  1. Sweet reel, I just can't do the red, haha.
  2. Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm more worried about the 6'8" length than anything.
  3. I've got an opportunity to purchase a brand new one for less than half of retail and just seeing if there are any opinions on whether I should pull the trigger. I'm in need of a rod for 3/8 to 1/2 oz. jigs plus trailer. I recently sold some IMX Pros 853c and 854c and upgraded to an 853c NRX which I use for finesse jigs and light texas rigs. I have yet to get another rod for heavier jigs as I was holding off for another NRX. I normally prefer a rod that's 7' in length for jigs especially since I mainly fish from a yak. But, I do have other 6'8"-6'10" rods I use on other applications. I also fish small rivers and creeks so a shorter rod is always a plus. I guess my ultimate question is whether it's worth buying this rod or saving a little more and getting a 873 CRR NRX or 854c NRX? I'm a fan of St. Croix rods but only own Avids, Legend Glass and a few Mojo Bass rods. If I don't get the Legend Xtreme for a jig rod then what other applications have you all used this model for? Thanks
  4. Yeah, either one is a nice reel and I think you'll be happy with whichever you choose. I really like couple Stradic Ci4+'s on my finesse spinning setups. I want to try the new Stradic FL
  5. Yeah, dumb design IMO. I too use a fish grip attached to a scale.
  6. Good advice here, I've used this same hook with Keitechs on mucky bottom farm and golf course ponds.
  7. Just match the weight of your lure and line to the rods rating and you should be fine. The Zodias rods are nice.
  8. I would guess so, since all retailers have been trying to deplete their stock of current model 70's.
  9. Which model LG?
  10. St. Croix Legend Glass 610MM Got this one on it throwing a 75x crush last Sunday on a rare 49 degree February day. Untitled by Caleb Bender, on Flickr
  11. Can't help you but I can relate to the weather and muddy water here in KY. I'm ready for it to dry up!
  12. I'm new to the swimbait game and going to try to throw some of them on my glass cranking rod. If that doesn't work I also have a new 795SB Dobyns fury I could try.
  13. I'm sure it will work but if you are truly curious I think you'll really like the Mojo Glass. I'm a huge fan of crankbait fishing and using my St. Croix Legend Glass rod is such a joy to use I find myself fishing crankbaits more than any other technique.
  14. What podcast? Not saying I don't believe you but your facts are foggy.....
  15. d**n this thread. lol
  16. Yeah, I'm leaning towards using it on the Legend Glass. I love fishing crankbaits and the LG is one of my favorite rods in my arsenal. I'll use the Curado K that's on there now for a new swimbait rod I just bought. Speaking of my Legend Glass, caught this guy Sunday on a Crush 75x on a semi warm day in the middle of February that I was lucky to be outside and fishing. Untitled by Caleb Bender, on Flickr
  17. Well, the Bait Monkey has been hard on me this winter so I can only get one Curado DC before spring. I was originally going to get one and use it on one of my dedicated Crankbait setups, St. Croix 610MM Legend Glass that I mainly throw 1.5 size squarebills with. It currently has a Curado 201K 6.2:1 reel and does fine. I just got an NRX 853c for my finesse jig/light texas rig rod and now thinking I should get a DC for this rod instead. I know the DC platform shines in windy conditions and throwing moving baits well but would I enjoy it better throwing jigs and t-rigs up to probably 1/2 oz.
  18. What are you going to use this combo for? I'd like to find a 6'3 Avid
  19. Man, I wish I lived in Florida. I need to get back down to Toho soon.......
  20. I've got a 1000 sized paired up with a Dobyns Sierra 702s for my dedicated Ned rig setup.
