Dang, just read back, I didn't mean to come off like "that". I just wanted to relay how a small act can completely change someones day, Christmas or otherwise.

Jon Boat Mods - Do's and Don'ts
I'd rather be in front of a reliable 10, than a questionable 30. But with reliability comes possible lack of speed..... If I'm building a jon boat, it's most likely for an electric only lake. I'll take a 101 on the bow. With stealth comes fish ;D

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO REEL MECHANIC
I hear that!! Dave has been a huge asset to the site and one of the family from the beginning. Not to mention that he helps to keep the site up and running by being a consistent advertiser Then there is the reliable fact that when he answers on a thread, you finally get the indisputable answer. Merry Christmas RM !

I feel so bad.....
Not me man, I have a house cat that shreds my arm when we play fight and she's only playing. I couldn't imagine what she could do if she weighed 150 lbs.

I feel so bad.....
That's not how it works in some parts of the country Tin. Some farms and ranches are 1/2 the size of our state and it's up to the owner to protect his assets (livestock, etc) They need to familiarize themselves with the laws first of course, but usually, it's up to them to act within it and deal with the issue first hand.

Shimano Possee
My opinion also. whatever is closer,....it's not the gear it's the guy throwing it. RW- Don't hold back, we love that about you. Would you consider expanding your horizons and trying some new stuff or is it a "comfort with what you know" scenario?

Merry Christmas to All

THE OFFICIAL "WHAT DID YOU GET" THREAD!
I got the day off. Being single can suck, lol Last couple days have been a little tough, I don't know if it's the work, with no time to do anything else, the fact that my family is spread out this yr or just a common seasonal depression but when I got home last night, I was absolutely miserable,.........till I got a surprise. I look over at my plants and there is a present under the big one,..what the heck? I go grab it and it says to LBH from Santa. In it was a plano box with some new j-bugs in it!! STARTOSDADRI,....had to be. He has access to my place, knows I use j-bugs(because I used all his last yr,lol) and has the heart to go out of his way and surprise someone who REALLY needed it. I called him and said "I've been bringing Christmas to people 12 hrs a day for the last 3 weeks, you brought Christmas to me" It's amazing how something so simple can lift you. It's not the lures, it's the thought. This act was the personification of Christmas, I haven't even spoken to Mike in almost a month, yet he remembered, and went out of his way to brighten my day. Thanks Mike,....you really hit a home run, your thoughtfulness made my Christmas. Merry Christmas!!!

Keeping a small bass?
I congratulated him early this morning in my first reply to the thread,I even quoted it above for you. If you aren't going to take the time to read replies, I'm not going to bother. I have nothing to defend here, moving on.......
-
Keeping a small bass?
Well, First of all, if you read ALL the replies, you would have seen mine from yesterday (below)(from page 2 of the other thread) However, when I realized that some guys might not realize Matts age and situation (first bass ever) and start to criticize him for keeping the fish, I stepped in and educated instead of criticized so all could see how we tend to try to lead & educate the youth instead of putting them down here at BR. (much like you did in your reply) I did that in the reply brlow (from other thread) So,....I GOTTA ask,.....What are you talking about??? :-/ (One thing I've never been accused of is putting a kid down, I don't get it) I also understand that harvesting certain fish can be helpful to an ecosystem but I am not the expert on which sizes from which body so I follow the rules and guidelines set by the people who do, my state agency. I merely suggested he learn how to do the same and check up on his local laws. And lastly, yes, I've always been a catch and release fisherman with the exception of my commercial sales of Giant Bluefin Tuna, Striped Bass and various shellfish.

What the heck happened???
Happens often. In my job, it's part of the process when you deliver to someone waiting for you, I say "One more for you" and I get a "Thank You, Happy Holidays" and I ALWAYS reply, "you too, Merry Christmas" (I admit, I say it just to see if people will object) I have never been "scorned" but I have been "told" -I'm not religious -Can you guys say that? -You know, not everyone believes in Christmas.. etc. again, never scolded but called on it,...all the time.

I caught my first bass(I now have pics)!!!
Matt- I want to take just a second to fill you in on a couple things that you need to know now that you have found out how to be successful with that rod and reel you have. Here, in the states, Bass have to be of a certain size to be legal to remove from the lake/pond. We all understand that you wanted a pic of your first Bass and you'll be glad you have it 20 yrs from now, trust me, but before you go and turn into a pro, you need to learn your local laws regarding the harvest of Bass and the size limits. The usual minimum size ranges from 12-16". Also, read up a little about "catch and release". Educating yourself on these topics will help you understand the water you fish and will help you from doing anything detrimental without knowing. You did a great job buddy, keep it up!!
-
Keeping a small bass?
JT- Prob not But,.....this is where WE , as adults, EDUCATE him as to the laws and also the ethics of this sport. Like Avid said, it was his FIRST bass and that in itself is pretty cool. We got another youth who is hooked, let's not scare him away with criticism.

How the heck do you reach this?
You're kidding, right? a guy with your imagination...... A. Elevators run through center core of mountain. Enter through drop down shrubbery, like bat cave, park in "under mountain" Garage and take elevator up. Service elevator is larger and located slightly behind the main elevator. B. Whirrly-Bird C. Parachute from your jet D. And my favorite part, Is the EXITS - emergency exits 1. Multiple base jumping harnesses and chutes located around perimeter 2. Three Zip lines leading to 3 different parked vehicles. Options include... -Line 1--Yamaha Raptor -Line 2--19'Boston Whaler River rat with 400hp jet engine parked on Lake-Whirlly Bird on other side of lake -Line 3-- H2 Seriously though, that's probably a tram cable on the left I know 1 thing, I would have the best fence possible surrounding the place...... The rush of your life interrupted by abrupt blackness.

Jon Boat Mods - Do's and Don'ts
I wouldn't use bed-liner. I like it where your feet rest and where the motors mount but NOT ON THE BOTTOM. Didn't do it's job, added weight and DRAG and didn't last ( we have to drag the boat for a couple feet where we launch. We now have a small portable, wheeled, set up we "roll" it in with now.) I would have chosen to go with a large 24v motor instead of multiple 55's I would not have taken so much time to get all the glue off the floor (Orbital sander) had I realized that the floors cover all that (DUH!) This year I am thinking of making a removable front deck w/ leaning post for when I fish alone. I am still thinking of how to mount a small foot control motor on a front deck that is: -Securable -removable -do-able without changing anything regarding the current set up. -Very clean looking, I don't want it to look like an "add on" like it will actually be. I want to be able to lift it into place, lock it in and fish. I can do it, I'm just giving it extra thought before I do.
