  1. I don't usually shop at BPS/Cabelas unless it's a real emergency but I have several gift cards to use. I tried to go out and buy these a couple weeks ago after seeing the other thread but they aren't putting them out in stores until the 12th. I'm going out Thursday morning to try and snag a bunch. I hope they are like the old Xcaliburs. For $3 I'll give them a shot.
  2. St. Croix and Loomis for me, with some Dobyns thrown in the mix. I was a diehard St. Croix fanboy until a few years ago when I bought a few Loomis IMX pros for jigs and texas rigs. I since sold those to upgrade to NRX's and now it's all over..... I still use all three brands but for bottom contact baits there isn't anything that can compare to an NRX.
  3. Stopped by mine today, and same kind of reports. They had tons of 3/8 chatterbaits and Zoom plastics. I also saw some LC jerkbaits. I passed as I don't really need anything they had.
  4. I don't use a real high end rod for my ned rigs and don't ever throw hair jigs. I use a Dobyns 702s Sierra as my ned rig specific rod and it's done the job with no complaints so far. I don't think the sensitivity is a huge factor for Ned rigs, hell the inventor uses cheap Walmart bought rods. I choose to spend my $ on high end rods for heavier jigs and texas rig worms. Now, if money was no factor I'd definitely use a Loomis NRX 802s or 852s.
  5. To each their own.... I'd rather just go with a quality Siebart that fishes right out of the package. Then again, I don't have much time to fish, or do anything else at the moment. Busy season
  6. I hate this thread. ?
  7. Nice! I have never tried the double handle on a spinning reel. I'm seriously considering grabbing that Gomexus from Amazon. It will look great too with the red and carbon fiber on the Stradic Ci4+. Back to the OP's question, I prefer the 2500 paddle handles on the Stradics over the T handle.
  8. Yeah I use KVD conditioner on all my non braid setups anyway. Have you ever used InvisX? If so how would you compare it to the Sunline?
  9. Good info, thanks. I've steered away from FC myself but would like to put it back on a few combos this season and try it again. I think I'll go with 14lb.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion on the Crazy Flapper, that looks like a smallie killer here in our creeks. I'm going to order some. I guess that's a pretty good deal, but Walmart has them for like $1.79 all the time.
  11. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/222253-any-good-do-it-all-jigs-you-can-recommend/
  12. Yeah, I had no idea how long it has been there, but thought it was more recent than several years, haha. Thanks
  13. Thanks, I think one just opened up here recently and there are a few in neighboring towns.
  14. I myself am going to focus more on jigs and bigger worms this year and hope I can get a new PB. Good luck OP!
  15. I don't know.... I've never fished the MBR taper but I know they're well liked. But, if this is a specific jig rod then I think you should go with the JWR. But like I said above my opinion could be counted as null since I have no experience with the MBR. I do have experience with IMX Pro and the NRX in both JWR rods and I don't think you'll regret any rod you choose.
  16. I don't see the 852c GLX MBR in the current line up but the 842c GLX MBR is rated up to 5/8 oz. The NRX 852c JWR which is what I believe gilkeybr was referencing is only rated to 3/8 oz.
  17. 852 NRX for 3/8 oz jig plus trailer? That's exceeding that rods limits by quite a bit. I tried to throw a 3/8 oz jig plus trailer on my 853 NRX and it still felt under powered for that size jig.
  18. I bought a few locally but have yet to try them yet. I really like the original Curve 55.
  19. Yeah, I just leave them on. Never had an issue......
  20. Try Walmart. I've also seen a kit at Walmart where they sell a bitsy bug jig and like two or three trailers in a package for under $3.
  21. I use one all the time here in the creek. I've only ever used a baby rage craw.
  22. Yeah, I can definitely tell a difference in the IMX pro and NRX 853 backbones.
  23. I'd go with a 4 power. I had both the 853c and 854c in IMX pros and sold them to upgrade. I bought a 853c NRX and tried to throw a 3/8 jig plus trailer and it seemed too heavy for the rod. I'm now deciding on what to get, either 854c, 894c, or 873c CRR to throw 3/8 and the occasional 1/2 oz jigs.
  24. You're absolutely correct on this. My Legend Glass is the 6'10" but still is the best crankbait or any bait specific rod I've ever used. I own one other CB specific rod, St. Croix Avid but the glass is 10x better IMO. I'm a huge crankbait fan anyway so I always try to find an excuse to use the Legend Glass whenever I'm out and it always puts a smile on my face. This was a couple Sundays ago on a rare warm February day. Untitled by Caleb Bender, on Flickr
