  1. Paca craws make the best jig trailers. I've also caught fish on em texas rigged on a 1/0 hook believe it or not.
  2. Yep, I work at Lake Fairfax and heard about this a few weeks ago. It's only weekends and holidays though, so not too bad for those of us who don't live in the real world yet.
  3. Ha, took the words right outta my mouth. Fishing hasn't been that bad for me, I've fished local ponds around my area, and then here at school my buddies and I hit up a Potomac river spot and my roommate caught a 3 lb smallie, and I pulled out a 2 lb lmb from the same spot... maybe micro is just havin some bad luck.
  4. That thing is a straight Bush Panda! Mark Zona quote... sorry I had to.
  5. I thought it was a little too early to be throwing a buzzbait, but you proved me wrong. Good fish!
  6. I've been fishing my whole life, but just in the last year or so I've started to use different types of tackle just other than a pre-texas-rigged worm from walmart haha. My biggest last year was a 4.5 lb out of a local lake, and a ton of 2-3 lbers around the area. I learned how to use a baitcast in the past couple of months and hopefully I slay em with it.
  7. They told me I will choose where I want to be stationed while im in AIT. I will get 5 choices and they will pick one. I am going to basic in Fort Leanard Wood in Missouri, and AIT in Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Does anyone have any ideas where I should try to get stationed at? I heard Germany and Italy are among the best places to be stationed. Ian My Dad was in the Army for 21 years, and during his tour my family and I were in Germany while he was stationed there. Those 3 years are some of the most memorable of my life as a kid. Go Army! HOOAH!
  8. you can just texas rig a tube. Depending on where you're fishing, open water or bed fishing, you might want the hook exposed for a better hookset.
  9. I went to BPS Friday night in Baltimore, and I'm kind of low on money at the moment, but I managed to get a pack of Berkley 7" power worms(blue fleck), a Spro JR. frog(just started to get into froggin), a black/blue jig, and a pack of chigger craws(3"). Btw, it was my first time in a BPS, and I was blown away. I must have spent 4 hours in there with my roommate walking down every aisle. I gotta go back sometime this march before fishing really heats up.
  10. I use the paca chunk alot for jig trailers, and I'm looking at the pack right now, and they're all 3". Maybe those are comparable? By the way, just an observation, Netbait Paca Chunk compared to the Chigger Craw for trailers, the paca chunks are 10x better imo.
  11. I'm in NoVA, and go to school in West Virginia, so during the school year I fish the Potomac alot for smallies, and then back home I'm all largemouth. Mostly some small ponds around the area, and Lake Fairfax(You'd be surprised at the kinds of fish Fairfax holds, especially pre-spawn and during the spawn.)
  12. Hey guys, I just put together this short video of Louisiana Lafayette at Falcon Lake from videos that were up on FLW's web site. Nothing too fancy, but let me know what you think. http://suhighlights.blip.tv/#1722841
  13. I go to school in WV, and the Potomac is is here in Shepherdstown so my roommates and I fish it alot. Lately, chrome jerkbaits have been working really well, along with orange colored craws and some bitsy flip jigs. Get some Netbait Paca Chunks for a good trailer.
  14. Haha, what a coincidence! Just lately I've been pulling off about 3 of those guys every time I go fishing!
  15. I'm definitely in, and my roommate will be up for it too, so we can rep Shepherd -Pete and Joe -Shepherd U. -Don't really know alot of bodies of water around here, but know of Black hills, Potomac River... -Shore fishing sounds good, although I would be able to get a jon boat, so either is fine -I'd rather do this thing in Early to Mid July, I have alot of work in late June...
  16. When did you go to the Brookfield pond? I was just there on Sunday...
  17. On further note, there will be 10x as much traffic due to the oil crisis in the world, therefore putting more people in traffic, ultimately, not allowing anglers to get to launch ramps. Everything relates back to Economics
  18. I haven't gone yet, just got back from work.. still deciding on whether or not to now or tomorrow haha. What hidden pond are you talking about though?
  19. I'm surprised you're having trouble with top-water bites... I've been throwing a popper this weekend and I average about 1 bass every 10 casts or so... Also, I don't really know if the heat wave is going to be that detrimental to the fishing this season. The water usually takes a while to heat up anyways, and if the heat wave is short-lived, then it may not affect it as much.
  20. This is an awesome idea! We can have our own tournament and can represent our school. Let's try to do it this summer sometime!
  21. No, but it looks like there's alot of ponds off of Stonecroft Blvd. too... If it doesn't rain too much tomorrow I'll head over there and fish the one near the water park and try and check out the those ones.
  22. Sounds like a fun trip. I've been using wacky rigged senkos recently. Black seems to be a big color for me, and the senkos work really well on bedding bass and bass that aren't biting traditional baits as well.
  23. Yea, last time I was there I was fishing the one pond with my buddy near the old waterpark and this guy came over and told us about it. Said he cut a hole in the fence, and we went down there(think it was a Sunday) started raining pretty bad and we didn't have any luck. My friends swears he saw a 10 lber jump though... : I'll probably head over there this weekend if you wanna meet up and go. Thanks JCrzy for all the info too man.
  24. Hey yall, just started postin on the forums and I like it so far. I live in Herndon, and work near Lake Fairfax so I fish out there most of the time, but I'm looking for some small ponds in the area. Any help would be appreciated. P.S- In Chantilly, off of Brookfield Corporate Drive where that waterpark used to be, is a Fairfax County park authority building (i think) and there's a nice looking pond behind the building. I've talked to a guy that was around there, and he said he's pulled out a couple of 6 lbers just recently. Anyone know if it's legal to fish? Or maybe what the place is called?
  25. What pond were you fishing? I've been trying to find some good small ponds to fish around here... there aren't many unfortunately...
