  1. Do you mind sharing what techniques you use for each? I've got a couple JWR rods, with the newest being an 853c NRX. I'd like to try some MBR rods as I've always heard great things.
  2. I'd go with a 734c. I have one because it was on sale last year for a steal. I don't throw jigs on it but I think it would be much better than the 735c for the size lures you're using.
  3. Unfortunately Strike King doesn't list the sizes of hooks. (Or I just don't see it) I need to replace all my 1.5 KVD squarebills that I got over the winter. I did this a while back but can't remember what size I used. I think it was a #4?
  4. I know it's a given but just wanted to give everyone a heads to check out your local Boat/RV shows this winter. A local online retailer that I don't think is to be mentioned here had crazy deals again at their booth at our Boat show this past weekend. Last year they were selling the white Duckett rods (sorry don't know the model) B1G1. I wasn't interested in those but come to find out they were doing the same deal on all their Loomis rods. ? I ending up grabbing several IMX pros last year and used them a couple times but the monkey was strong and I ended up selling them to upgrade to NRX's. Well, supposedly that didn't go over all too well last year so this year they switched it up. They had all Loomis rods 30% off and if you bought an E6X or IMX pro you got a $50 gift card. If you bought a GLX or NRX you got a $100 gift card. Or.........if you bought a GLX or NRX for full retail they'd throw in a free Curado DC for each rod bought. They also had steep discounts on ALL line and baits they brought to the show. So, visit your local shows and I bet you'll find some deals.
  5. Sounds to me like it might be defective.
  6. Nice, I'm in Lexington too.
  7. I have the best luck here in the creek with a WP 75 or 90 but prefer the 75. Steady retrieve
  8. Then I'd wait until August and buy an NRX.
  9. I'm a Shimano fanboi so I'd have a hard time passing on that deal...... I'd say go for it, surely you can get your money back if you change your mind.
  10. I always have a spinning setup which I only use for weightless Senkos, either texas rigged or wacky. I also always have a baitcasting setup with either a texas rigged, bullet weight worm, craw or lizard. If all else fails or the fishing is tough it's hard to beat a Senko, they are straight fish catching machines and that's no secret.
  11. Yeah, where are you seeing new NRX's and Exprides for 50% off. Sorry but I doubt that. I've bought a few NRX's for 30% off but that's the max I've ever seen.
  12. **edit** I posted this before seeing MassYak's reply, lol. Ok, so I've got a Dobyns 795 and am a beginner swimbait angler and will be fishing 90% out of a kayak. I fish several smaller lakes, creeks and rivers and really want to fish more weedless swimbaits like the Huddleston 68 deluxe weedless (also open to other good weedless baits). Am I going to have a tough time with hooksets with the 795 out of a kayak with the weedless baits? If so, whats a better rod choice?
  13. Yeah, I take advantage of that Black Friday sale every year. Unfortunately it seems that's the only really good sale they do all year now.
  14. I can't remember but doesn't TW do a Classic sale? If so is it a sitewide discount or just some specific items?
  15. Interested in the replies to this thread. I'm starting to be intrigued by them too and would like to hear others input.
  16. I use separate rods for Ned and weightless Senkos, as a weightless Senko is actually quite heavy. I love my 702s for Neds.
  17. Do you happen to remember or have the brand or seller? Thanks
  18. Thanks, this just helped make my decision. 20lb it is......
  19. I used to tie directly to the split ring but saw the light a few years back and started using snaps. I since remove all the factory split rings from all my crankbaits and use a snap. I'm pretty sure I use VMC brand but don't remember the size.
  20. Ok, so I've never used braid on any of my finesse spinning reels. Right now I only have two, one for weightless Senkos (4" and 5") and one for Ned rigs. Both have 6lb Yo-zuri Hybrid spooled on them, and I really have no complaints other than visibility. I don't like using a leader and probably never will. I'd like to try some braid on my Senko reel, specifically the flash green. If you were a newbie to braid on a spinning reel and only really fishing a Senko (weightless or wacky rigged) would you go with 15lb or 20lb?
  21. I only have a few spinning setups but my ned rig specific combo is a 702sf and older Shimano Sahara 1000. It's awesome to fish and has caught several nice sized bass. While it doesn't compare to my 2500 Stradic Ci4+ as far as smoothness goes it's still great. So, yeah go for it, the 1000 size reels are pretty sweet.
  22. Yeah, that's a good deal. Good luck, wish we had one around here.
