  2. You guys are thinking too small. check this out
  3. Thanks folks! Nick, way to get involved buddy, was this through your club?
  4. Jigs. rock bottoms with grass nearby. I'm limited in my fall patterns however, I never got past his one. If it ain't broke, lol. I should probably try a few of these suggestions in the next few weeks, It's just tough to break away from what you know sometimes. One slight variance I noticed this year was that in early fall, they have seemed to prefer a horizontal presentation. Not my forte but my partner has shown consistent results throwing a super fluke and speed fishing a husky jerk with alot of rod snapping and extremely brief pauses. I like to stick with what I know but he likes to catch on all different stuff. Good match when we are teamed up.
  5. 150 lb Tarpon you can see with your eyes, all around the boat. 10 wt fly rod, everglades. Mangroves. Sunset. Best friend. Camera.
  6. I recieved a call last night from Jim Owens, the president and creator of CAST for Kids. Jim will be flying to RI in a few weeks to meet me and talk over some details concerning me coming on board with the CAST team. The country gets split into 2 regions right now. Jim does the west 1/2 and Art Pasley does the East 1/2. Well, due to the increasing interest in CAST and a bulging event schedule, Jim has asked me to come on board as the Eastern Region Coordinator. For now, I will be looking at the event schedule and taking some of the eastern events off of Arts plate. I don't plan on leaving UPS but when we bid for job positions in April, I will be looking to change. I will no longer be a driver, I will probably go back inside and work as a trainer for the new kids coming into the bulding to work the night shifts. This will free up more time during the day for me to concentrate on CAST. I will be working from 4a-11a most likely, If I get the bid I want (goes by seniority) So there will also be additional time for extra fishing. I will be taking a pay cut but money ain't everything. Quality of life and the desire to be a larger part of the CAST family, are the driving forces here. So, I just wanted to share the news with you guys, I'm very excited and honored to have been asked. Together, we'ren gonna make CAST a common, household name in the fishing industry. please visit www.castforkids.org
  7. Honestly, the mook sure is steppin' up!! Between hooking these two up, he's PASSED a his writing course and is hosting a CAST event. That's what I'm talkin' about, he don't just type the hype!!! MUDDY MAN YOU DO ROCK!!
  8. Well, it doesn't really work like that. CAST doesn't choose event locations. Hosts step up and decide to hold an event in their hometown and then they contact CAST for assistance. CAST provides the program, you provide the place. For years, they were only out west. It started in Washington and it just kinda grew on it's own and spread east. These are the events being held this year on the eastern 1/2 of the country Austin, TX Lake Bastrop Killeen, TX Lake Belton Fulton, MS Tenn-Tom Waterway Aledo, TX Eagle Mountain San Antonio, TX Lake Calaveras El Dorado, KS El Dorado Lake Monroe City, MO Mark Twain Reservoir Bismarck, ND Jamestown Reservoir Rapid City, SD Sheridan Lake Westwood, KS Shawnee Mission Park Lake Norman, OK Lake Thunderbird Providence, RI Roger Williams Park Jasper, TX Lake Sam Rayburn Gladewater, TX Lake Gladewater Lorton, VA Pohick Bay Park Sept. 30th T or C, NM Elephant Butte Oct. 7th Montgomery, TX Lake Conroe Oct. 14th For more info, visit www.castforkids.org
  9. JIGS!!! Best way to learn that bottom as RW suggested. Once you know it, bring on the plastics to see who lives there. Remember that you may very well be fishing a lake with no big fish in it. RW will tell you a thousand times,...the number 1 tip to catching larger fish is to fish lakes that you know hold these larger class fish. Ya ain't gonna catch 'em if they ain't there. Good luck, keep us posted.
  10. Enjoyed it is an understatement,...I'm still not sure who had more fun!!
  11. Bob- Take down my email. castforkidsnortheast@gmail.com If you are interested, let me know, it would be real easy with me so close to you. I can help tons!!! Just say the word and I'll walk you through an event from day 1 to event day. Just give the word. Connecticut is probably one of the most scenicly beautiful states around. Lots of history, an event there would be somthing special for all involved, I can promise you that.
