo SX

New ! Rod
Yes that's the one and i am sure it would be ok! Many are detoured by the ratings on the Powell rods IMO. They are pretty overrated in power and actions though. The 705C is more like a MH/F than Mag H/ Ex F! There is no difference that i could find between the 704C and the 705C really! I really think you would like it. Hey, if you don't i will buy it off you man, LOL! The 705c would be a good choice. I have fished the 705 and 704 and think there is a slightly different feel to each but both are good rods

Is Pline CXX a good line for flipping light jigs?
you could probably get away with 12-15 for light stuff

Your Favorite Gear Stinks
Even though I own at least one reel from most of the major companies, I'll gladly take my Pflueger and Quantum turds on my rods, that are said to be as sensitive as a piece of rebar, out everytime I go and fish my faux swimbaits, my cranks that need to be tuned, and my actionless plastics.
-
Revo S vs Revo SX
The mag brake on the SX is a little in the wind, you don't even have to have wind, if someone sneezes in your general direction you are gonna get a nest.

New ! Rod
I would say put in a little more money and get either a Powell Max 702c or 703c or a Kistler Magnesium 7'MH or 6'10''MH. For the $100 mark the mojo is good but there are also the Kistler Carbon Steel and Falcon Original and Lowrider and loads of other rods now and to come shortly in that range

Boyd Duckett Dumps E21
I have two, one ltx and one gold. I honestly like the rods, the gold more so than the ltx, and have not had any problems with them and the gold gets fished alot, i use it or cranks, the ltx is a worm rod and I have 4 so it gets rotated. The sensitivity of the ltx leaves something to be desired but is an all around good rod.

pflueger criterion
thats the reel problem, it's not a pflueger problem, just a cheap reel problem. I have 5 Pflueger baitcasters and 2 spinning reels. I have 3 Patriarchs, a Supreme, an Asaro, and 2 Presidents and not a problem with any of them and didn't pay over $130 for any of them

New Rod
I have a 7'M Dark Angel spinning rod that is pretty much my workhorse...no matter what plan to do, it gets used on every outing. I use it for shakey heads, weightless plastics, drop-shot, jerkbaits, and finesse spinnerbaits. I am really considering getting a few casting rods as well. They have an extra fast action that is really nice with a smooth but quick transition into backbone. I also have a 7'h and 7'mh kistler magnesium. Nice rods as well. Both would be good choices. I would also suggest the Powell max rods. If at all possible, get your hands on them before buying.
