Great point! C.A.S.T. for kids started way out west and has slowly spread to the mid-country states. The south is getting great coverage but there were no events planned for New England at all. We have some great kids up here that really deserve the opportunity that the CFK foundation provides. If you live in the south, there are numerous events you could participate in and there is always room for another event in your hometown. Bring a friend or family member or even your whole club! Anyone got one? They're free! The coast guard auxillary hosts free safety inspections a few times a year, just give your local office a call and they will tell you the dates and locations. They are usually at ramps. You get a sticker if you pass and it's like having a "FOP" badge on your license plate,lol. Also, they can point out somthing you may have overseen. Like I said, IT"S FREE, and it could save your life!

Quite a few guys up here use suzuki for their saltwater boats. The guys I'm thinking of are clam diggers and THeir transoms are usually a good place to look if you want to see somthing that gonna last.

Please heed that advice! a 14 ft jon is no place for saltwater, I used to mess around tight inshore in a 16 tapered v and even that put me in a pinch often enough to not use it in salt anymore. Flat bottom aluminum boats have no place in saltwater.

All I can say is make sure they are manual. My buddy has a boat with "pushbutton-pop-up" locker doors. Pure crap, The springs wore out quickly and now you need to get somthing under the lip of the door to lift it.

Anyone make money fishing this year? We won enough to pay for all of next years entry fees (avg $175/event) with $60ea leftover. Very successful for the type of fishing we do. I didn't post this in "tournament talk" because I am also curious of other ways people earned money fishing. Guides-good year? Bad? Researchers and tackle affilliated folk- get paid for anything up n coming? Reel and reel maintenence/builders- good year? bad? etc

I know a few of the guys on the board are vets that have sustained injury but never let it stop them from fishing. First off, thanks for fighting and kudos for still fishing. My question is this: I'm running a C.A.S.T. for kids event next Sept and I'm just trying to iron out anything that might be a problem on game day. Could you guys give any suggestions or warnings of things that might come up for some of the more physically disabled kids? I know this is very broad but I just wondered if there were any challenges you faced coming back to fishing that really stand out?

Are spots so different from LM that a different game plan would be called for? We don't have them around me and I always assumed they were just like a different strain of LM

Awesome,..now we have 2, knowledge packed, detail-oriented ,"should-be" 'writers with more knowledge than a book .......and me,lol I don't claim to have the knowledge anywhere near Chris and RW but I am dedicated to this site and I do have a passion to share fishing with everyone around me!
