  1. A. not my bait company b. I plug what I believe in and the topic was "saving money". This find was my biggest money saver in the last year,I was asked to share. C. I am not sponsored and BUY my baits just like you. But thanks
  2. Well said and DITTO. So sad for your loss and I wish I could lift your frustration but the fact that this all bothers you so much and that you care so deeply only proves that you are not a failure. I'm not married but I would think it is an agreement, something understood that,...I may need to lean on you and it's ok to lean on me. Some marriages are never tested, just make sure she knows how appreciated SHE is. Hang tough, things will turn up. If we can help just ask. Our office is always open, we don't even close on X-mas, 24/7/365
  3. Ditto, "light" for me would be a sand, tan, pumpkin, a color most others would consider "dark" (soft plastics)
  4. Well, I've gotten a couple calls from people who attended last years CAST event and they are asking if we are going fishing again. It kills me to say "No" because we ARE indeed doing it again, but for all new kids. I was speaking with one of the head honchos of our state's D.E.M. (like everyone elses DNR)(Dept of envir. mngmt) and we were discussing the states latest acquisition. A few years back, I was lucky enough to be a member at a private fly fishing club. It had a hatchery and 5 ponds that were all connected. Members were allowed to take fish and all were replaced monthly through the river system and hatchery by replacing all the fish listed at the honor system weigh house. GREAT place. Well, the gentleman running it for yrs and yrs was looking to finally sell it. The state was buying trout from them for years for the opening day stockings and saw it as a good business venture to acquire the hatchery. My friend at D.E.M. suggested we use the place when she heard about our work with CAST for Kids. The only thing is that the event we hold really plays alot on getting the kids out on the boats, which are not allowed here. So I got to thinking..... Announcing the 1st annual CFK Alumni Day!!!!! July 29 Every year, we are going to invite the kids back to go fish at this hatchery. My long term goal is to have kids from the original events, working as volunteers at the main events 10-15 yrs from now. This is also a great opportunity to keep in contact with the kids and their families, many of whom I consider friends. This will also give the families a scheduled day each year to get out and fish. We announced this as a day to come let us re familiarize you with the gear we gave you and have a great day of fishing. We are providing bait, assistance and FISH, that's it. No gear, shirts, boats, etc. Stratosdadri just happened to have 1 weekend day available , July 29th, and that day works for D.E.M. so we will even have Mike and his team there. It wouldn't be anywhere near what I would hope if they could not attend but luckily, it's a "GO". Mike was also the source for the D.E.M. contact, introducing us a few weeks earlier. And ,...of course,....the Telecom Pioneers called and insist on doing Burgers, dogs, chips, soda and water for everyone attending!!! I can't wait, what was just a bad feeling one night, telling kids "no, we aren't going fishing" has now turned into a full blown event just 3 days later!! Calls were made, word spread and BANG, another chapter is started for CFK-Rhode Island. These kids will have a blast, the place is LOADED with fish and has educational sites scattered around along with a wheelchair accessible dock on pond 3! Brookies, browns, rainbows, LM, crappie and bluegill are spread out , some in mixed populations, some independent. The place really is "something else" My niece Tory, flyfishing at American Fish Culture-age 6 She always had to wear my flyfishing vest, no matter how much it got in the way,lol (she's starting college next yr!! ) Just going back to this place is going to bring back some fantastic memories for me. Now we can add to those. I'm VERY excited, WOOHOO!!!!
  5. "I forgot the question...", Oh Geez.lol. : ;D Talking with Billy was a pleasure and I would like to thank him now for letting us promote the site and help spread the word. He's a very sincere guy and I truly look forward to speaking with him again in the future. GO BASSFEED!!
  6. when I think "light", I think sand or a light pumpkin whereas watermelon would be a darker color for me
  7. WW2, all due respect intended but I have to strongly disagree with you. Having spent many years in both vessels, the 12 ft jon outperfoms the basshunter 5X over. Jons are stabler. Much stabler. Larger working platform. More storage area. Will last longer (basshunters tend to leak after time, fixing is much more difficult than fixing a leaking jon as they leak at the seam.) Weights are comparable. 8ft BH vs 12 ft jon as for the 10' jon,...now I would prefer the basshunter. I am strictly talking about a 12' jon and an 8' basshunter and 2 people in an 8' is EXTREMELY tight. Like, so tight, if you have feet, don't bring a tackle box if you ever want to put them down, lol.
