  1. stuck on 4's,.....well, CRY ME A RIVER! ;D
  2. Cool! Thing about RI though is that we hve no 4lb Pike anymore. That was probably a huge pickerel, yup,..even at Wordens. Christine Dudley (D.E.M- Great Swamp) educated me last year regarding the whole Pike scenario in RI. Years ago, RI bought milk and egg from Canada. We put money aside to raise these at the bass hatchery. They took the fingerlings and put them in Burlingame (the small one in Glocester, not the big one in Charlestown) This pond was made for this purpose, it is a 2 ft deep rectangle. They raised them there till they hit between 12-14" and then they use a sweep net to remove them. They were placed in the 6 Pike waters of RI, Worden's, Echo, Stump, Johnsons, etc. Now many of these Pike made it out of those bodies through the river and stream systems. I have a 16.6 mounted (IGFA line class record) from a puddle called "Breezy lake" in Coventry (a run-off from Johnsons) So, now we have Pike in these waters and guess what,...they are growing!! Awesome,...but now the bad news,...they are not reproducing. So after 3 more yrs of observation and stocking, they realized that this was just the way it was so the entire program was dropped. So the big Pike (like mine) being caught inthe last few yrs , are the last of the stocked fish. With no reproduction, I would assume that was a huge, 4lb Pickerel. If you know for sure that it was a Pike (checked the mandibular pores or checked for scaling on the lower gill plate) than please let me know and by all means, keep the next one. I am in constant contact with the 2 biologists at URI that DEM works closely with and I'm sure they would flip if I brought them a 4 lb Pike from RI water. These guys are great, they will also follow up with me regarding what they found. we worked closely regarding the "oatmeal" stuff that was on the winter-over stripers coming from the power plant water in Providence. Turned out to be a natural form of "Ick", nothing viral but they appreciate having grass roots anglers helping out, being their extra set of eyes and ears. Sorry for the hi-jack, I just thought that being RI'er, you might find this interesting. (ps- there is a tutorial in the FAQ's regarding posting multiple pics. Built it myself, very easy to follow )
  3. My 12 is designed for maximum neatness (removing clutter from floor) We still just lay the rods on the gunnel or bench seats. During transport, they go in the car or truck. I'm looking into buying a truck this week. I plan to mount 8 rod holders at 90 degree angles, along the base of the bed where it meets the cab. This is how we carried the saltwater Tuna rods in my buddy's truck. It keeps them separated, safe and it looks pretty cool too. Pics to follow when I finally get the new truck.
  4. Arthur-PM or email (lowbudgethookers@gmail.com) me with the screenname you want to use. If it is YOU that has the name you want, I will be able to see that and modify it slightly so the name will work again. Either way, we'll get it worked out. Moving this to "everything else" for now

    Welcome Aboard Bin!! Nice Calico!
  6. Lake X makes it easier to learn the spawn. With such clear water, observation is readily available. This yr, we are going to back off the obvious and spend some good time looking for the ones you can't see, the deeper, bigger breeders. (at least that's the plan, lol, it can be tough with hundreds of catchable fish in plain sight)
  7. When you have the discipline to throw one bait for hours with hopes of that one big bite. Personally, I don't have that kind of discipline.
  8. aaaaaaaand back on topic all.
  9. Wal-Mart has a variety to choose from
  10. Not which ones you want, hate, broke, love, need, had, etc....which, if any of the above, do you own and use right now, presently. You can vote for more than one Visitors are allowed to vote Thanks
  11. Thanks I use 1 gig cards. $15-20 each
  12. I'm going to let this one run as an example for future posts of the like. Stick around awhile LFB, Bizz is a patient guy and forgiving guy, he'll be ready when you are Research a members history before serving yourself some crow folks.
  13. Atta boy Matty Great report too!! kudos to Rick,........ little boats, big fish, Top notch fishing partners,...welcome to RI
  14. suggestions in thread below http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1208001922
  15. That one WAS fun because I had 6 lb line and a med action 6ft freshwater rod so we had to fight it like a Tuna, off the bow, letting her take the line (with her weight) and then chase her down again. Repeatedly. but in general,I find these fish to be rather lazy. A couple good head shakes once you set on her and then that's it. When pulling them from deeper water, with wire line, it's even less.
  16. I stopped eating in '87,....still catching up Bought a space heater this yr for $40, made my elec bill go up $20/month but cut me from the heating system in my house that was running me $200/mo Avoid the Yamamoto and Lucky Craft priced brand names, I ain't buyin' into all that... Buy cups and lids and make your coffee (for the road) at home (couldn't seem to get a decent cup anywhere else anyway) Marry rich Fish elec only lakes (no boat or gas bill) Buy a 4 cyl car Fired the maid, being in a studio apartment,...,,I really didn't need her, I just kinda liked the uniform....... Currently using Ande backwater blue for line recycle used plastics Buy in bulk!! (available at ***) SPF 50 is cheaper than Cancer
  17. Oh wait,....I carried the 1 twice,.....didn't add the denominator,.........yup, Illini,........you stink again ;D ;D (Just kiddin of course)
  18. As little as it takes. I'm one of those crazy "common sense" anglers ;D I have no need to impress other fishermen with my gear and quite frankly, the fish don't care so.....
  19. Beaver craw from ***, the huge one-4.25",... hot bait. Eric hit a 5.7 on one yesterday. I'll have one on today, whatever color is on top.
  20. Very nice,...and totally necessary if you EVER want to catch a fish! ;D
  21. That's the kind of thing my dad would come up with. When he asked a question, you never knew where it would lead but you sure learned something by the time it was answered. Funny stuff.
  22. Oh,...don't get me wrong,..not judging, no way,..I've done far worse. My point is, it was wrong, suck it up, don't blame those responsible for enforcing the laws.
  23. I just did some math,.....it seems, last year, it took an avg of 19 days on the water to make 1 video, lol. That's 126 hours of fishing for 3 minutes of results. Another reason I hated math
