I need some Angler support please ;)
This is Mikes post. Mike, I am just afraid that you wont see the participation if folks have to sign up to reply so I am posting a copy of the thread here and they can reply here also. Fisherman and Fisherwomen, I had a trip with Jim Hakala the other day and he told me about his plan to put quite a few hydro glow lights on the bridge supports of Bethany Bridge at Red Top Mountain. He has his proposal written but wants to put the icing on the cake showing public support for this project. If this project is successful we would be like one of 2 in the US with this type of setup. What I would like to do is to have everyone that is in support of this project register on our site and post your support so Jim can print it out to add to his proposal. If you have questions PLEASE start another post on this forum. If you are not familiar with hydroglow lights they basically attract baitfish which in turn attracts game fish ie hybrids, stripes, spots, crappie, catfish etc etc. Here is there website for more information. Please feel free to post this link so that we can garner as much support as possible to insure that it gets funded.. www.hydroglow.com Here is a picture of one of the lakes with the hydroglow system setup. They lights are rigged to where they are very difficult to tamper with ie (theft proof).

Man Laws
Appendage to addendum -In which case, accept your knocks when they come. The father/brother team is in no way rsponsible for your physical state of being from the moment you commit. Rights to defend are forfeited, but most likely useless nonetheless.

Offshore Structure
The whole "voision oriented" theory explains why alot of folks are still stuck throwing at the bank. Everyone loves to skip a bait under a tree or land a floating rapala in a 12" wide indent in the weeds. But not only the chance to see your casting skills, This is also where we can see a bass relate to a rock or dock post, etc. We see a bass riding a small creek channel that meanders into shallow water or a bass cruising the edge of a weed line. These same things are happening out where you can't see them but it's the bigger fish relating to them. The are the higher seniority areas. This isn't saying that the big fish are never shallow, but for now, concentrate at where they are the majority of the time.

Nice JT! If post count is irrelevant for anyone, that would be me. I reply to lots of things as a mod that don't actually count as a post or contribution. Many are just business. Like Glenn. His post count is ALL business except for the one I happened to catch last night about Craw's smallmouth trip. Blew me away, lol. There are members here, as we all know, who may have but 200 posts but every one of them is packed with useful stuff. Post count is irrelevant!!!! But that doesn't mean we don't like the fact that JT has been family for over 1000 posts!!! Just means that 5000 posts doesn't qualify you for anything, and has nothing to do with what level you fish at.

Zoom Salty Super Flukes
I have found that much like a senko, color is pretty irrelevant with these. I have similar success regardless of color. Sometimes, I think some baits have such an irresistable action, that the action is driving the strike, regardless of color this is one of those baits (strictly my opinion folks) I always liked the Arkansas shiner color but last year, I used only colors I could plainly see for the entire retrieve and had alot more FUN with them, which is what it's all about right? Best way to fish it IMO is weightless but there are some pretty trick ways to use these. The double-fluke rig comes to mind. FYI- the strike king version (called the zero?) is made of 3x plastic and lasts MUCH longer before tearing at the nose. A drop of super glue on the nose and you can go all day on 2 or 3 baits. Certainly not knocking the yum product, love those too, the 3x just last longer. Same animal essentially but the 3x is more bouyant and doesn't sink like a yum. Sometimes this is good, sometimes bad, adjust to what you are trying to accomplish.

Offshore Structure
All great info here. I think RW's original point however was not about primary or secondary points, you gotta read between the lines,....he's saying. Stop throwing at the bank if you want better size fish. Go deeper, get out on the main lake body and find the structures.

Fly fishing - n00b question
Also try and give that old line a stretch. I have fly lines that are going on 8yrs old this season, used only in saltwater. Letting a good bit of line out(more than you can cast), and achoring the free end, give it a slow, steady stretch. Takes alot of the memory out, or at least the major stuff. If your line has deteriorated beyond use, you'll find out now, before you are on the water.

eels for bait
We use eels in saltwater for a few different species, Striper, bluefish, tuna, etc but I've never tried one on a bass. Tip- Have a towel ready to handle your eel. The slime coat makes them very difficult to manage without a rag or towel to grip it with. Ice your eels. A little ice in your bucket will calm them down quite a bit, eliminating alot of the squirming and knotting while you are trying to rig it.

B.A.S.S. Youth
I had the good fortune to meet the director of the RI Youth team, he is also a member here now, if you have any specific questions, PM "stratosdadri". He has the RI program running very well. The kids get a ton out of it. They don't just do tournaments, they do community activities like helping at CAST events, and a yearly camping trip that the kids TOTALLY look forward to. Great program. There are quite a few youth here that also participate in the program, as a matter of fact, "Ben" in going to the classic to represent his state. I'm sure he can answer any of your specific questions also.