  8. How I found my jon--I made copies of a flyer stating That I noticed the boat in your yard and was wondering if you were interested in selling it. Add your name and phone number and a THANK YOU. I then kept them in my day bag I take on the truck (camera, supplies, extra cloths etc,..NOT a purse, lol) When I would get into a "lakeside" neighborhood, I would leave a notice in the door of any house that had a boat I would be willing to work with. Many of these boats are accumulating moss, etc, used by a son before college who has since moved out etc, Many of these vessels are just an eyesore at moms house, they are HAPPY to get rid of it. You can tell which boats are getting used or not. Now, this was easy for me because I'm a UPS driver and in these neighborhoods every day but I hand3ed out less than 20 of them before finding one. I had about 5 call backs , even a few to just say it wasn't for sale. Nice of them to call. This can be done on 1 saturday though. Pick a few lakes near you and target the neighborhood around it. Good luck
  9. It's not about a wing man. You're trying too hard, girls can smell "desperate" a mile away, huge turn off. Confidence conquers.
  10. Sounds like a fun day! You are a true ambassador, always representing with your PFD on, a great example for all. (you know, you can post all those pics under 1 post, no limit when using a host, no need for multiple posts, just an FYI)
  11. Wacky 100% of the time. Gives the bait the most action, allowing both ends to wiggle. We have lots of grass but it's hydrilla and doesn't present an issue.
  12. stowability is nice with those. About the same as a windsurfer.
  13. Yea, that small, it's no issue. You don't even need to use the ramp like you would with a bass boat. No need to "float" a boat that small off the trailer. Get it close and dunk it by hand (only if it's a steep, slippery, nasty ramp, otherwise your fine.) I even pulled my 16ft whaler with it but not far, ramp is right down the street.
  14. Noone ever said all 4 wheels had to stay on the ground,....."on time" means "ON TIME"!! ;D
  15. This one would just take too much data analysis. Too much counting and you'd have to do it for a decent amount of time to get a real idea. I bet the pros have an idea how they do but for the every day angler, I don't think very many keep track.
  16. I think we have the same boat HERE is what I did with mine. Your links above are not working, what questions do you have?
  17. I like the wheels on the back idea but for the money, I'll take a jon boat any day. MUCH more room and much more versatile. I paid less for my jon WITH trailer than dirk did for his basshunter (which has been retired and replaced with a jon) The nice part about either of these is that they don't NEED a trailer(although they are a nice add-on) and they can both be loaded/unloaded by 1 person. Either one is better than the bank
  18. Redlinerobert lost one too on the hwy, lesson learned. Mine stay on but they are are on a swivel that tightens to the pedestal. Pedestal is screwed to the boat, ain't nothin' goin nowhere.
  19. Wire management is my specialty from doing car audio for years, let me know if you need some suggestions.
  20. I wrote an article specifically addressing this question. HERE you go
  21. It's funny but for stick baits in particular, brand or color are 2 of the things that don't mean much to me. I don't see the need to make sure it's a GYCB bait or to make sure it's watermelon or pumpkin in color. Granted, these are my favorite colors for our clear water but merthiolate works in there too RW- The floating Rapala,....now you're bringing back some memories!! This was the first bait I ever used that made me realize color wasn't such a big deal. For 2 years, it HAD to be the Perch color but when I ran out one day, I threw on the silver/black. I had one of my best Rapala days ever. So I tried gold/black. Same thing. Great day. I wasn't stuck on "Perch" any more. Sure, it's always best to try and match what is in a particular body of water but if you can't, this is no reason to stay home!!!!
  22. We offered him a job driving the big brown truck but the Teamster wages just weren't enough to suck him in,....oh well. ;D
