  1. Whether the world ends, the calendar ends, whatever,...UPS will still have me out delivering boxes,...trust me. ;D "All staff are required to report at the normal start times on Monday, Dec 23rd, 2012. We foresee no break in service due to the recent apocalypse. Thank you."
  2. Looks good boss, thanks for all the hard work.
  3. SWIM Covers everything from Cardio to basic stretching of all the muscles, head to toe. My mom swims every morning, has done it for 20 yrs or so now.
  4. The longer rod does a few things but the main 2 would be 1. Longer casts 2. More leverage The line is what makes a huge difference. There are all different kinds of designs from floating, sinking, sinking tip, floating tip, shooting line, etc. That's where your research will pay off.
  5. Great stuff guys. I was just asking because I'm really not that familiar with newer generation b/c's. I got to use a bunch of nice ones at Redlines but this one was on the shelf for $169 and I just got the instant impression that a reel retailing in that range should be tight. Now, Does it matter? That's a personal opinion I guess. Natural points out that the lapse never cost him fish but the longevity of the reel is superior. To me and my "Low Budget" way of thinking, this is very important. I'm not buying the reel, just for the record, just trying to understand a side of the industry that I am weak in. For my next purchase, all I really want is LIGHT. I'm having Fletchero make me a super light split grip that will get an MG or something comparable, weight wise. I'm going to be spending good money on the blank to help achieve this. The set ups of Redlineroberts that piqued me most were the ones that felt like they would float out of your hand. I felt the intense, magnification of the fish through the rods sensitivity and even small 1-2 lb fish became interesting to feel. I mean, really feel. So,...that's my goal with this next rod. I was inquiring about the curado with Bill because I know if he has it and I want it, I won't get a better price anywhere. Unfortunately, his reel case doesn't come close to Redlineroberts, lol. I'm slowly building my perfect set of rods (4, maybe 5 when it's all said and done) that I plan to use and protect for a long, long time to come. Any suggestions for reels? I don't mind spending good money but outrageous money is out of the question. I like SEXY looking stuff too Right now, I would be looking for that crazy good deal on a lefty mg unless anyone can change my mind. Thanks again for all the educational and interesting replies so far.
  6. Exercise,....and LOTS of it!
  7. He's a good looking dude!! Looks like he's trying to figure out a pattern,.....maybe he should call GRANDMA??? lol Imagine having a grandmother that can outfish everyone?? Cool.
  8. Yesterday, I was delivering to my favorite mom n pop shop. The owner Bill said he had some leftover stuff in left hand retrieve that he would let me have for cost if interested. He handed me a Curado, dsv? 201? Anyway, this thing had a ton of back play and felt really terrible. Is this common?
  9. Stick with the 9wt and you can use it here for Stripers and Blues next yr. If you were looking for a largemouth rod, I would stay with a 7 wt,..maybe an 8. So what happened, you accidentally turn to a page in a catalogue that had all kinds of billeted, gold reels and you just had to have one, huh? ;D You can't go wrong with a Sage, but also look into Redington, Orvis and Loomis I WILL say this though,.....My 1st fly rod set up was a $25 Eagle Claw combo. Bob ended up feeding it, tip first, into the prop with a Bluefish on and he replaced it with a Sage (what a guy, huh?) well, I ended up buying another combo (same one) for teaching newbies how to cast w/o worrying about a $300 rod. I use the $25 combo more than the Sage to this day, lol. Low Budget? You bet.
  10. Slab bait?? Is that a spoon? I've never heard the term.
  11. Yea, you've got Winnie and Champlain right in your backyard, 2 of the best fisheries in the country. GET A GUIDE!!! At least for the 1st day. Let us know what you decide upon. Have a blast!!
  12. Bassnleo, you'll be happy to know, and this reverts back to the "tipping" thread, that I hand delivered 2 coffees to 2 Police Officers who were pulling special duty yesterday. They were re-routing traffic due to a blown water main. They were still there about 2 hrs after I first passed them, on my way to Dunkin Donuts so I grabbed 2 extra coffees and left them with the guys. The "tipping" thread got me thinking about our police and fire personel, If anyone deserves a tip.......THEY DO! They seemed to really appreciate the "warm up"
  13. Excellent job Ronnie, but quite frankly, I'm not surprised. One thing, please remove "Dirk" from the main list, he took the same vacation week as me unfortunately.
  14. I'm a member on a fishing video hosting site called brag and release. This site is based out of Australia and is relatively new. I was one of their first members, uploading many of my vids. well, it looks like the CAST video from this yr really hit a nerve with these guys. I just got a long email explaining that the video was the main deciding factor that triggered these guys to go provide video coverage for a yearly event held in the outback. You can't stop a determined group of anglers when they get a good idea going!! Here is a vid from the event. VIDEO
  15. Al-It's all easy stuff with very rewarding results. Sanding, painting, and the ability to use a staple gun, glue can and cordless drill. That's all the skill required. Very easy, let me know if I can help.
  16. Go to the forum FAQ's, there are 3 different tutorials for posting pics (they are at the very beginning of the FAQ's)
  17. 8-10 of the ugly stuff. This storm hit at a very bad time and it hit hard. Traffic was a nightmare in RI, kids were still on school buses at 10:00 last night!!!! I'm serious! With that said, we almost emptied the building yesterday. Only the heaviest dispatched drivers did not clean the routes (were very few of those) and we made service on 87% of what we had on board for the day (A very high number, I would guess Fedex ran at about 70-75%) but here's the best part,...... NO ACCIDENTS!! The crew really got it done yesterday. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
  18. Fruit juices (alot), gatorade type drinks, water, milk, coke or pepsi
  19. slomoe- you'll never know if you don't try. Read the quote in my signature.
  20. Regardless of his musical talent, I always thought the guy was a crumb for the way he treated Tina. A real crumb.
  21. I actually like heights. Launching off cliffs was my very favorite thing to do (Skiing-a "calculated" risk) but heights in a car (big bridges, etc) ,..I don't like. Add a heavy wind and an empty UPS truck and it's a white knuckle ride home from Newport or Jamestown (2 big islands here) Losing engine power offshore makes me nervous also.
  22. That's what we like to hear. We spend a lot of time and money to get drivers that efficient. Gidge,....I think I know who you are talking about... ;D
  23. Make a bet? This............... Took hours of grinding with 60 grit to get off. Muddy. PICTURES, takes 2 seconds, and we'll start from there.
