  1. I don't even want to think about towing a boat with it.......ugh. Luckily, everything in RI is relatively close.
  2. Indeed Joe, same here, but it seems that although a tragic day, it was one of many brave moments UPDATE: Turns out, the 8 yr old boy was swept off first, the 14 yr old girl/neighbor/friend went in after him and saved him. She had him on her back when the step dad reached them. The kayakers got to the group of them and got her CPR on the beach. She is in critical condition still, unconscious and will most likely have brain damage at a minimum. The state is praying hard for our hero, if you have a second, hop on the bandwagon. Thanks.
  3. Cool Fireworks and Zona,....that a good idea? ;D?
  4. Hence my screen name Y'all KNOW you'll never see me spend $80 on a bait unless it's cooking dinner ......................................and breakfast I have my buddy looking into making them in his factory, we need one to copy, I'm thinking the BBZ. Please, no "knock off" tangents, they wont be for sale. He's a saltwater striper fisherman, I showed him the BBZ video and he's hooked, just looking to save dough. Spending the $40 for 1 to copy is gonna kill me as it is,...so not Low Budget.
  5. My truck came with the same feature but it seems someone programed the target destination to be any and all gas pumps : How big is the pack going to Fork?
  6. It's a shampoo, not an ointment :-[ steamed w/ some old bay?
  7. Excellent guys. I ask because guess what,.....I'm a believer now,lol I had to go down to Cape Cod yesterday to meet the host of the Mass CAST event in Aug. He wanted to show me the facility/lake and guess what,....these are all he throws. So we started on a wind blown bank,....I declined the offer of one of his rods and threw my trusty jig. About 20 minutes in, he is bringing the bait by me (rear of boat) and, right at the boat, two 5-6 lb fish bounced off each other right behind it. 20 minutes later, he has a nice 6.5 on. Gimme that other rod please. Stayed true, threw it about 2 hrs with 2 rolls on it (His was a bbz-1 mine was a jackall) then I got mine. 3.5 lbs BUT,....what a hit. I'm sold. Dirk asked me to go today, I couldn't,.....I don't have a BBZ-1 yet, lol. Heading to the shop here in Seekonk mass, Bills, going to grab one, he has them in stock. Report to follow I hope. Thanks again guys, keep the replies coming, looking to learn a bit here.
  8. Love your attitude It's nice to hear back on how the forum has affected folks. As for the above mentioned members, you guys are Alllllllright!!!
  9. Out of the big stuff,( the hudds, the BBZ's, the wake bait and jr's,ms slammers, etc) style baits, which is your number 1 "go to", and how do you fish it. Explain why it stands apart as number one.(for you) Thanks
  10. They say TV adds 10 lbs,.....any chance HDTV adds 20-30? ;D Great news Mike
  11. What features do you look for in a swimbait reel. Why the wide spool? Longer casts? come off the spool easier? scenario- why would my calcutta 201 not be good enough on a 7' 6" H rod, to throw something like a BBZ-1?
  12. Become a CAST host Let's talk. PM me for my # if interested.
  13. Carl, throw THIS in your arsenal.
  14. Careful near the edge Falcon,...took me awhile to get used to it,.... ;D
  15. Kids playing on the sand bar called Conimicut Point, were swept of the bar and into a strong rip tide yesterday afternoon. Local surf casters contacted authorities and took kayaks from nearby lawn and rescued 3 of the youth, 1 unconscious. CPR at the beach later revived her. The other kids were rescued by local bluefish/striper boat captain on the bay for the day. Anglers had all rescued before authorities could arrive. The cool part is that if you saw these guys in a store or something, you'd pick the next aisle, tough, scruffy looking dudes,.....with big hearts and selfless courage (the Conimicut rip is no place for a kayak when the rip is strong). Don't judge a book by it's cover!! Way to go guys!
  16. no way,lol...this was 14' with 2' of drilla, the rod was sitting on top of the weed bed. I would have just said bye-bye before diving through 10' of hydrilla, I'm no wimp, it's a safety issue, getting tangled and drowning was not on the agenda for the day,lol I mean,..it WAS supposed to be a safety video ;D
  17. Didn't stop Ike,...quit whining, make the best with what you got! We have a few Jersey guys here that do pretty well,........ remember,...more often than not, it's the driver, not the car or the track Also, if you LEARN to fish where it's tough, it gives you a great advantage when you fish better water. I learned to ski in the east, when I moved out west where the skiing/snow is much more forgiving, I was far ahead of others who started the same time I did, but out west. I learned on eastern ice. same idea,....I learned my job at UPS during x-mas,...the rest of the year was cake. learning in less than ideal conditions builds diversity and character.
  18. Nothing personal, but it is often the driver, not the car in these situations Had your drag been set properly, you could have had a banner fight on your hands. I use 6,8 and 10 exclusively, very clear water, lots of finesse fishing. Adjust your drag properly and you should NEVER have your line snap. If anything, you won't be able to "turn" the head of a bigger fish but if you're in a boat, you can always chase 'em down Also, check your line for chaffing,...often. Re-tie,...often ps- I have a 6 lb line class record, 16.6 lb northern, no leader Light line angling,........It CAN be done, it's just a slightly fairer fight. pss- you gotta lose a few to learn sometimes, keeps us coming back for more
  19. no, the majority of deaths come from 1 common factor, regardless of how they got there, the deaths come from people ending up in the water, WITHOUT FLOTATION!! Being unconscious is only 1 of many ways to die. What if you are fully conscious but too far from shore to swim,....boat is long gone,...now what? How long can you tread water? Not worth it dude, if you love your family, don't risk putting them through your burial.
  20. 100% for me. If you look at the design of a trick stick, it is cigar shaped. The tapered ends make a shimmy kind of wiggle when it is presented vertically (wacky) When wacky'd, BOTH ends wiggle and it has a slow, STEADY vertical fall. IMO, this is the way the bait was designed to be fished, getting the MAX wiggle out of it. Not saying t-rigging doesn't work, sure does, but wacky rigging maximizes the baits potential.
  21. The scent of blood..... Hey, there's a thought, we have craw, anise, garlic,....no "blood" scent? ......hmmmm David,....you could have something there...
  22. I wonder if adding a couple cats would help with the keeping it clean, being a bottom feeder, but they will hit bass lures so I wonder if they would be considered competition. Maybe a carp or 2? Mr Lusk? Fluke? Any enlightenment?
  23. CONGRATS POPEYE!!!!! Retirement,....how's THAT feel??
  24. Man, do I hear your pain!!! I just took a new job position at UPS, less money, no overtime,a few less hours, all in the same month that I traded my 4cyl jetta in for a 4runner,lol. So now, I'm out of work by 11a every day but can only swing the gas to get to the lake 3-4 days/week (weekends included) so instead of fishing 6-7 days like I'm available to, I am fishing 3-5 days. Now that I write it out, maybe I shouldn't complain but sitting at home when you are available to be at the lake still sucks, even if you'll be there tomorrow.
  25. He's here, Mike just posted again the other night.
