- Do you listen to music while you fish??
No way, my ears are 1 tool I won't sacrifice. For the folks that listen to music when fishing, do you also wear a blindfold? I understand that fishing can be different from 1 person to the next, some aren't out there with the same goal as myself. For many, It's just to relax. In this case, sure, bring your tunes, but if you are on a serious hunt, I suggest leaving the walkman at home. JMO Although,.....If we play the music WHILE we are fishing, the videos would be a lot easier to make,lol.- PLEASE PASS THE MOJO
Great idea Kelley!! It is in transit right now, and will be heading back to me after the next member has a chance to pack it with more mojo. I'll be sure to bring it to Fork. Still waiting to hear from Clay everyone.- 2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Bassinfreak- That is surely a drag, perhaps next year. Bummer ok folks, it looks like another original from the 1st annual is coming!!! Kelley, aka triton21, will be coming along this year. If any of you remember, Kelley made the long journy last year with boat in tow and his best friend Chuck at his side. Sadly, Chuck has passed on this year, and although he was not a member, he was certainly a friend of the board. I would like to commemorate this years trip to a few fallen friends of the board. Kelley's buddy Chuck George Lovins- a friend of basschaser57 (who was on the original trip) who's tackle was left to the youth on our board. May they rest in peace and know that we as fisherman will carry their spirit with us for "one last cast".- Location and theory
muddy, this happens in our back coves just after ice out. When the bass are running around in packs, the packs tend to all have the same size fish in them. The unique thing about our back cove is that they come in waves back there. The fist wave can be all 3-4 lbrs and the next wave could be all dinks. Fish of similar size school together.- Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Now that we are in the dead of winter, I just thught I'd see how everyone is doing here? I, fortunately, havn't seen a migraine for a long time and hope it stays that way. Avid is healing up nicely and actually got out on his High performance canoe for a trial run of that shoulder/elbow combo. How about Papa? Anyone heard from Paprock lately?- Location and theory
The honey holes on our lake have never let us down. Of course, the world was turned upside down when they lowered the place by about 1/2 to fix the dam one yr, but other than that, once it stabilized, the old spots became productive again and the newly made ones were added to the list. We did alot of "manipulating while the water was down, building walls, piles, etc. I think perhaps the pattern is changing moreso than the area for you. Like sometimes, there can be a flat associted w/ the point but it's out away from it,in the middle of the lake. They could have gone from the spot you know to the deeper water, to the flat, or somewhere in the corridor they use to get to all 3. Finding out where they went from there is a great piece of the puzzle to find. When they disappear, search long, hard and slow in the immedite areas perimeter. Eyes on the graph constantly. Bouys help. Dropping one each time something on the graph catches your eye can point out patterns when you look back on the big picture. Sometimes you'll notice a pattern in the bouys (straight line-roadbed or fenceline, squares/rectangles-foundations,etc) Just thinking out loud, sometimes a brainstorming effect can help. PS- My opinion is based on steady or "normal" weather patterns and water condition/level- Bigger Bass???
If I ever catch one, I'll let y'all know! lol In our lake, we catch what I am assuming are the larger (but maybe not the echelon) class and they are predictable to the point of where they are certain times of the year. There's ALOT of food in our lake, catching them is another story. We don't employ "MONSTERS ONLY" techniques so I guess my opinion is only worth so much here. I always assume ,however, that many times, the 5 or 6 pounder I am swinging around as I dance on the deck, may very well have just been pushed off her spot by an 8 that I might have met 4 or 5 yrs ago when she was a healthy 4 but may never see again. Who knows.- Let's go for a ride!
Well, I agree with the talent and physical beating they take but driving a stick is actually pretty easy. Those cars are not stick shift cars though, they have an electronic gear box, shifting is done with buttons on the wheel. Most of those cars have paddle shifters mounted on the steering shafts so the driver need only flick it with his fingers so he doesn't have to take his hand off the wheel. He still has to clutch the thing though. See that? I learn somthing every day! So how does the paddle work? It isn't a "mechanical" connection to like, the linkage is it? I always assumed it was all electronic, up shifting on one side, down on the other. The paddle makes alot of sense. Are F1 cars the same? This is originally the car I had in mind. * I know Cart7 would chirp in to correct any misconceptions and sure enough,....right on cue...- I'm a forum "newbie"

that can still be a thriving fishery. I bet there is some kind of weed, somewhere in there, find them and you will have struck gold!! Jigs are great around rocks. Use a crawdad trailer.- Can someone identify this species largemouth?
