  1. Well, being a UPS driver,...I live by this one. As flechero said, a phone call will hold me 10 mins, other than that, if you are going to be late and didn't have the courtesy to call, you will pull up to a missing boat and host. Fortunately, I have very timely partners.
  2. I was getting gas a few weeks ago and a young guy asked me if I was a mod on a fishing forum. (had boat on back w/LBH name down the side) I tried to talk him into signing up, said he was going to but no sign yet. He surfs here as a guest. Pretty cool though, especially in a state as small as RI.
  3. If you are in an area like New England where fall is in full swing with temps rapidly dropping, etc, I suggest going midday. Water temps are peaking mid afternoon this time of year.
  4. my list is too long but I'm right there with ya buddy.
  5. Awww man,..I'M JEALOUS!! It's been weeks since I've met up with any forum members. :-[
  6. Frost in RI, last 2 mornings
  7. Stern corners are a big concern with that size boat. If you happen to put weight on 1 corner, it submarines and the boat is under. Been there, done it. Twice. Be sure to keep weight "centered" in the boat. LOOKS GREAT!! Might I suggest, for $50, to have boat lettering done for the side instead of just stripes. really personalizes the craft and makes it look a step above.
  8. I'm assuming you checked all your state laws pertaing to fish transport, re-location, etc. Hefty fines involved there and for good reason. To achieve a balanced fishery, many studies have to be done to determine food supply, oxygen levels, etc. It's not somthing you should be doing over the weekends. Serious biological study needs to be done. Transferrence of parasites and viruses are the main concerns here. In 2 yrs, you could have a dead pond in your backyartd. RESEARCH!! Good luck. Which tags exactly are you using. I have searched high and low and can only find them from commercial fishery supply stores and they aren't cheap. $100 for the first number run to 100. How much are the ones you are using? How much is the gun? How many tags do you get?
  9. I just put up a post about yesterday commenting on just this. We did have a great bite right at sunrise but it stayed with us. Today we are going at 1pm. Peak heat and the wind will be shifting from NE (last 2 days)to SE around noon. Could go either way, I'll fill you in tonight.
  10. WA1971-You have a PM. See up top where it says Hey, womanangler1971, you have 1 message, 1 is new. click on the word "messages"
  11. Our deepest spot is also 35 ft but it is all clay down there. The larger fish have always been caught "relating" to the depth but not actually down in the bowl until we added structure a few yrs ago. More is needed but you get the drift. They WANT to be using the deepest part but it has to offer more than just depth.
  12. Welcome Aboard womanangler!! Be sure to check out the plentitude of specialized articles in the toolbar above. Chris also has some writings in there.
  13. Nov-Dec snow showers. Funny to see the looks on the residents faces as they peer out from their cozy living rooms, giving us the thumbs up and shaking their heads. The gods always seem to reward endurance.
  14. Hey, just noticed this thread, not a big sports watcher,...this is about baseball, right? :
  15. Just fix it right the first time, not that hard. I had a 16 ft mod-v and it had over 50 leaks. *Get a crayon (yellow is good) *Put boat on saw horses and start to fill it with water. *Get underneath and circle every leaking rivet. *Drill those rivets out. -------------------------------------- *From the bottom, insert a stainless 1/2 in tapered head bolt. A dab of 5200 on the threads on the inside, then add washer and nut. Floors are required now because of the bolts sticking up but every jon should have them anyway.
  16. I fit in here somewhere close to RW. I now buy in bulk. We've figured out our lake pretty well over the years and although my partner still insists on catching on a number of things, I've narrowed it down to the 4 or 5 things that I know work. Don't get me wrong, I, as I am sure RW has, have taken the time through the years to get proficient on many different baits, styles and presentations. I have found that only a handful of these give you the opportunity for BIG BASS. This topic ,however, applies to "tournament" angling, somthing I'm really not into anymore . I'm hunting big bass now and although many of the baits/lures used in the past are great for achieving a limit of 5, a limit isn't my goal. I agree with Avid also that as versatile as many pros may be, I'm sure many go back to the 2 or 3 confidence presentations they have when things get tough.
  17. I'll second that one. A well mannered, friendly, southern gent. Always a pleasure.
  18. Getting a degree is always a good idea but if you are only getting it to help your career in pro fishing, I would spend my time doing somthing much more pertinent to your goal,...............winning tournaments. Not just fishing in them, winning them. Without a record (a good one,no less), some history on the circuit, the need to market or promote anything won't exist. Worry about getting a boat first. This would be my main goal if I were you. All the talk of tournament angling, promotions, sponsorships, the etc, is just a pipedream until you can start spending real time on the water till you're good enough to start making the state team with consistency. At this point, I would start mixing school into the program as you start to build a package to deliver to potential sponsors. IMHO, if you're still fishing primarily from shore, this could be a few years away still. You need to start learning the full range of what's out there and this can't be done from the bank. Good Luck!!
  19. Raul- That would be a perfect hull to mold from! Make/model?
  20. I think it's an "angler" thing. Sure, the southern states have a much longer growing season but that doesn't stop a northern lake from handing you one of the best days of your lives. It's what you take from the experience, as opposed to WHERE you experienced it, that means the most to me. Great experiences can happen anywhere you toss a line.
  21. line class record pike. Was bass fishing.
  22. Great Job!! This post answers alot for folks.
  23. WAIT!!!! The one thing I regret about my boat was the bed liner bottom! A. added lots of weight B. Didn't last at all. Peeled in many places. C. Added TONS of drag on the boat. Much slower speeds out of T/M. D. I suggest doing it on the INSIDE as a sealer if anything. IF anything. JMO and experiences. I used a herculiner kit. Also. Be careful decking it. I have done a few 12's with the decks ON TOP of the bench seats. It's like standing on a roller skate on ice. Careful. The current 12 I have has been by far the best set-up for us as far as efficiency of space, stability, fish fightabillity, etc and that's an extra wide, extra deep, extra stable jon boat. HERE is the original link to my project if you'd like to reference materials, etc. TAKE PICTURES ALONG THE WAY (to help others who attempt projects later) Can't wait to see her come along!
