2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
"Tackle" can be had at many places but "bait" is a tough one. It did get to this point last year. Understand, we were dealing with a major front and the fish were very tricky. Kevin came in from fishing with a local who had a bunch of water dogs and they had slayed them. we were like "we paid good money to be here catchin' fish,......which way to the waterdogs, lol" I'll never let my pride get in the way of catchin'! lol

Ok, If you know you are committing to this trip, please PM me with your full name and a phone number. Preferably the cell # you will have with you at Fork. I am going to start compiling a list of attendees and numbers to pass out when we get there. Also include where you will be staying. Mods-you are all set, got yours already.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Keith, that's where Kevin got the waterdogs, we went up there that afternoon and the woman told us they havn't sold then in almost 2 yrs now. They were getting harrassed by locals who are dead sure that the virus was caused by dirty bait!! What a drag! Can you get a name of the place so we can cross reference our data? I could be wrong but the directions you gave sound dead on!.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Riskkid- #1, first and formost. DON'T HIRE GUIDE RITCHIE WHITE!!!! He is only capable of fishing for bedding fish, if they move off the beds due to weather, you are SOL. He is not capable of putting clients on fish any other way but won't tell you that beforehand. Well,..I did. Reservations-Guides go first, then boats, then rooms. I would book ASAP. I am calling fishermans cove Marina as soon as they open today and I'm going to ask for a group discount. The place has like 20-30 rooms,..I can see us seriously taxing that number. Would be nice to get as many of us in the same place as possible. Info will be up by noon (EST). I learned also that 300lbs of tackle is not needed. This time I will bring 1 small box and 3 rods, not everything I own. I learned that "cream" isn't offered for your coffee in Fork, just milk. I will have coffee/crea/etc in my room this time. Bringing expresso machine, lol. Makes the meanest cup of Jo ever!. The only live bait available are pinhead shiners for crappie and waterdogs for bass. I learned that grits and gravy is gross.lol I learned Matt_Fly makes a meeeeean brisket and will fish till he falls asleep or till someone drags him up on shore. Seriously. I learned that all the people that showed up from different states and different backrounds all get along great and make for a very cool trip. This one is going to be off the map! We have been discussing this in the mod section and I can tell you this. The BR staff is extremely pumped for this occassion. Can't wait!

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Many of us will have cell phones. Appx twice a day, I'll make a lap around the pond and collect the sharelunkers and bring to a BR holding tank. We can have DNR meet us there with the truck each night before or after dinner and let them empty it so we will have room for the next day. In order to save on office supplies(paper), each angler will recieve 1 award at the end of the week with the weights of all entered sharelunkers instead of 1 certificate per fish.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
we make all our own reservations. At least last year we did. I will be at Fishermans cove marina. This is where we stayed last year and were very pleased. Basschaser57 and a few others also chose to stay there. Lake fork marina is another one. Art Stayed there because they were the only ones with rooms left last minute. More expensive, less amenities. Still, another option. Lots of options in the area, but these 2 are lakeside. We booked by late Nov and many things were getting filled up. More so than the rooms will be the guides. They book up quickly.

Does color matter??
My boat is fire engine red. Doesn't seem to bother them.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Just a trip.

How long do you wait
double digit heavy! Personally, the "meet point" time is set so we can be a specific place at a specific time.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Just talked to Rick at the rental place. For a single day, it's $97.50. Gets progressively cheaper as days go on. For a 5 day rental it's $87/day.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
We may have to book the entire place at Fishermans cove marina!!! Oh,..BTW- that's where we stayed last year, I HIGHLY reccommend it. Simple, clean, newly renovated rooms, lounge/sports bar-restaurant, lit-covered docks w/ elec. ($7-day). Rooms were $60 a night with 2 big beds, bath, micro, fridge, coffee pot,etc.. Eric, darrin and I all shared a room no problem. Boat rentals from "Ricky's rentals" were reasonably priced, and in good working order. They are a bit underpowered for the lake. Express 16 and 17's with 40hp engines. Here are a few pics from last years trip This is a shot of one of the rooms, not a great pic but... Couple pics of the rental boats Matt_Fly(Matt), Hawg_Hunter(Darrin) and Willy Dirk_Jig-Lure(Eric) and Art Pasley The lake

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Keith, this is the same week we went last year. Place was empty. Was Awesome other than the drastic cold front and 3 inches of rain 2 days before we arrived . As far as crowds, 27,000 acres,.....show up on a sunday when the weekend anglers are leaving and the place is all yours for the week. We honestly were fishing coves that we had all to ourselves. Like I said, aside from that major cold front that sat on us till the last day, the place was awesome. Cheap too. I did the whole trip for less than 1k, flying from New England and this time it will be even cheaper after all the things we learned the 1st time. I think you and Mr. Welcome should team up and drag a boat west!!!

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
OK, taking suggestions for the 2nd annual trip. I have a strong feeling that Lake Fork will be the scene of our antics again. It's just a great place to visit. There is food nearby, a few bars, and hotels where your boat is right outside your door. This trip will be held the 3rd week in March. I plan to fly out the 18th and fly back on the 23rd. Last year the weather didn't cooperate and although HH stole the day wityh an 8 lbr, we all still have somthing to prove to that lake. IT OWES US!! lol. Fork is a good choice also because many members can travel to Fork from where they live. Still willing to take other suggestions however. So far, I have interest from Myself Dirk_Jig-Lure Glenn + Keri Hawg_Hunter Let's get this list going folks! 21 people last year, we can do better than that this yr I'm sure!!