This is the "tongue", the hard plate, not to be confused with the lips which are sandpapered on all versions of LM.- Lake Tank
I'm not giving you a hard time, I'm just asking you to read up some more if you are going to keep one in captivity. Especially the releasing part of it. I know Texas law is different than RI law, that came up in one post, but here it is illegal to keep one in captivity and then release it. Believe it or not, they'd rather you harvest it and eat it than release it. There are also fish that are just as carnivorous as a bass that are farm raised to be pets. Most cichlids (oscars, etc), pacu's, dempseys, and so on. These fish are not designed to grow like a bass. All caretaking aside, for me it's an ethical standpoint. The potential size a bass can grow is also a big part of the 300 gallon comment. Those fish will max that tank out completely (will only grow big enough to still be able to turn around) very quickly. Now again, I'm not attacking, not even judging because I've been there. I've kept bass myself but a biologist from the Univ of Vermont had a good long talk with me and explained in laymans terms why states like RI don't allow the release of a previously captured fish that has been maintained in foreign water. Then there is the psychologicasl trauma too. Maybe it's just me but my Oscar is plenty entertaining when it comes to feeding time and I've been able to keep him almost 10 yrs now. I mean, we are kidding ourselves if you think you are going to "learn" anything about bass behavior by watching a few captured bass try to survive in a 55 gallon tank. JMO and more than enough of it. lol- Lake Tank
Because if this is the extent of your experience with transplanting fish from one body of water to another, you are greatly undereducated on the subject, which means this is somthing you know nothing about. Parasites and viruses aren't always visible to the naked eye, to assume so is irresponsible. Consult a marine biologist or even a game warden. Ask questions. At a minimum, dose your water with aquarisol, a few days before you release them. Please. Now, I can't force you to read past posts, laws or articles pertaining to this subject, so with that, I'm out of this one.- Lake Tank
Please refer to your state laws regarding releasing captive fish to wild water. Like I said, do a search and read a few of the posts that cover this. I'm not here to start a fight.- Lake Tank
Please research this more. There are quite a few threads here on the subject if you do a search.- What is an Ex-Member?
Nah, you're like the house pet, we'll keep ya till you go blind and your hips go out,lol.- Couple of 2007 Bass
Sweet, as usual.- Safe to assume?
Word of mouth is huge here. I personally have a guy that just does boat motors that will check out the motor for me and another guy that is a fabricator for Bluefin Yachts that will go through it structurally for me. I am with him this weekend, looking at putting a 2-3 cyl diesel in my whaler jet. That 2 stroke is just too undependable but the hull is one of a kind. First, my body guy is going to see how much mods we will need to incorporate a stuffing box and thru hull shaft, etc and then my engine guy will figure out exactly which motor and drive combo to go with. I'm saying that 1 boat, takes 2 professionals (and don't forget the 12 pack each as a tip). Some guys do it all, some are specialists. I wouldn't count on anyone other than these 2 guys to give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down, especially a dealership who is trying to sell the boat. Have your own people/person go thru the boat. And I'm going to beat Cart to it and give you 2 words of advice. Compression check GOOD LUCK!!!- Lake Tank
True. You need more fish in that tank! lol Seriously though, if you were providing them the diet they need, your water quality would be terrible within a few weeks. Nitrate levels would be through the roof. PH soon to follow. That water looks crystal which has me thinking they are starving. They need 2/3 their body weight per day. That's about 20-30 goldfish each. Although a very cool concept, keeping basss in captivity isn't a great idea unless your tank is a minmum of 300 gallons and you are prepared to feed him and maintain the tank properly. JMO - Do you listen to music while you fish??