  12. **Click on reporters face** PLUS The LBH music video for this event is HERE Use "F9" for FULL SCREEN
  13. yup,.good point. That's about a 1200 gal tank you'll need,lol
  14. Yea,...that's what I meant, lol. Lateral line has nothing to do with coloration. These are groups of nerve endings in a row, nothing more.
  15. yes,...and yes,...but the most effective tool a bass uses to find food is it's "lateral line". In fish, the lateral line is a sense organ used to detect movement and vibration in the surrounding water. Lateral lines are usually visible as faint lines running lengthwise down each side, from the vicinity of the gill covers to the base of the tail. Sometimes parts of the lateral organ are modified into electroreceptors, organs used to detect electrical impulses. It is possible that vertebrates such as sharks can use these organs to detect magnetic fields as well. Most amphibian larvae and some adults still have a lateral organ. The receptors in the line, known as neuromasts, each consist of a group of hair cells, whose hairs are surrounded by a protruding jelly-like cupula, typically 1/10 to 1/5 mm long. The neuromasts are usually at the bottom of a pit or groove, which is large enough to be visible. Teleosts and elasmobranchs usually have lateral-line canals, in which the neuromasts are not directly exposed to the environment, but communicate with it via canal pores. Additional neuromasts may appear individually at various locations on the body surface. The hair cells in the lateral line are similar to the hair cells inside the vertebrate inner ear, indicating that the lateral line and the inner ear share a common origin. The development of the lateral-line system depends on the fish's mode of life. For instance, active swimming types tend to have more neuromasts in canals than on the surface, and the line will be further away from pectoral fins, presumably to reduce the "noise" generated by fin motion. Uses of the lateral-line system include collision avoidance, orientation relative to water currents, and predation. For instance, blind cavefish have rows of neuromasts on their heads, which could be used precisely to locate food without the use of sight, and killifish can sense ripples caused by insects struggling on the surface of the water. Experiments with pollack have shown that the lateral line is also a key enabler for schooling behavior.
  16. To me, any water temp below 45 is winter.
  17. well, in short, they don't "live" in one place. They will frequent certain areas at certain times for certain reasons and the appropriately located dock can certainly be one of them. There are a few reasons why a bass uses a dock but the main one would be for shade/cover.
  18. Plus,...the weighted chum bag full of perch cuttings and crushed crayfish that he's jigging next to attracts 'em plenty. :-? He stuffs the fat Ika right in the bag and lowers the whole thing down to the bottom. wait 23 minutes ( 3 cigs and 2 cold ones) and then "POP" that thing out of the bag with a swift snap of the rod straight up and then buckle the seatbelt. Secrets out.

  21. A 10 is light enough to fully lift alone so you're fine. Load it stern against the cab w/bow sticking out. Most secure position. Put motor in middle section, on floor. Unload it, get it in the water and then attach motors and load with gear. Have fun
  22. LMAO................... I originally came up with that a few days before the senko/fluke tourny. Ryan stays up nights with so much going through his head,...it's crazy. Thinks himself into a hole worrying about all the other anglers. "Randall this...", "doghouse that..." I told him,..forget about them,...forget about everything and do what you love,..JUST GO FISH! So I told him I want to have a shirt made, which,..now it looks like I'll have to have 2 made,...that say.. front: DON'T THINK back JUST FISH so, of couse, when they won, and CJ asked me to spread the mojo w/ a tourny day phone call, I also shared this piece of info. Granted,..you need a game plan,...but it will always be you against the fish and it will be the other guy against his fish. It's who does a better job beating the fish that wins. Don't worry about each other,..go fishin'! Otherwise, the only person you beat is yourself! ************************************************* Chris- can't say it enough,..glad to have you back.
  23. classic patterns-Kelley Jordan Great swimbait action off one of the sunken bridges of Fork.
